Chapter 5

Satine POV

We left Concordia with enough fuel to get to Mandalor and back home. I never did get my hug, but I do not regret letting Aayla undergo the trial. She came out of it stronger and more confident in her abilities.

Aayla POV

Mom eventually decided to lift the groundings after she had aggressive negotiations with Dad for a few hours. "Aayla, from this point you must guide us." Dad said as I sat on his lap. I closed my eyes and reached out to the Force. "That way." I said as I pointed west. Then south, and east after that. After an hour of flying, we ended up landing out in the middle of nowhere in front of a cave. "It's calling me from in there." I said, "Then go. We will be waiting for you here." Mom said, "If you get lost I guess you can call for help." Luke said cockily as he tossed me a communicator. "Aayla, the lightsaber please." Dad said I nodded and handed him the saber.

I entered the dark cave and delved deeper into the darkness. That's when I saw them, the piercing yellow eyes followed by the blind red light and hum of a laser sword. "KENOBI!" The monster wailed before lunging at me. I tried pushing it away with the Force, but it kept coming. "You are weak! To defeat your enemy you must know your enemy, and yet you cannot know your enemy nor do you know yourself. You, you've been trained in the Jedi arts, you turn away from the wellspring of power at your fingertips! Use your emotions, your fear, rage, and hatred! Break your chains!" He said, "GET AWAY!" I screamed sending him flying. "Ah yes, I can see it now, you look so much like your mother. I wonder, will you have the same expression as she had when I stab you? Oh I do wish to see your father's face twisted in rage and despair. The same way he looked when I nearly murdered your mother." He said as the cave vanished and was replaced by a palace. My father was on his knees wearing black and red armor while across the room my mother sat on her knees next to a throne. The monster was sitting upon the throne while another man who looked similar but far larger stood next to him. They were talking, but I couldn't hear what was being said. In truth I was focused on my mother. She had every right to be terrified in this situation, but instead chose to wear a face of defiance and bravery, she looked so beautiful and some part of me wanted to be just like her. That's when she began to float! She flew forward and the monster stabbed her in n the stomach with the Dark Saber! "MOMMY!" I screamed as I began to cry. Everything except my mother's corpse vanished, "M-Mommy, please wake up. Mommy!" I cried as I shook her trying to wake the dead. I saw something shining around her neck I picked it up and saw a beautiful crystal. It was the same light blue color as my mother's eyes. I dried my eyes and looked around. I found a shovel and used it to start digging a grave.

I buried my mother and sat alone in the dark. I sat for so long that I lost track of time. It felt like days had passed. I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around thinking my father had come looking for me. But when I heard the breathing and how heavy the footsteps truly were, along with the terrible chill I knew that I was in danger. As the figure approached and came into the dim light produced by my crystal and communicator I saw this new and terrible monster.

It took everything I had to muster the strength to run away. I ran aimlessly until eventually I exited the cave. "AAYLA!" Mom said as she ran to my side and hugged me. "Mommy? Daddy? What are you doing here? I-Is this real?" I asked in shock, "This is real, the visions you experienced, while vivid, were only a test. And one that you appeared to have passed with flying colors." Dad said gesturing to my crystal, "What even is it? Doesn't look special to me." Luke said as he snatched the crystal from me, "That is a lightsaber crystal." Dad said as he took it from my brother and returned it to me. "Aayla, it is time for you to construct your own lightsaber." He said.
