Flashing Panic-Linh's POV

A/N: Still no one has read the story except for me when I review them, but that's okay! Maybe someday.... Oh well. :s

Pacing.

Fitz was pacing.

I didn't know Fitz paced, but I really shouldn't be surprised.

Tam was gone too.

It had been almost 15 minutes since Tam and Sophie had disappeared through the mirror.

A long, horrible 15 minutes.

The tears of worry threatened to seep from my eyes, and I let them, pulling the salty liquid into a ball, stretching and pulling it.

Dex was sitting beside me, on the cold, hard floor, staring at his hands.

No, not his hands, I realized. His ring.

I had forgotten all about the Panic Switches. Sophie was always the one pressing the button, and it had always flashed a honey brown.

A/N: I don't remember if they flashed different colors or not, so I just took some creative liberties. Or even if they flashed. *shrugs*

No one except for Dex knew what colors everyone else's panic switches would have flashed, because we didn't press them.

I let my musings occupy my thoughts, for it was better than worrying about Tam and Sophie.

Periwinkle for Dex probably. Or a color that matched his hair. Like a sunset color.

Tam's would be a black light for sure, but that probably wouldn't show up very well. Maybe Dex could get the lights to flash a silver and dark gray sequence. He's pretty smart, and he did ask for Wylie's help when he made us our rings.

A/N: That sounds credible. Okay, I'm going to leave it unless someone says otherwise.

Fitz's ring would probably flash brown and teal. And Biana's flamingo pink and teal.

Keefe's is probably sunshine yellow and an ice blue.

I wonder what mine is. Maybe an ocean blue and silver, the color of the clouds on a rainy day. That would be nice of Dex.

I looked over at him. He was still staring at his ring, his sunset colored hair falling into his face.

A/N: I know it's normally described as strawberry-blond, but I wanted to switch things up a little bit. He's still a cinnamon roll.

I reached over and moved it out of his eyes.

Dex looked up at me, shocked.

Blushing, I whispered, "Your hair was in your eyes. I just moved it so you could see better."

Dex blinked, and his cheeks turned a slight shade pinker. "Oh. Thanks."

I smiled at him, and he sighed.

"No Panic Switch yet?"

"Nope. I hope they didn't forget about them. So many of Sophie's mishaps could end up less...."

"Troubling?" I offered.

Dex nodded. "Yes, but she never presses it!"

He slammed his open palm on the floor, causing Biana to look over at us.

A concerned look etched over her face, and she blinked her way over to us.

"Dex, are you alright?" she asked as her lilac traveling dress settled on the floor next to us.

"Yeah," he sighed.

"It's just that with Sophie and Tam gone..."

"I know. I'm worried too. It's a Neverseen hideout we're talking about, and they're in there alone!"

I bit my lip.

"Do you think the Neverseen are there too?"

Biana looked at me.

"I don't think so, but---"

Dex shushed her. He was staring at his ring again, unblinking.

It was vibrating, and flashing silver, charcoal gray, silver, charcoal gray.

"That's Tam's signal," he whispered.

"Guys! Tam just pressed his Panic Switch!"

Dex fumbled for his Imparter as all the adults rushed to our sides.

Edaline looked frantic.

"Is Sophie with him?" she pressed.

Dex bit his lip.

"I don't know. It's just Tam's light, and his geographical location is somewhere in the Forbidden Cities."

He rattled off a set of coordinates, but I didn't hear them.

Tam is okay, I breathed. And Sophie is probably with him. In the Forbidden Cities.

My heart was pounding. Tam was going to be okay.

All around me, the adults were making a plan to get to Tam and Sophie, before it was too late.
