Miles had been living with Tails for several days now after his injuries had healed without speaking a single word to him since he had arrived. Miles would always just stare out his window as if he was waiting for something to happen which had started to unnerve Tails.
"Miles why won't you say a word to me all you've been doing is staring outside every since you got better. Besides we need to talk about how you ended up here all bruised and beaten." Tails told him sternly as he stood on his side of the shielded door while Miles just continued to look out the window.
Miles still seemed to have no reaction as he started stoically out the window, unfazed by what Tails had said to him.
"Fine whatever you can stay in there I'll just call up the freedom fighters so we can send you back then!" Tails shouted as his temper boiled.
Miles then flinched a little and sighed before getting up and walking slowly up to the door.
"What is it you would like to know?" Miles said with a twinge of venom in his voice as he glared at Tails.
"Well first how did you get here and why were you injured?" Tails asked feeling slightly worried for his evil counterpart, but at the same time remained cautious around him.
"I got here using Scourge's warp ring that I had managed to steal from him after he arrived back on Moebius and I sustained those injuries from my attempt to charge the warp ring with enough energy to escape the planet with the rest of the Suppression squad." Miles said in a sad tone after mentioning his former team.
"Did the rest of them not make it?" Tails asked as he started to see that he was sad about having to leave them behind.
"No they should be fine, we were originally all going to break into Castle Acorn to use the Anarchy Beryl stashed in the throne to charge up the warp ring, but I figured it was a suicide mission so I left them in the bunker we were hiding in and went to charge the ring myself. It didn't go well and I had to use a small piece of Anarchy Beryl that I had hidden away to finish charging it just so I could escape." Miles explained as he got a hold of his emotions and pulled out the warp ring from his sleeve.
"So what do you plan to do now?" Tails asked as he kept eye contact with him after he finished explaining what had happened.
"For once I don't have a plan. I'm imprisoned here so I guess I will either have to wait for you to let me out or for when Scourge eventually finds out where I am." Miles told him as he looked at the ground.
Tails then sighed and went back to his room, feeling a little sorry for Miles and everything that had happened to him.
'Maybe he isn't completely evil after all.' Tails thought to himself as he passed by T-pup and went to his workshop.
Miles had sat back down and continued to watch the sea from his window wondering how much time he had until Scourge would find him.
As the sun started to set several storm clouds began to roll in.
Tails was in bed as a the loud boom of the storm woke him up.
"Oh why did a storm have to roll in tonight!" Tails complained as he started to shake a little.
Tails then flipped on the lights on and decided to go check on Miles, flinching every time he heard thunder. As he started to go down the stairs the lights flickered as the house shook from the storm.
"Oh no could Miles have gotten out?" Tails asked himself worriedly as he started to run to check if Miles was still in his room.
As Tails approached the door he saw the room was empty. Tails then started to freak out as he realized that he must have escaped until he heard a voice from the living room.
"Would you calm down I'm still here." Miles told him from Tails' living room as he sat down and looked over at him.
"You didn't run off?" Tails asked as he looked over at him seeming confused.
"Well there is a pretty bad storm outside and I wouldn't really have anywhere else to go even if I got off the island." Miles answered Tails while he came over and sat on the couch to talk.
"And your not going to try and get rid of me or something?" Tails questioned him as he cautiously sat down on the couch.
"There would be no reason to do that and not to mention you are one of this world's greatest heroes so people would know if you went missing." Miles told him as another boom of thunder shook the house causing Tails to flinch in fear while Miles seemed unaffected.
"Are you scarred of thunder?" Miles asked curiously as he raised an eyebrow at him.
"Yes aren't you? You are me from Moebius after all." Tails complained as he looked a little bit ashamed to admit he was scarred of thunder and lightning.
"I used to be when I was like 7, but I learned there were much bigger things to be scarred off and eventually got over it." Miles answered as he shook a little while thinking about Scourge and when he first conquered Moebius.
"Well normally I have Sonic or someone around to comfort me when there is a big storm." Tails said quietly to himself but his counterpart had heard him.
"Are you serious you need someone to babysit you every time a storm rolls in?" Miles asked with a bit of a snide attitude as he looked at him.
"....Yes." Tails replied shyly as he looked down while another loud boom of thunder came from outside causing Tails to shake in fear a little bit again.
Miles hadn't said another word but pulled Tails closer to him and wrapped him up in his tails.
