My Birthday!

A/N: Ur birthday's gonna be in October. Okay? Or change the month if you want.

Y/N's POV

It is chilly and slightly cloudy in the city of (your city). Thanks for tuning in to-
"Okay, okay," I grumbled, smashing the stop button thingy on my alarm clock. "Why did I even set this? It's Saturday!"
I sat up from my comfy bed, cracking my knuckles. My calendar was open and had a circle over that day. It read, "My Bday!"
I gasped and flew out of bed. 'That's why I set my alarm!' I thought, a dopey grin spreading across my face.
I quickly threw on a Set it Off shirt that I had recently bought, (don't judge,) and put my hoodie on over it.
"I wonder if Max remembers my birthday," I wondered aloud, tapping my chin in thought. "I remember his: March 10th."
Okay, that sounded super stalker-y, but whatever. Back to past Y/N.
I grabbed my phone with one hand and stuffed the other in my pocket. I had a new message.
From Max.

Max💜: Hi, Y/N. Happy birthday.

My heart practically melted. My fingers danced across the keypad, eventually putting together this response:

You: Oh, you remembered? Jeez, Max. I thought you had the "grumpy emo boy" label going on😏

About a minute later, he came back with this response:

Max💜: Shut up and come over already.

I visibly raised an eyebrow, stuffing my phone in my pocket. "Okay..," I said aloud.
I creaked my window open for the thousandth time, slamming my knee on it when I tried to climb out, therefore causing me to fall out of the window. "OW! JESUS CHRIST!" I yelled, hugging my knee to my chest.
The prickly grass gave me goosebumps, so I sat up, realizing I had hit my head on the ground too. I rubbed my head, wincing a bit. 'What a fabulous way to start off my birthday,' I thought to myself, standing up with a grunt.
I realized that all the other times I had escaped through the window, I forgot to shut it. So I slowly and carefully shut it.
That's when the mystery person made their move.
I saw tan hands wrap their way around my eyes, and I screamed out of instinct.
"Oh, shut up, Y/N," a familiar voice hissed. "You're gonna make a scene."
   My screaming ceased. "Max?"
I heard a scoff. Yep. Definitely Max.
"Well no duh, Y/N. Just follow my lead, okay?"
I nodded.
Hands still covering my eyes, Max led me to a mystery direction. My steps were slow and cautious, as I didn't want to slam into a tree or something and have Max laugh.
I wouldn't put it past him.
I heard the squeak of a door hinge a bit later. "Max?" I finally asked. "Where are you taking me?"
I couldn't see him, but I knew he rolled his eyes. "You'll find out in a minute, fish-for-brains."
I groaned.
I then heard a girly laugh come from inside the...house? Place?
It sounded a lot like Nikki.
Max sighed and uncovered my eyes.
I was inside David's house, and there were various tables adorned with snacks. David, Max, Nikki, Neil, and Caleb were all there. Nikki was covering her mouth guiltily.
Max face-palmed. "Wow. Way to freaking ruin it, Nikki."
Nikki shrugged, a guilty smile on her face. "Sorry."
I stood there, at a loss for words. Caleb walked up to me and snapped his fingers in front of my eyes. "Hello? I'd like to talk to Y/N, please."
We all shared a laugh. Well, Max kinda chuckled, but you get the point.
"Wow, guys! This looks incredible!" I gushed.
"Aw, well thank you, Y/N!" David said cheerfully. "Now who wants to eat some cake?"
We all raised our hands simultaneously. Well, Max did a half-raise, but yeah.
Cake! Heaven! Now!

"Aw, no ice cream, Neil?" I asked, looking at Neil's paper plate that only had cake on it. I mean, normal children took ice cream, right? Everyone else at the party did. Even David.
Neil shrugged, poking his cake with his fork. "I guess I'm not an ice cream person."
I gasped and grabbed an ice cream tub off the counter, (mint chocolate chip, if your wondering,) and shoved it it in Neil's face. "Try some!"
Neil sighed, shaking his head and chuckling. "You sure are stubborn." He took a plastic spoon off the counter and scooped some of the ice cream up. He slowly put it into his mouth, his eyes tightly shut. When it entered his mouth, his eyes opened, and a dopey grin spread across his face.
I chuckled. "Told ya, you freaking nerd."
Neil continued to shove huge spoonfuls into his mouth. He gave me the evil eye. "That comment didn't give you any Neil points."
I laughed and turned around to talk to more people, and Max was standing in front of me, holding a plate of ice cream and cake. A light blush dusted his cheeks as well. "Oh! Hey, Max! What's up?"
Max scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "C-can I offer you some d-dessert?"
I gave an appreciative smile. Since I didn't have any yet, I took it from Max's trembling hands. "Sure! Thanks!"
I then heard a slightly distant voice yell, "AWWW! YOU GUYS ARE SO CUTE!"
It didn't take a genius to figure out who it was.
Max's face turned into a tomato. He buried his face in his hands, while I just gave Nikki the evil eye, blushing a fair amount as well. "Shut up, Nikki."

