A Threatened Max is a Bad Max
Y/N's POV
An obnoxious sound jarred me out of a deep sleep. My eyes snapped open to my alarm clock buzzing annoyingly.
I yawned as I shut it off and turned my light on.
Mondays...
(Oh, if you guys are wondering, my mom did get Starbucks on Sunday. She just happened to be getting it when Daniel took me away.)

The bell for 1st period rang, and Max and I bid our goodbyes.
However, once I got to my classroom, there was this newbie talking to the teacher.
He was quite tall, and had dirty-blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
"Class!" Mrs. NetherNess got our attention. "I'd like you all to meet Caleb! Tell us about yourself, hun!"
Neil had just sat down next to me. "Sorry I'm late. What'd I miss?"
"So, I guess there's this new kid here," I responded. "He's about to tell us about himself."
"Uh, hello," Caleb said. He had a very nice British accent. "My name is Caleb, and I moved here because my dear grandmother is sick, and my parents and I, (who lived in Britain,) came here to support her." (If you already live in Britain, ignore that part.)
My classmates and I gave nods and waves as Caleb gave a shy smile.
"Well, it's good to have you here, Caleb," concluded Mrs. NetherNess. "Please take a seat."
Caleb nodded and plopped down on the seat next to mine. Weirdly enough, it had been vacant since the 1st day of school.
I leaned over to him and said, "Hey. I'm Y/N." I held my hand out for him to shake.
Caleb gave a cheerful smile and grabbed my hand and shook it. "Caleb. You already knew that."
I laughed quietly, smirking a bit.
I already like this kid.

Max's and I's lockers were both next to each other, so we got our stuff and walked to 2nd period together.
When we were about halfway to the classroom when Caleb came up to me.
"Hey, Y/N! You got English next, too?" he smiled.
"You know it!" I replied, nodding my head.
"So do I!"
"Awesome!" I laughed, high-fiving Caleb.
Suddenly, I heard Max say, "Who the hell is that?"
Frick. Forgot about Max.
Wait...did I detect a hint of...jealousy in his voice?
Max's POV
I felt my ears start to burn as Y/N started talking to this rando new kid.
Like, that kid was good-looking. I dunno, I guess I sort of felt threatened by the kid's good looks and smooth British accent. Also, yeah, I was kinda jealous that he had Y/N's attention.
"Who the hell is that?" I finally said, arching an eyebrow.
"Oh! Sorry, Max!" Y/N turned to face me, smiling apologetically. "This is Caleb! I met him in 1st period!"
"Hey!" the guy called Caleb waved.
Me being me, I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Go to hell." I'd be damned if I was going to be nice to somebody that would most likely take Y/N away from me.
Caleb looked taken aback. "Fine, dipwad."
Y/N's head snapped towards me. "Max, can I talk to for a minute? In private?" she said through gritted teeth.
I gulped but nodded as she pulled me aside.
Well, this is just freaking peachy.
Y/N's POV
I had no clue why Max was acting that way, so I pulled him to the side.
"Yes?" he asked innocently.
"'Yes?'" I repeated. "You know what you did! Why are you being so mean to Caleb?"
"No reason," Max said hurriedly.
"Well, you better quit it! He's my friend, Max!" I spat.
Max nodded as the 2nd period bell rang. So us three walked to the English classroom together.

Once it was time to leave for 3rd period, I saw Max grab Caleb's arm and lead him into the hallway.
I arched an eyebrow in confusion and attempted to follow them. However, in high school, you always have to get past a sea of teenagers first.
After a bit, I finally made it to the hallway, where Max had Caleb pinned on a random locker.
"Don't you even think about taking Y/N away from me! Got it?!" Max snarled as he slammed poor Caleb's head on the metal of the locker.
"MAX!" I yelled, pushing past a crowd of people that were observing the fight.
"Dude, we're just friends!" Caleb tried desperately to reason with Max, but he didn't have any luck.
Max punched Caleb in the face, and he made this weird "oof" type noise as his fist hit him. "I see you flirting with her," Max growled. "Do you really think that I'm that dumb?"
By that time, I had finally managed to get to them. I grabbed a handful of Max's hoodie and yanked him away from Caleb.
He looked over his shoulder at me. "Oh...Y/N..."
I was not having it. My teeth were bared, and I'm pretty sure that smoke started shooting out of my ears. "Why. The hell. Are you. Beating up Caleb?"
Max began to stutter. "I...uh...y-you see...I g-guess I just feel threatened by him. H-he just seems like a much better guy than me, and I thought you'd love him more."
It took a minute for his words to sink in. But when they did, I sighed. I pulled Max in for a hug. "You're my one true love."
After we broke apart, Max nervously turned to Caleb. "We cool?"
Caleb nodded. "Hell yeah, man."
