Chapter Fourteen: Lingering Inside

Play The Hate Inside by Tommee Profitt & Sam Tinnesz

As rain begins to pour down on the city, (Y/N) pushes herself out of Midoryia's arms. Civilians notice this and back away, seeing the pure anger in their eyes. He tries to catch her, but they hit the ground before he can. Midoryia's eyes widen and he attempts to calm them down.

"(Y/N), please, we can fight about this later." He says, "You're attracting too much attention." He decides that speaking in his mind is a better idea, 'Please don't tell anyone about All Might and I. I can explain everything if you just let me.'

"No!" (Y/N) yells, growing angrier and angrier by the second, "You lied to me! You lied to the entire class!"

"(Y/N), please. I will be killed if villains discover that I'm All Might's successor, or maybe they'll capture me. Do you really want to put me at risk because you know nothing about what's happened between All Might and I?"

The toddler has stopped listening. They charge the green-haired boy. At first, he thinks that she's just going to hit him on the leg like a normal child would, but instead, they throw him into a nearby building, using their own version of One for All.

Citizens watch in horror as Todoroki and other members of class 1-A notice the situation and attempt to calm the toddler down. They ignore them. Bright red electricity emits from their body, almost like the green electricity that Midoryia admits when he's using One for All. Instead of it being for that quirk, it's for another, called Consumer. They explode and scream as the power seems to take over. The red electricity covers a 2-foot area around them and then suddenly rushes at the students of class 1-A. It wraps around the six students tightly, almost squeezing the breath out of them.

"(Y/N)!" Todoroki yelps, attempting to speak through choked breaths, "Please, stop this!"

"Why are they so angry anyways?" Bakugo questions, attempting to explode the electricity-like energy and escape.

"Everyone, All Might—"

(Y/N) gets cut off before they can finish their broadcast to the class. Aizawa appears with some other pro heroes and slaps a quirk-cancelling device on the child. They immediately drop to the ground and begin to cry angry tears.

"We'll discuss this later." He says, "For now, get back to your homes."

On the ride home, (Y/N) has fallen asleep in Aizawa's arms. Yamada sits nearby with a stricken look on his face.

"Midoryia said that (Y/N) attacked him and the other classmates of 1-A after (Y/N) said that it was his fault All Might almost lost the fight against All for One. And that their real father is that dangerous villain that All Might was fighting. Keeping them may not be the best idea anymore, Shota." He says.

Aizawa almost seems offended by his boyfriend's comment, "What is that supposed to mean?"

"What if the reason that the villains found you guys during the training camp is because All for One put a tracker on his kid before they left? Maybe he'll leave us alone if we just return them to Shigaraki? Maybe there's a darkness that he put inside them to make sure that they'd always come back. They're too smart for a baby as well, this could all be a lie and they're just trying to learn more about heroes for their father."

Aizawa sighs, staring with loving eyes at the small child in his arms, "I don't think they'd do something like that. Did you see the live feed? They tried to fight their own father. Instead of hurting them, he teleported them away and Midoryia said he wouldn't let them leave. He also tried to protect them by keeping them at the hospital when the rest of the class left to go save Bakugo." He smiles down at the toddler as they stir, "If anything, they're going to be a bigger help of taking down the villains, once and for all.

Later, in August, the dorms are finally set up and ready for the classes of UA to move in. Aizawa gives his short speech, and the class heads inside. After discovering where their rooms are and getting their things from home unpacked, Yayorozu proposes something.

"How about we have a sleepover in the living room for the first day in our new dorms?" The class agrees and she clasps her hands together excitedly.

Aizawa shrugs while holding (Y/N) in his right arm, "I'm guessing you guys want (Y/N) to stay as well?"

The six students, minus Bakugo, stare at the sleeping toddler. After the whole ordeal between them and Midoryia, the green-haired boy still feels slightly scared after seeing them so angry for the first time.

Despite his fear, the green-haired boy nods and takes the tired child from their father's arms. He smiles at their peaceful face, and sighs. While the rest of his classmates look at each other's rooms for a small contest, Midoryia lays on his bed with (Y/N) nearby.

They stir and eventually wakes up, rubbing their eyes and glancing up at Midoriya.

"Why are you here?" They ask, "I don't want to be near a traitor."

Midoryia sighs, "I'm not a traitor. All Might chose me as his successor. He knew the consequences and still chose me. His quirk was already fading because of an injury he obtained from your father."

(Y/N)'s eyes light up and they realise that what Midoryia is saying is true. They hug him and lightly cry on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry." They says, "I guess I was angry."

Before Midoryia can respond, a knock interrupts them.

"Midoryia? (Y/N)?" Uraraka says, "The class is ready for the sleepover. We're watching movies in the common room."

"Come on, (Y/N)," Midoryia says, "Let's go."

The two exit his dorm room and head down to the common room. Sleeping bags and bowls of snacks are scattered all over the floor. The classmates watch many movies—mostly Disney—and spend the night laughing and talking most of the night. (Y/N) and Midoryia eventually pass out in each other's arms.

But when they wake up the next day, (Y/N) has gone missing.
