Chapter 1-Begginings
Arya tightened her anklet and carefully walked down the stairs, being extra careful not to get her new dress caught. Today was the biggest day of her life. Today she would receive the nectar of Ninani. There was no doubt that she was worried, today she may even summon a spirit animal! Of course the likely hold of that happening was....quite low. Her village hadn't had a single summon for as long as she could remember. And not to mention Arya was nothing special. She didn't have any debt, she wasn't rich and she wasn't poor. She was plain, normal and some might even say boring. However they didn't know everything she had been through. She was lost deep in thought she didn't notice she had reached the end of the stairs and stumbled forward, quickly catching herself before she face planted. "Arya! Come eat breakfast!" Her mother called out from the kitchen. "Coming mom!" Arya hurried towards the kitchen, sweeping dust off her dress. "Morning mom." She sat down at the table and started eating the toast that had been laced out for her. "Good morning hunny. Today's a big day!" Her mom exclaimed excitedly. "Yeah but I'm 100% sure that I won't summon anything." Arya replied simply. "Oh don't say that. You never know?" Her mom replied placing a hand on Aryas. "Yeah but I'm not getting my hopes up." Arya finished her meal and drank some water to wash it all down. "Oh I give up." Her mom took her plate and started washing some dishes. "Now don't you have a ceremony to attend?" Her mom reminded her. "Oh! Yeah I do. Bye mom! See you there!" She opened the door and ran out. "Good luck hun!" Arya heard her moms voice just as she left. She checked her watch. She still had a few minutes to wish her best friend good luck. She ran towards a familiar part of the neighbourhood and knocked on a very small flat. A young boy came to the door. "Arya!" His face lit up. "Hey Erik!" She hugged him briefly. "So. Today's the day." Erik managed to get out a smile. "Yeah. I suppose it is. We'll become full members of Trunswick." Erik nodded, knowing that Arya thought she wasn't going to summon an animal. "So. What animal do you want?" Erik asked raising an eyebrow. Arya thought for a minute. "A bird. Any type. Well apart from a nightingale. Those are legends!" Erik smiled. "Well you never know! Anyway I want an owl." Arya noticed the time. "Oh! We should get going. See you there!" Erik waved his goodbye and disappeared back inside. Arya ran to the ceremony stage where their Greencloak, and Trunswick kid, Kiria were waiting. 'Erik must not have made it here yet..' she thought. The earl sat on his throne, looking quite intimidating. Then Erik ran through the crowd panting. He had obviously just made it in time. He took his spot behind Arya and looked up. Arya could feel him shaking with anticipation. Kiria went first. She received the nectar...and silence. No animal appeared out of the blue. 'Well if she didn't summon one, there no chance for me.' Practising her gracious in defeat face she stepped forward. And for a split second she saw a glint in the Greencloaks eye. Arya blinked and it was gone and as fast as it came. "Arya Smithword, receive the nectar of Ninani." Arya took the liquid from their hands. This would be her first, and only sample of the nectar. Being extra careful not to drop it in her trembling hands. She held the nectar to her lips and swallowed. She was immediately taken aback from the taste. It was sweet, like honey but somehow better. At least she still would have tasted this magical liquid even if she didn't summon a spirit animal. Then the strangest thing happened. Lighting flashed and out of the sky, flittered out a nightingale. It hovered right in front of Arya and she instinctively raised out a hand which the nightingale perched on instantly. Arya twirled it around and noticed the blue and purple metallic plumage poking through. There was no question that this...was Nezi. The nightingale legend that wasn't any spirit animal. Nezi was one that wasn't meant to be summoned. Arya had summoned a great beast. The crowd stared in shock. One of their legends had been summoned right in front of their eyes. Erik looked wide eyed then smiled in her direction. "Everybody calm down! There is still someone to go." The Greencloak silenced everyone. Erik nervously stepped forward. He took the nectar and swallowed. She saw him wince a bit and a deafening thunder filled the air. And out of the blue...stood a skunk. Erik stumbled back but managed to catch himself. The skunk nudged his foot and his face relaxed. There was no way....Erik and Arya had both summoned a spirit animal. And Arya.....she had summoned Nezi. Nezi wasn't exactly known for being the 'greatest beast' out there, but was certainly useful. But still. The odds were impossible. Two summons? She noticed Kiria staring at them with absolute hatred. 'This must be humiliating for her.' Arya reminded herself. First a commoner has summoned Nezi, a great beast and then the poorest boy had summoned a skunk. Kirias and Aryas eyes meet for a second before Kiria slumped back to her father. Out of the blue, an unknown Greencloak approached them. He introduced himself as 'Tarik' before leading them to a private area. "Do you know why you're here?" He asked. Arya raised an eyebrow. "No? Why ARE we here?" Erik responded. Tarik sighed. "Another senior Greencloak, Lenori had a vision. Well a prophecy. A prophecy that you two are apart of. A great evil has risen. And you need to help us fight against it. Well Arya you do. You summoned Nezi, one of the legends." This time Erik was the one to raise an eyebrow. "What do you mean, 'Just Arya?'" Erik asked. "Well you see, the prophecy foretold that one kid from every continent would summon that continents legend. Nezi from Eura, Linti from Zhong, Fawnt from Amaya and Talob from Nilo." Erik and Arya exchanged a glance. "Can I think about it?" Arya asked. "One day. I will be here until Dawn tomorrow." Tarik responded. "Wait! Can I possibly come if Aryas coming?" Erik said unexpectedly. Tarik looked at him. "We'll have to see." Aryas mind was racing. She was part of a prophecy! "Thank you Tarik. I'll think." Tarik nodded and walked off leaving Arya and Erik all alone.
