Part 3
"If you're in pain, I won't be able to have fun anyway," she said. She was so sweet. We went into our cabin and spent three days watching TV with a low volume because I had a splitting headache. On the third day, I felt the boat rocking strangely and I heard a crunching, metal sound from the outside.
"What the hell was that? Was that me or-" I said sweating with a pounding headache.
"No, something happened. But what..." Karla didn't finish. The ship rocked and more metal roared around us. Then seven short horn blasts and one long blast boomed from the ship.
"Are they evacuating?" Karla asked. I shook my head. I seriously didn't know. Karla opened the door and kept her head out of the room. She stayed there for a little while, which made me nervous. I approached the door and looked out at the hallway with her. No one was there and we thought that maybe there was nothing to worry about, but then we saw a family of four coming out of their cabin with life jackets on.
"Woah, okay. Something is going on," Karla said. The boat rocked more fiercely and we almost tripped on each other.
"Yeah, something's definitely going on," I replied. I was so scared and my heart was racing. I was getting worse.
"Okay, let's get our life jackets and get the hell out of here," she said. I had no idea where they were. I could hardly think. My head was killing me. I vomited on our bedsheets.
"Damn it," Karla said to me, but quickly regretted saying that to me. I know that she was just tired and scared. I was too. She scavanged for the life jackets until she found them. The boat rocked again. Karla put her life jacket on. Me, I just held it under my arm. I could barely move.
"Come on, let's get out here," Karla said. I limped from the hallway to the deck. I had to hold on to Karla's shoulder and I knew I was a burden on her. I wish she just walked forward and let me arrive on my own, but she wouldn't even listen about it. We reached the upper deck. The scene was frightening, the waves were at least a hundred feet. People were screaming everywhere and all over the place. Some were running around, but the security guards and crew members of the ship were directing them to the assembly station and soon everyone was gathered up. I felt like a saucesage in a can. I was sea sick.
