I stared down at her. 

"Foster?" The words left my mouth in a rush.

"What are you doing here? This... You're not safe. You need to go. Fintan is right behind me. We're cleaning out the hideouts. We're going to burn down the places once we're done. You have to go Sophie."

I could feel the tears leaking out of my eyes. I hadn't seen her in so long, only in my head. And to hold her in front of me. It was too much.

"Foster, you have to go. Fintan is going to torch this place any second now. He has new flames. Stronger. Hotter. They can go out quicker than Everblaze, but they do more damage in the same amount of time. The flames, Fintan calls them his goner flames. If they touch you Sophie, There's no hope for you. Gethen, Ruy, and Brant are at Alluveterre right now. They're going to kidnap Linh and force Tam to do their dirty work for them. You have to go Sophie!"

I shoved her, hoping she would get the message. She radiated shock, hurt, anger, and worry. And a little bit of something else. But I couldn't dwell on it. She needed to go before Fintan saw her. 

"Keefe. Come back with me. Please," Sophie begged me. The first words I've heard her say in a long time.

"Foster. I can't."

Clap, clap, clap.  The tense situation was broken by a series of claps. I turned around and paled. 

It was Fintan. 

A/N: And that's the end of that chapter! Sorry it was so short though. I love cliffhangers, don't you? Actually, I don't. And the lovely Ms. Shannon Messenger has a delightful habit of ending her books with them lately. I need to know what happens!!! Please..... Sigh...... Oh well. 166 days to go I think til Unlocked comes out....
