Chapter 3
It had only been a day or so since you moved into the Strider household, and you were so grateful to say the least. But you felt kind of bad; you didn't really talk much and still could barely interact properly. You also had screamed when you were awoken more than once. You had no idea why Bro had even taken you in, he seemed to already have his hands full with the two boys, but now he had to support you too. You tried to push these thoughts aside but they always managed to creep back in.
"Hey (y/n)," Bro's voice snaps me from my thought, "I got you a bag for school."
He tosses you a black and grey school bag, which lands on the bed right in front of you.
"Thank you." You smile.
"No probs, kiddo."
And with that he leaves you to yourself. You take the bag and open it to see a pencil case already in it. You smile and sit the bag at the end of your bed.
Tomorrow would be the first day at your new school and you were kind of scared. You were never really good at making friends, but hopefully you would be alright.
"(Y/n), come out for breakfast." Dirk calls out from the kitchen.
You make your way to the kitchen, where Dirk, Dave and Bro were already sitting around.
"Um, where's the cereal?" you ask.
"Oh, right, it's in that cupboard, the bowls in there, spoons and the milk is in the fridge." Bro points out.
You thank him and begin to make some cereal. You pick out the cereal and grab the spoon and bowl. You open the fridge and let out a scream when you come face to face with one of the weird puppets. This causes the three men to look at you. You hold your chest in shock and look back at the boys.
"Who put that in there?" you ask.
Both Dirk and Dave point at Bro, who just shrugs.
"Sorry about that kid."
You mumble an 'it's fine' and grab the milk out, avoiding the puppet. You finish making your cereal and take a seat.
"So (y/n), you ready for school tomorrow?" Dirk asks.
"Yeah, although I'm a little nervous." You admit.
"Well, that's usually the case when you move to a new school." Dave shrugs.
You hum in agreement and keep eating.
There wasn't much talking while you all ate. Dirk was the first to leave, saying that he was going out to visit someone by the name of 'Jake'. He left without saying anything else.
It wasn't long until you had finished eating too. You get up and walk over to the sink, setting your bowl and spoon down on the side. You tell the boys that you were going to have a shower and walk off. You first go to your room and grab some clothes and then make your way into the bathroom. You lock the door behind you and set your clothes down.
"Alright, let's get this over with."
~~~
After about 15 minutes you're out of the shower. You hair was still damp, dripping water onto your shirt. You dry your hair with a towel one more time before hanging it on the rack. You step out of the bathroom and slink back into your room. You lie down on your bed and pick up one of the books Dirk had given you earlier. There wasn't really that much that you could do until tomorrow when school starts.
You begin to read, hearing a few crashes come from what sounded like the lounge room. You keep the book in your hand but open up the door. You wander into the lounge to see that Dave and Bro were in the middle of a fight. You watch, horrified as sword clashed against sword. When you moved into this home, you were hoping to escape the fighting, but you just stepped back into another lot of fighting.
You gasp and the book drops from your hands when a sword nearly hits you, impaling into the wall. Both Bro and Dave look over to see you standing there. Their shades seemed to be glaring at you, the dark tint making it impossible to see their eyes.
"(Y/n).." Bro mutters, taking a step towards you.
You shake your head and take a step backwards. You could feel tears dripping down your cheeks. Before anyone can say another word you turn around and run towards your room. You slam the door behind you and hide in the corner between the cupboard and wall, curling your legs up and hiding your face in your knees.
In the lounge Bro and Dave stay silent as they stare at the book left lying on the carpet.
