Ch.44
3rd Pov
8 days passed before Luffy's group arrived at Zou, and Shinsa showed no signs of waking up.
It was after the banquet celebrating Luffy, and the rest of the crews arrival, that Nami began to explain what happened to their missing crew mate. Even Brook and Chopper did their best to explain what happened, but their sobbing and frantic mess state only further confused the rest of the crew.
"Wait, can you explain everything about the last 11 days from the start, Nami? What in the world happened to you?" Robin interrupted Usopp's questioning about the Big Mom pirates.
This allowed for Nami to go into detail on how they were able to evade the Big Mom's pirates, and when they arrived at Zou, it was already destroyed.
Wanda joined in on the explanation and told the Straw hats that if the Twirly Hat group never arrived on Zou when they did, every last Mink would have died without hope. Halfway through her explanation, a Mink had arrived to inform them of Duke Dogstorm's awakening.
In his quarters, there the Straw-Hats learned of what Jack did to Zou, and how the Twirly Hat crew saved them. By the time Pedro finished his re-telling of the events from 11 days ago, Chopper finished treating Duke Dog-Storm, and led the crew to Cat-Viper's home to continue his treatment of Cat-Viper.
As they traveled to Cat-Viper's quarters, Brook went into further detail on Sanji's history, and why Big-Mom's pirates wanted him.
"I'm sorry. If only I could have kept him here until everyone else arrived!" Nami said to the group once Brook finished his explanation.
"It was Sanji himself who prevented you from holding him back. It wasn't your fault." Robin reassured the clearly guilt ridden navigator.
"Bud Robin...whad if we nevah see him aggaan..." Chopper who was sitting on top of Franky's shoulder cried out loud.
"That's perfectly fine." Zoro finally spoke up as he was laying down on top of the large crocodile Mink that was leading them to Cat-Vipers house.
"WHAT?!" Chopper screamed out at him.
"True, if he does just vanish, he'll owe us a final "thanks for everything."
"WRONG!" Chopper screamed at him once again, pretty fed up with his careless stance on the situation.
"Just think about it... we're currently on a course that can't be changed. Remember what Caesar said about his business? Doflamingo's biggest trading partner for S.M.I.L.E. was Kaido. When we destroyed the research Lab on Punk Hazard, that got Doflamingo mad. And now that we've destroyed the factory on Dressrosa, the next guy down the line to snap on us is Kaido one of the four emperors!" Zoro started to explain with a serious expression.
"Just like Jack, the guy who wrecked this place, he's not just some far off menace anymore. It's only a matter of time before he comes down on us!! The reason we're aligned with Traffy is for the fight ahead! And Kaido's got his eye on Kin'emon's group for reasons we don't understand yet. We're set up for an imminent confrontation with Kaido! And then he goes and sets up another stink eye with Big Mom, another emperor! It's nothing short of idiocy, that Twirly-Brow freak." He finished his explanation, suddenly voicing his obvious irritation with the cook.
"You don't have to say it like that, you tactless clod!! This is this, and that is that!!" Nami this time screamed at Zoro while Brook and Chopper were both giving him the stink eye.
"It's small-time business!!" Zoro shouted at her, minimizing the severity of Sanji's situation.
"You don't got to say how important other people's problems are!!" Nami argued back with him.
"Fine! We can't figure it out ourselves, so let's go ask Sanji!" Luffy decided, wanting to get to the root of the problem, but Zoro showed his obvious reluctance on not wanting to go.
Even Robin explained that it wouldn't be a good idea to pick another fight with Big Mom, but Luffy still insisted on going to speak with Sanji directly, so Chopper stated that there might be a way to sneak onto whole cake island to speak with Sanji.
Upon arrival at the Guardian's dwelling in the Whale forest, Pedro greeted the group, and explained the tight security that was on going in Zou right now.
"Nami..." Chopper turned to her and whispered since attention was all on Pedro.
"Yeah?" She bent down to him to listen to what he was saying.
