Coming Clean-Tam's POV

A/N: Hello! I have yet to figure out the endgame, but I wanted to update. So here it is! :D

Gazing at the girl in front of me, I could feel my heart hammering, from colliding with her, I told myself.

But the thought of what I was planning on telling Sophie sent my mouth dry, my palms clammy, and the shadows around me haywire.

I was going to ask Sophie if in her future, if it could be the two of us.

No, not proposing to her, just....

Asking her out.

Which right now, felt sooooooooo  much worse.

She was strong, committed, loyal, stubborn, beautiful, and her spirit.

It was tenacious, and even though she was just a teenager like me, she was so much more than that.

I didn't know if she would be willing to date someone like me, shy, sarcastic, clumsy sometimes, and someone who society detested due to my very existence.

Well, society isn't too fond of her too.... Maybe we can stick together.

Biting my lip, my hands tightened on the tin of mallowmelt I was carrying.

I was halfway sure that the only reason why Sophie hadn't run away crying was because of the promise of her favorite treat, but I wasn't complaining.

Inwardly, I smiled to myself.

Sophie isn't afraid to be herself, and sometimes, that's more than I can be.

Sophie was talking, and I listened, pleased that she was willing to spend more time with me.

We had talked during our time in the Healing Center, but I was worried it was just because of the circumstances.

But maybe my worries, they were unfounded.

Maybe Sophie liked me, genuinely.

Sophie's laugh rung through the air, and I couldn't help but smile.

Relaxing, we walked into Sophie's house, and went up to her room.

Plopping on her bed, Sophie threw off her cloak and held out her hands for the box of mallowmelt.

"Hang on a second! I can;t be sure you won't eat all of it without me!"

I laughed, taking off my cloak and setting it on top of her bed, I sat on it.

Underneath was a simple jerkin, but it was sleeveless, and Sophie's cheeks pinked.

I smiled, hoping that meant something good.

"Mallowmelt."

"Okay. While you're eating......"

I breathed in and out.

"I have to tell you something Sophie."

"I have to tell you something too Tam."

"Okay. You go first?"

Sophie picked up a piece of mallowmelt, chewing thoughtfully.

"How about we say it at the same time?"

Gulping, I nodded.

Things are getting.....serious.......

"1, 2, 3."

"I don't like Biana anymore. I like you Sophie."

"I don't like Fitz anymore. I like you Tam."

I stared at her, and she stared back, eyes widening.

"You mean it?"

She nodded, a blush tinting her cheeks.

Heart pounding now, I reached forward and took her hands, grasping them tightly.

"Sophie, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Yes!"

She threw her arms around me, and I hugged her tightly, elated with her response.

After all the physical, mental, and emotional turmoil we've been through together, I don't know what I would have done if she had said no.

"Wait!"

Sophie drew back from me, and I stared worriedly at her.

Narrowing her eyes, Sophie asked,

"Did you bribe  me? With mallowmelt?"

I chuckled, sighing with relief internally.

"No. It was more of a 'get Sophie's attention/give as a gift in case of rejection' kind of thing."

"Oh!"

Her eyes grew round, and she pulled my head into her lap, stroking my hair, and I let her.

"Anyone who would reject you is an idiot, Tam. But you don't have to worry about that, because you're mine."

I sighed, relishing her touch, and relaxed.

"Sophie?"

"Yes?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"Why were you crying when we collided?"

The stroking slowed, and I grew worried with her silence.

Then, I felt something wet plop onto my cheek, and I shot up, anxious for my (wow) girlfriend's well-being.

Sophie was crying, and I reached for her holding her tightly, like she was doing for me just a moment ago.

"What happened Sophie?"

She was silent for a few more seconds except for a sniffle here and there, the tears flowing quietly.

"Fitz-"

"What happened?!"

"Fitz and Linh-"

Another sniffle.

"They're dating."

The last words came out as a half whisper-half wail.

Linh and Fitz are dating?

A/N: Hooray!!!! An update!!! Yippee!!! And it's mostly fluff!!!! SOOOOOOOOOOTTAAAAMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!