"Miles what are you doing?" Tails asked as he looked at him with a shocked expression.
"You said you needed someone to comfort you during the storm and that is what I am doing. You've been a good friend by not turning me in so I might as well return the favor." Miles had said as he smiled a little after using the word friend.
"Ok umm thanks Miles." Tails said happily as he started to hold onto Miles' tails whenever there was thunder until he went to sleep.
The next day Tails woke up and noticed that Miles had slipped away from while he was still asleep.
"Where did he?" Tails asked himself as he jumped up from the couch and started to look for him.
Tails had started to frantically search the house only to find Miles in the kitchen eating a bowl of cereal.
"What?" Miles asked as he seemed confused while looking at Tails.
"You.....still haven't run off?" Tails asked, still surprised that he hadn't tried to escape.
"How can you be that forgetful. I already told you I won't be trying to escape because I have nowhere else to go and even if I escaped you would report it to the freedom fighters, the Chaotix, or somebody else that would probably have no trouble apprehending me." Miles explained while seeming a bit annoyed that he had to tell him a second time.
"Well sorry but I kinda expected you to do something by now." Tails replied while feeling slightly aggravated by Miles.
"Don't worry I won't do anything to harm you or anyone for that matter, especially if....." Miles started to say until he was cut off by the ring of a phone causing him to immediately go silent.
"Hello?" Tails said after he picked up the phone while occasionally glancing at Miles.
"Bonjour Tails, I was wondering if Bunnie and I could come and pay you a visit. We heard about the storm that blew by yesterday and we thought you could use some company to help with any kind of repairs." Antoine said from his end of the phone even though he was also hoping to go on a romantic vacation with his wife.
"Well sure I guess that would be fine, when do you think you and Bunnie will be getting here?" Tails asked as he looked over at Miles, who was staring at him with wide eyes of disbelief.
"We should be there in a few hours. See ya then Tails." Antoine said before hanging up.
"You invited people over?!?" Miles asked as he glared at Tails.
"Well it would be suspicious if I didn't. Now come on we need to find somewhere for you to hide." Tails told him as he put the phone away.
"Well it is a relatively large island, I'm sure I could just hide in one of the caves or  in the wooded areas." Miles purposes as he looks out the window.
"Yeah you g find a place to hide while I make sure to hide any evidence of you being here." Tails told him with a trusting smile.
"Good to know and Tails....thanks for helping me, you are a great friend." Miles said while smiling and not believing he used that word again.
Miles then walked out of the house and looked for a place he could hide somewhere on the island.
"Maybe he can be good." Tails said to himself as he started to clean up the inside of his house.
After a few hours of cleaning Tails heard a boat pull up onto the beach.
"That must be Antoine and Bunnie." Tails said to himself as he started to walk out to go and greet them.
As Tails walked outside he could see not only Antoine and Bunnie getting off the boat, but Sonic, Sally, and Amy were with them.
"Hey Bud sorry we came uninvited!" Sonic said in his usual energetic voice after they had all gotten off of the boat.
"Oh no it's fine, the more the merrier right." Tails said happily even though he was imagining how much harder it would be to hide Miles now.
"So how have you been, are you working on a big project or something because we haven't seen you in awhile?" Amy asked as she walked over to Tails.
"Oh yeah I've been really busy with a project, but I can't really show it to you." Tails said as he smiled nervously which got Sally's attention.
"Well alright I guess we'll all get settled in." Bunnie said as she pulled Antoine along into the house.
Everyone started to go inside but Sally grabbed Tails' wrist and pulled him off to speak privately.
"Umm what is it Sally?" Tails asked while looking at her with a slightly nervous look.
"Tails what are you hiding, your acting strange and I can tell your keeping something a secret?" Sally asked in a bit of a commanding tone as she looked at Tails while feeling a little worried for his well being.
"Look Sally it is nothing you need to worry about, I've just been working on a special project and I want it to be a surprise." Tails told her with a small smile to try to calm her down a little.
"Alright Tails just don't get hurt with whatever it is and go see your parents, they are getting worried." Sally sighed as she patted Tails on the shoulder and walked inside.
"Miles I really hope you found a good place to hide." Tails said to himself under his breath.
Meanwhile, Miles was sitting in a damp cave that was on the other side of the island.
"Well I guess I should wait here until Tails comes to find me." Miles said to himself as he started to make himself comftorable.