"What do we tell them about Shinsa?! I already feel like I let them down with Sanji being gone, but how am I supposed to explain that our crew member is on the bring of death??" He whispered once more with a worried expression. Shinsa never really hung out with the crew, so it wasn't all surprising that no one asked where she was.
Nami also didn't really share what happened to her during her explanation, and just said that she wasn't with them when they were trapped in Bege's devil fruit body, which wasn't really a lie.
"We can tell them after we check up on Cat-Viper since she's here anyways. Don't worry, I'll explain everything Chopper. But let's keep the whole Ninja thing a secret. It's clearly a sore topic for the Minks since their home was destroyed because of a ninja." Nami whispered back, and grabbed Brook stealthy to tell him not to say anything about Shinsa's identity.

After Chopper checked up on Cat-Viper, and the big Mom Pirate explained what happened to Sanji, and why he really went, Law, along with his crew met up with the Straw Hats and Cat-Viper.
"Black-Leg went to Big-Mom's?!" He questioned them, but more so specifically Luffy who was sitting on the belly of a resting cat Viper.
"Yeah." Usopp answered him.
"Thats the thing! I'm going to go get him! So just wait on this whole fighting Kaido thing!" Luffy said.
"Waiting isn't the only issue! We should have been able to hide here on Zou for a little bit, but they know where we are!! If they come back to us next and invade the island, then what becomes of this country?!" Law exclaimed in irritation at Luffy's decision.
Before Luffy could say anything though, a Gorilla Mink interrupted the conversation with Tears streaming down his face, and Cat-Viper declared another feast.
"I'm all in!!" Luffy cheered while jumping up and down, but this time Zoro grabbed him by the cheek in irritation.
"Before we do anything, why hasn't anyone said anything about Shinsa?! Where the hell is she and what was she doing while that Twirly-brow idiot was being taken!?" He demanded, seriously annoyed with the lax behavior of the crew.
The Straw Hats plus law were all alone in Cat-Vipers room, as the rest of the Mink left to go prepare for the feast.
"Yeah! I almost forgot about her!! Shinsa should have been able to prevent Sanji from leaving, so why didn't she?! I'm getting sick and tired of her absent personality!" Usopp also added his two cents to the conversation.
Within seconds, the temperature of the room seemed to drop, and simultanously Nami, Brook, and Chopper's face fell.
Seeing their mood plummet, Robin spoke up.
"Nami, did something besides Sanji leaving happen?" She questioned with her voice laced with concern.
"Among the Big Mom pirates who attacked us, and took Sanji, there was someone who claimed to be her teacher." Nami started to explain, and tears began to swell up in her eyes.
"He took Shinsa somewhere and when he brought her back, she was on the brink of death." Chopper took over the explanation since Nami seemed shaken up.
"Wait, what?!" Usopp exclaimed, his face showing pure shock and horror. "That doesn't even make sense! Shinsa has some kind of teacher?! What the hell are you guys talking about Nami?!" He grabbed her shoulders, and questioned her.
"Usopp!!" Luffy yelled his name. All entertainment gone from his face. Usopp slowly let Nami's shoulder go, and walked back away from her. "Nami, where is she?"
Nami pointed at the door behind them, and Luffy was the first to head there and open it wide.
Following him was the rest of the Straw-Hats, and Law.
Upon entering the room, Usopp gasped loudly, seeing the condition of the Uchiha.
"Oh my..." Robin voiced her shock seeing Shinsa lying in bed, hooked up to the multiple IV bags. She still had the breathing mask over her mouth, and her face was still almost fully covered by bandages. The only difference from the last couple of days was the thick cast over her arm was reduced to a thinner layer of bandages.
"Hey, what happened here?" Franky asked, his voice laced with suprise seeing his crew-mate looking like she was battling death. Even Zoro had a conflicted expression, since he knew full well that Shinsa was strong. The mere idea of someone being able to beat her this bad was troubling.
"I'll take it from here." Brook grabbed everyone's attention, since Chopper started checking on Shinsa's vital signs.
