"So, Violet." I put Jay down on the ground and jog up to the gem.

"Yes?"

"Who was this gem that you keep mentioning? Who helped establish the Earth colonies?"

Violet sighs. "I said that I'll tell you later." She reminds me briskly.

"Now is later!" I protest. Dang it, I sound like a whiny little kid.

"Now is not the time, Stella. I will tell you about her later." Violet tells me with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Should I keep pestering her? I sigh. Fine. I run ahead of Violet, catching up with Pine. "Hi, Pine!"

"I told you that you are not allowed to call me Pine, did I not?" Pine growls.

I roll my eyes. Both of the gems are in bad moods because of stupid things. "Anyway, when are we gonna stop for the night?"

"We're not."

"Violet said that we are."

"Well, Stella, I'm not Violet. We are not stopping until we pass the closest gem colony." Pine says dully.

"Why?"

"We're too close to the nearest gem colony. After this one, there's not another colony anywhere for quite a while. I want to get there before we stop."

"It makes more sense just to stop here,then--"

"Stop talking back to me and respect my decisions!" Pine suddenly roars. She then stomps ahead of me.

"What was that?" Ryker asks with a look of confusion.

"Well, the thing about Pine," Violet tells us with a sigh, "is that she has a need to be right. She needs to have her way or else she'll get, uh, like that."

"What should we do?" Ryker glances at the raging gem who's getting quite far away from us.

"We wait." Violet sits down against a tree.

"But-"

"She'll return to us. She has before. This time isn't any different."