"Gather 'round, everyone! Time for presents!" David's upbeat voice called to the sea of sugar-high children.
Us, if you get my drift.
Max, Nikki, Neil and Caleb made a circle around presents that were sitting on the floor. I sat next to those presents.
"Ooh! Me first!" Nikki volunteered, raising her hand with twinkling eyes.
I smiled and rolled my eyes as I grabbed Nikki's present. It was wrapped very well, and it had a big bow on it. It was rectangle-shaped, and it was fairly big. The tag read, "To: Y/N From: Nikki."
I excitedly tore through the wrapping paper, revealing a box.
I opened the second box, and inside of it lay a brand new slide guitar.
I gasped and embraced Nikki in a rib-cracking hug. "Oh my gosh! Nikki, this is amazing! I've always wanted one of these! How much did this cost?" I asked, letting go.
She shrugged. "I dunno. Somewhere around $1,000. But don't worry about it. It's yours!"
I gave a wide smile and thanked her once again. "How did you even know that I wanted one of these? I haven't told anyone besides-" I cut myself off, looking at Max, a wide smirk on my face. He responded by crossing his arms and rolling his eyes, once again, becoming a tomato.
Nikki laughed and nudged Max with her elbow. "A little bird told me."
Max groaned. "Damn it, Nikki. I can't trust you to keep even one secret."
   Nikki shrugged.
I chuckled and ruffled Max's jet black hair.
"Who's next?" I heard David's voice ask me.
I turned to the redhead, and he was smiling, as always. I saw out of the corner of my eye that Caleb was raising his hand politely. "How about Caleb?" I asked David.
"Yes!" Caleb cheered through his British accent.
   David nodded. "Sure! Why not?"
My e/c eyes scanned through the small pile of presents. They eventually came to rest on a thin, slightly lopsided present that had "Hope you like this, Y/N. From, Caleb" written on it in black Sharpie. Due to the scrunched up paper, the writing was a bit squiggly.
My fingers took over from there. They opened the present, each bit they tore off making a satisfying "rip".
After the majority of the paper was off the mystery object, I could tell what it was.
"A skateboard!" I cried happily, fiddling with the wheels. "Remember when we went to the skatepark and I had to borrow yours? I've got my own now!"
Caleb smiled, his straight, white teeth glowing. "I'm glad you like it. I figured you needed one."
I gave one last appreciative smile, then studied the remaining children. I tapped my chin jokingly. "How about Neil?"
Neil smirked. "I think you'll like it."
I gave him finger-guns. "You know I will."
His was wrapped in f/c wrapping paper and had a neat little tag that read, "From: Neil".
I lifted the present into my lap so I could open it better, and I was shocked to see that it was sorta heavy!
"Be careful with it," Neil warned. "It's very fragile."
I rolled my eyes, chuckling. "Don't be such a worrier."
I tore open the "fragile" object, curious as to what it was that made Neil get his turtleneck all in a twist.
I was mildly disappointed that there was a box under all that wrapping paper.
I opened the flaps and practically fainted once I saw what was inside that box.
It was a freaking laptop.
Now, I know the cliche, (and probably nicest,) response would be something along the lines of, "Oh, I can't except this.", and I was about a second away from saying that.
But then I thought, free laptop! Why would I pass up that opportunity?
"Wow! Thanks, Neil!" I said, smiling.
"Can I use it to play games, Y/N?" Nikki said. "Pleeeeease?"
Max smirked. "I have different intentions."
"Do they involve cat videos?" Caleb rolled his eyes.
Max nodded. "Oh, yeah."
I rolled my eyes as well. My plan was to make Max's present the last one that I open. Since there were two presents left, I automatically assumed that David got me one.
"David! Can I open yours?" I asked David, turning to him and pulling out my famous puppy eyes.
"Sure, Y/N!" David replied, nodding his head.
David's present was a small box, and it was...moving?
I arched an eyebrow, lifting the top off of the box.
"A hedgehog!" I cried, scooping up the little creature and holding it close to my face. It seemed salty that I took it out during the day, though.
"I saw you playing with one once at camp," David explained. "And I thought, 'Why not get Y/N one for her birthday?'"
I nuzzled my face against the hedgehog, smiling. "Thanks, David. I'm gonna call it Sonic."
Laughter rippled through us.
"Can you open mine now?" Max sighed impatiently.
"No," I answered sarcastically, picking his up and putting it on my lap. It was very well set up. It was a small box, and the tag on it read something hilarious.
"To: Y/N. From: Max~ Well, here you go."
I chuckled and ripped open the box, and it was a box of sketching pencils, along with some colored pencils and blending ones.
"This is a part two," Max mumbled, shoving a sketchbook into my arms.
I stared at it in amazement. "This is awesome! Thanks, Max!" I hugged Max tightly.
Max hugged back. "Whatever. It's nothing."
Max then ruffled my hair and gave me a peck on the head. "Hey, what are boyfriends for?"
A chorus of "aww"s erupted throughout the room. That's when Max did something I didn't expect.
He pulled me in for round two.
The sounds of the room seemed to fade as I kissed him. When we pulled apart, I jokingly bowed. "Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week."