The skeleton went on to explain their initial encounter with Bege, and how Mokuze had attempted to attack both him and Sanji, but Shinsa pushed them out of the way, which resulted in her arm being severed.
He then told the group that he grabbed her by the neck and disappeared, before reappearing through some vortex with a severely beaten Shinsa, and he didn't have a single scratch on him.
"That man and Shinsa seem to have a complicated history because he said he was her teacher, but he also said he killed her older brother, and her closests friends, and forced her to watch." Brook finished his explanation that left the Straw-Hats semi speechless.
"Luffy..." Nami grabbed the rooms attention. They all turned to her to see her face filled sorrow. "Shinsa protected us from him."
"Then I'll just have to kick his ass when we go get Sanji back." Luffy said as if this was the most simple answer.
"Hey, I don't mean to get involved in your crew issues, but I saw her fight against Doflamingo. Shinsa-ya is strong, so anyone who left her in this state is far stronger than Doflamingo." Law spoke up. He too was looking over Shinsa's vitals with Chopper, and as impressed with the wound care the reindeer provided.
Luffy didn't respond, and instead walked up to Shinsa. He looked down at her, and felt his blood boiling.
"No one does this to my Nakama." Was the captain's chilly response, and no one could say anything after.
Later that night, the Minks dragged the straw hats out to continue their feast with Cat-Viper, and since they really couldn't do much for Shinsa, they decided to celebrate with them.
Law had also reassured them that she would be fine due to Chopper's handiwork, which eased their concerns.
Robin, Franky, and Brook opted to waiting at the islands entrance for Kin'emon and Kanjuro to prevent them from asking about their Ninja friend they were looking for.

"Why do you look like that?" Inside of her subconscious, Shinsa stood before the 9 tailed fox that was lying flat down behind a cage, multiple pillars stabbing each of his tail into the ground.
"That damn Ōtsutsuki! He's the offspring of the devil itsel!" Was the response she got before the Kyuubi started thrashing against the seals.
"Hey, stop that-?!" All of a sudden, Shinsa fell to her knees. She gripped her chest in excruciating pain.
"I'm going to break this cursed seal, and kill that damn Ōtsutsuki!!" The Kyuubi growled in furry, and Shinsa could feel him fighting against the seal. She felt her heart pulsing in her ears, and blood began pouring out from her nose and mouth.
"Stop! Stop or you're going to kill both of us!" Shinsa screamed at him. Whatever seal Mokuze placed on her was so strong that forcefully breaking it would definitely kill them.
That was all it took for the Kyuubi to stop thrashing, and Shinsa could feel the pain ease away. She stood back up in the sewer like room, her body soaked from the water that reached her shins.
"You know Mokuze?" She asked him, his words from earlier ringing in her mind.
"Shut up!" When the Kyuubi screamed this, a shockwave of chakra nearly caused Shinsa to fall backwards. "That demon...he was exiled from the Ōtsutsuki clan, sent down to the Shinobi world." Even though he seemed like he wasn't going to answer, he did. But it was too vague for Shinsa to really understand.
She didn't know much about Mokuze's history. When she met him, he was lying in the battlefield as if he was going to die. Guilt made her save him, which proved to be the biggest mistake of her life.
Her hatred ran deep, but she also held fear towards the man. Every time she saw him, she could only be reminded of when she was forced to watch him murder her brother and her two teammates. She was reminded that their deaths were her fault.
Sometimes, she could even see their blood on her hands. The trauma from that day is why she always held people at a distance.
"If you help me kill him, I'll release you from here." Shinsa decided that even if she had to die, she wanted nothing more than to kill him. The mere knowledge of him being alive and well in this world was more than enough for her to forget her revenge against Danzo and the leaf village
"Heh, heh, heh deal!" Suddenly, water began rushing into the room, and in an instant, Shinsa was submerged by the water. She released a choked up breath of air, the pain from the water sitting on her chest.
'Damn this stupid water!!!' And her vision went black.
