Vault 117
(IGNORE THE MINECRAFT PEOPLE. HOWEVER I'D LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PEOPLE IN IT, MAINLY NEWSCAMEPRO, WHO MADE THIS FOR THEIR FALLOUT SERIES ON YOUTUBE. GOES GREAT WITH THE STORY IN MY OPINION.)
It was another regular day for Rex Wolford. He rubbed his eyes and yawned as he stretched. Suddenly he felt two hands pin his wrists to the bed and he opened his aqua eyes to meet a pair of light green ones. A woman around her twenties with auburn red hair was smiling down at Rex.
"Hey you." She giggled kissing his nose.
Rex groaned at his wife's behavior. "It's too early in the morning for cute, Rach."
"Oh, come on. Don't be such a baby."
"Uh, sorry to interrupt your moment..." Rex and Rachel look and see their droid assistant, B1-224.
"But I just wanted to let you know there was a man at the door requesting information." B1 informs.
Rachel sighs. "Well, that's one way to kill a mood."
"Now who's a being a baby?" Rex snickers. Rachel slightly slaps his shoulder before they both get up. Rex puts on his shirt while his wife heads to the bathroom to clean up.
B1 leads Rex to the door where he sees a man around his forties wearing a tan fadora and a tan button up coat.
"Can I help you?" Rex asks.
"Hello! Vault-Tec calling." The man says nodding with his hat. "You see, Vault-Tec is the foremost builder of the state-of-the-art underground fallout shelters. Vaults, luxury accommodations where you can wait out the nuclear devastation. I'm glad I've finally found you, I've been calling for days, and believe me sir, it's a matter of utmost urgency."
"Hmm..." Rex says pondering this.
"I'd advise you follow his advice, Master Rex, it seems to be a very urgent matter."
"B1, go make breakfast." Rex orders calmly.
"That's what I get for trying to help." The droid sighs as he goes to the kitchen.
Rex turns back to the man. "What sort of urgency, may I ask?"
"Nothing less than you and your wife's entire future, sir. This country has gone to heck in a hand basket. The big kaboom is...it's inevitable, I'm afraid. And coming sooner than you may think. If you catch my meaning."
"Gotcha." Rex nods.
"I'm here to tell you that because of your service to our country after the Great War, you and your wife have been pre-selected for entrance into the local Vault, Vault 117." (HINT HINT)
"Me and my wife?"
"Of course. Of course! Minus your robot, unfortunately. In fact your already cleared for entrance. It's just a matter of verifying some information."
The man hands Rex a clipboard and he fills out the information.
"Splendid! Thank you for choosing Vault-Tec!" The man takes the clipboard back and waves.
"Uh, thanks." Rex then shuts the door. "That guy would make one lousy telemarketer."
"He's just doing his job." Rex turns and sees Rachel in a black sweater and jean shorts. "You would know a thing or two about that."
"I know, still. My job entailed shooting at aliens and survival, not going house to house sounding desperate."
Rachel then sits on the couch. "Oh, please! Don't be so melodramatic."
"Breakfast is served!" B1 says placing two plates of scrambled eggs, toast, sausage, and bacon on the table.
Rachel stands up from the couch and sits at the table. "Mmm! You never cease to amaze me B1!"
"Thank you, madam! Are you going to eat Master Rex?" B1 asks.
"I still gotta work on the car, I'll heat it up once I'm finished." Rex says grabbing his tool box from the floor.
"Rex, come eat!" Rachel pleads.
"Hey, work comes before the spoils." Rex shrugs. He then walks into the garage and grins pridefully at his car.
Rex then takes out a spoke-wrench and grabs his skateboard, sliding underneath the car.
"Rex! REX!" Rachel called out.
"(Sigh) The second I get under the car." Rex pushes himself out from underneath and trots into the living room. "What's up?"
Rex then takes notice of Rachel's concerned and fearful look.
"Rachel, what's wrong?" Rex then hugs his wife from behind and holds her close.
"Look." Rachel then gestures to a reporter on the television.
