Going under-Sophie's POV
A/N: Soooooo..... Some of you guys read the chapter before this before I made a slight, but mildly game changing (and more canon-ish) edit I have made at the very end of Closing the Distance-Tam's POV has been made, and it might help further on. I suggest you read it, but that is it for the edits. :)
My thoughts were whirling.
I kissed Tam Song. And I liked it.
I stared up at him, and I found him gazing back down at me, with a sort of awe and wonder.
"Sophie......"
And then he pulled me close, holding me to his chest, whispering to me,
"I thought you weren't going to wake up in time for me to tell you this, but..."
I waited for him to finish.
"I...."
Pause.
"If I had to lose something else for anyone, I'd want it to be you. Or Linh. But you for sure."
Tears filled my eyes, his words melting my heart.
"Tam... Linh.... Me?"
"I...."
And I broke down, weeping, burrowing my head into Tam's chest, and he held me as the memories of Fintan's blazing flames seared my mind, and the smell of the smoke filled my nostils.
I cried out from fear, and grabbed Tam's hands, his shadows curling around my wrists.
But the moment they touched my skin, Tam cried out in pain and terror, his screams forever in my memory.
Elwin came rushing in, but he couldn't stop the shrieks and screams coming from both of us.
As Tam screamed, I heard mine echo his, and every new one brought with a wave of shadows.
I tried so hard to breathe for Tam, for me, to rise above every wave of terror, but I just couldn't.
Tam, I'm so sorry.
When I sank under the waves for the last time, I heard,
I know. I'm here with you Sophie. You're not alone.
Somehow, I knew his hand was reaching for me, and I grasped it blindly, trusting him yet again.
I felt him thrust out his shadows, connected to him, and the shadows around my wrist cinch tighter, like he was keeping me from falling, and I jerked like a limp doll, dangling from somewhere within my mind, and I felt the heat from the flames.
Tam was holding me with his shadows, and we were hanging in the void that I've made by connecting our minds.
I'm about to see what happened to Tam after I was confronted by Fintan.
Is....that Keefe? It's really blur---
Then, the shadows holding me slipped, and I started to fall, and the last thing I saw was Tam dangling from the ceiling, by his right foot.
But didn't that get amputated?
A/N: Ah.... Sorry about the short chapter. Some of the following chapters will be this short though, as a forewarning. But I will try to make some of them longer. I wanted to post this quickly. :)
