Chapter Fifteen: Their Absence

Play Paralyzed by NF

After the entire class of 1-A wake up, they search all of the dorm rooms for (Y/N). No luck. Slowly, the entire school gets wind of the drama and they fall into a panic. Aizawa is the last to hear the news, despite living below where they went missing.

"Sho—"

The black-haired teacher rolls the opposite way of Yamada's voice, groaning.

"Sho, please."

Aizawa groans again, leaning back over and sitting up. His black hair falls out of the pony-tail and covers his eyes, "What is it, Hizashi?"

"It's (Y/N).."

Aizawa's eyes nearly bulge out of his head, "What's wrong, what's going on?"

"They're missing." Yamada replies, "We've searched everywhere. We even had Uwabami come in and survey the area. We may have a link.. but—"

Aizawa gets up and changes as Yamada explains that the students have no clue where they went.

"What's the link?"

"I think it'd be best for you to hear it from him."

Aizawa nods, although confused. He leaves his room and finds all the students together in the living room. Clearly, they've been crying. Their homeroom teacher scans their faces. Eventually, his eyes land on Sir Nighteye himself.

"There you are, Eraserhead." He says, "Everyone, you may leave so your teacher and I can chat privately."

So the classmates walk slowly out of the common room and Aizawa sits down beside the other pro hero.

"When we were looking for (Y/N), one of your students found this nearby where the students were sleeping." Nighteye states, holding up a tuft of purple faux fur. "Do you recognize this at all?"

"No, I don't." Aizawa admits.

"It's from a villain."

Aizawa's eyes darken, "What? So, you're saying that a villain kidnapped them right under our noses?"

"Well, yes." Nighteye replies, "But not just any villain. This is a villain that my agency and I have been looking into for a while. At least, it seems that way."

He slips a picture of a man with a red and gold plague mask onto the table. He's wearing a green coat with purple faux fur lining the collar. The picture is clearly taken secretly.

"This is Kai Chisaki, he's the young head of the Yakuza called Shie Hassaikai. He's also known by the villain name, Overhaul. We've been trying to link him to many crimes in the area, but haven't had any luck. We'll continue to investigate this kidnapping and connect him. Otherwise, we might not be able to head after them."

Aizawa nods, not allowing his anger and sorrow control him, "Okay, I understand."

"Some members of my office and I will be watching the student's open areas such as this common room and the entrances to their dorm rooms. If that's okay."

"Whatever it takes to get clues."

The entire school becomes dark with the absence of (Y/N).

Besides their father, class 1-A, specifically Midoriya are the most heartbroken about this. He feels almost responsible about their disappearance. He feels that it's his fault that he didn't notice they were gone or feel anyone pick them up. For the next week, his grades slowly descend and he begins feeling his guilt pile and pile on top until he thinks he's about to snap.

Exactly two weeks after (Y/N)'s disappearance with no sign of any other leads other than Overhaul's faux fur, Principal Nezu holds a small assembly. The students gather in a clear area between the school and their dorms.

"As most of you know," He begins, "(Y/N), the baby that was found just months ago on the street has been kidnapped. Pro heroes who knew them and ones who have volunteered are searching constantly for any leads towards (Y/N)'s kidnapper. So far, there has not been any luck. We hope to find something soon so the loveable baby can come back home. If anyone knows anything, don't hesitate to contact me, Aizawa, or Sir Nighteye. The rest of the day is free so everyone can chat and talk about their feelings."

The crowd silently thanks him and turn to their classmates.

Instead of talking, Midoryia shoves his hands into the pockets of his UA uniform and turns away. He heads back into 1-A's dormitories and attempts to head up to his own dorm. Before he can enter the elevator, Uraraka grabs his arm. She tried to get his attention before he entered the building, but failed.

"What are you doing, Deku?" She questions.

He rips his arm out of her grasp, but pauses when he realizes what he's done, "I'm s-sorry. I just—I don't think I deserve to be out there with everyone else. It's my fault (Y/N) was taken in the first place."

Uraraka glares at him, getting closer, "No it wasn't. The villain took them. Unless...you gave them—"

She pauses, covering her mouth and backing away.

Midoryia waves his hands in front of himself, "N-NO! I didn't do that! It's just..what if a villain saw the fight back when we saved Kacchan? They could have tricked them into leaving wthi them to help All Might? They were so angry about it that they might do that to feel better!"

He continues to mutter, but Uraraka eventually cuts him off, "Deku! We'll find them. Please, just calm down. It wasn't your fault. They'll be okay, they'll come back home."

Midoriya breaks down in tears, "B-But what if—"

Uraraka hugs the green-haired boy, "But nothing. They will come home."

The rest of class 1-A soon enters as well, with a few members of other classes who got to meet them and grew attached.

"No matter what it takes." Aizawa says, crossing his arms as he enters with the class as well.

But Sir Nighteye and the other pro heroes are unable to connect Overhaul and the Yakuza to (Y/N)'s disappearance, so there's nothing they can do. The school does not move on emotionally, but eventually, it's time for class 1-A to do their Hero License exam. At this point, the only thing fueling them is the fact that they may be able to help find (Y/N) if they get their licenses.

Meanwhile, the poor kid is terrified.