"...followed by flashes. Blinding flashes...sounds of explosions. We're trying to confirm these findings but we've seem to lost contact with our affiliate stations. We do have confirmed reports of nuclear detonations in New York and Pennsylvania."
"Oh no. We gotta get to the Vault. NOW!" Rex then grabs Rachel's hand and they both run out of the house and down the street. They both saw other families running down the road, passing cars and bushes. Rex and Rachel then make it into the forest where they see several soldiers near a gate.
"You've gotta let us in." Rex pleads.
"Name?" The sergeant inquires.
"Captain Rex Marcus Wolford. And this is my wife Rachel Wolford." Rex says gesturing to Rachel.
"My apologies sir!" The sergeant salutes and moves out of the way. Rex and Rachel then run in and make there way to the elevator along with several other people.
"Rex, what's gonna happen?" Rachel says extremely scared.
Rex then embraces her. "We're gonna be okay. I promise."
Then they all hear a loud explosion and see a giant cloud of fire make its way to the camp. But the elevator made its way down, passing over them. Rex and Rachel hold each other tightly as the elevator descends.
"We're okay. We're okay." Rex pants, soothing his wife.
Soon the elevator stops and the people see two security guards.
"Everyone please step off the elevator and proceed up the stairs in an orderly fashion." The first guard orders. "No need to worry, folks. We'll get everyone situated in your new home. Vault 117! A better future, underground."
Rachel snakes her hand around Rex's, intertwining her fingers with his. Rex squeezes her hand, comforting her.
"May I ask where is Captain Wolford?" The guard asks.
Rex steps forward with Rachel behind him. "That'd be me."
"Follow me sir. You and your wife will be situated first." The guard then leads the couple up the stairs. Rex sees the different other families getting taken care of. Some had suffered minor bruises and scarring while others had broken bones and bleeding cuts.
The guard then gestures to a table with jumpsuits. "If you and your wife would put these on and then I will show you where you'll be staying."
Rex and Rachel then zip on they're body suits and then follow the guard. The two then see several other people in body suits along with several doctors near large pods of some kind.
"These are decontamination pods. It'll just be a few minutes and then we'll lead you both to where you'll be staying. I just wanted to says its and honor to meet you Captain." The guard says with amazement.
"Uh, thank you soldier." Rex then looks at the pod. He turns to his wife. "It'll just be a few minutes and then we'll be out."
"Rex I'm nervous." Rachel admits.
"Me too." Rex and Rachel then kiss before entering their pods, directly across from one another. Rex leans back in his pod as one of the doctors comes up.
"The pod will decontaminate and depressurize you before we head deeper into the Vault. Just relax." The doctor says calmly.
The guards and doctors all leave as the pod doors then shut. Rachel touches the glass of her pod, seeing Rex. He does the same and nods at her, smiling. Rex then feels the effects of the pod and begins to fall asleep as the pod activates the process.
Rex then wakes up and sees the fog and ice from his view-port dissipate. He sees Rachel still asleep in her pod but then becomes worried as another man and two women in radiation suits come up.
"This is the pod." One of the women say.
"Open it." The man orders. The women nod and the second woman activates the pod's opening sequence. Rex pounds the door of his pod as his wife wakes up and see the three.
"Who are you people? Where's Rex?" Rachel demands.
"Please come with us. Everything will be fine." The first woman assures. She reaches for her arm but Rachel smacks her hand away.
"I want my husband!" Rachel shouts.
"Rachel! I'm in here!" Rex yells inside his pod but his voice was muffled due to the pod being made of several layers of metal.
The man in charge then takes out a gun. "We're not gonna ask you again lady. We're going."
The two women then grab her arms as Rachel struggles against them. The man the growls and smacks her on the back of the head with his pistol, knocking her out.
"RACHEL! YOU SON OF GUN!" Rex cries pounding his fists against the door.
The two women then drag Rachel off as the man looks at Rex being awake and smirks. He follows his colleagues leaving Rex, still pounding on the door.
"NOOOOOOO!" Rex then feels the pod go into stasis again and he passes out.
