Percy's P.O.V
Chiron blew his horn from the edge of the forest, signalling that the games had begun. I could hear Camp half blood cheering, somewhere to our left. The Romans also cheered, somewhere to the north of us. Let me explain. Earlier on in the day, a huge group of Romans from New Rome came to visit Camp. Chiron invited them to join our games, and as Festus and I were allowed to play, so were a few roman eagles.
"Monos, you, me, Phoebe, Atlanta and Kellan, we're going to go on the offense. We're going to sneak in and grab their flags while another five are used as a distraction. They will be Elizabeth, Catherine, Juliet, Claire and Andrea. The rest of you, camouflage our flag, set traps around the area. Some of you hide in the tree's, shoot anyone you see. The rest of you, protect the flag with everything you've got. We'll go for the romans first. Got it?" Thalia commanded. Everyone nodded.
"Let's go." I said and my group took off in the direction of the Romans. I could hear the Roman's eagle's crying in the sky. They were searching for our flags. Hopefully the hunters have hidden ours well. I could also hear Festus' roaring and Leo's shouting.
"Monos, you take out the guards. Alright?" Thalia asked, running next to me. I nodded in understanding and froze.
"I hear a group coming our way." I hissed. Kellan, a daughter of Hecate, closed her eyes and raised her hands to the air. Her eyes glowed white and she became paler as the magic took its toll. A large patrol of romans walked past, not very stealthily, I might add. We all held our breath as we waited to see if Kellan's spell had worked. Thankfully it had. The romans walked right past us, not seeing us because we were invisible. As soon as we were gone, Kellan stumbled, her spell fading away.
"Wow. That took a lot of my strength." She gasped out. We continued on our way and soon came to the clearing where four romans guarded their purple SPQR banner. I identified them as Frank, Jason, Dakota and Hazel. By the way, Jason was at New Rome at the time so he played on their team today. Hm. A formidable team. Thankfully, just what we needed appeared at that moment. The Hunter's distraction group ran through forest edge, not bothering to be stealthy at all. The four romans lowered their weapons at the group wearily.
"Dakota, go check it out." Frank ordered. He nodded and disappeared into the tree's. I stepped into the clearing, followed by my group. Hazel, Jason and Frank aimed their weapons at us.
"Hazel, do your thing." Frank said. She glared at our weapons and suddenly, I saw them glowing a red hot colour. The hunters gasped and all dropped their weapons. Thankfully, I didn't have a weapon so I leapt at her, knocking her to the ground and distracting her. Thalia grabbed her bow again and quickly took aim. Suddenly Frank the bear rammed into me, hitting me off of Hazel and driving the air from my lungs. I gasped for breath and stumbled to my feet just in time for Frank to bash into me again. I vaguely saw Thalia shoot a tranquilizer arrow at Hazel, instantly rendering her asleep and then they went after Jason. I jumped away from Frank and ducked under a swipe from his big paw. I lunged at his exposed stomach and scratched with my claws. He bellowed in pain and swiped at me again, raking his razor sharp talons across my shoulder. Fur and skin ripped off of my back, blood pouring down. I snarled at him while we circled each other.
"Monos! We got it!" Thalia shouted. Frank looked at them in surprise and I took that opportunity. I lunged at him and bit down onto his arm. He roared as I bit down harder. He tried to make me let go but I knew that he was weakening. He swayed a moment before collapsing, blacking out from the pain. Woops. I turned back to the hunters, licking the blood off of my muzzle.
"Alright, Kellan, Phoebe, Atlanta, you take the flag across the boundary. Monos and I will go after the campers' flag." Thalia ordered. They all nodded and grabbed the flag, running into the forest. Thalia and I ran towards the sound of the campers. I saw Leo sitting on top of Festus, guarding the flag. No one else was in sight.
"Thals. It seems too easy." I whispered to her.
"Easy? But they have Festus." She whispered back.
"Still. I think that there's more than meets the eye." I muttered. We watched them for a bit before Chiron's magically enhanced voice shouted out,
"The Romans have been eliminated by the hunters!" I watched Leo lean down from Festus and I cocked my ears in order to hear what he would say.
"Annabeth, what do you think the hunters will do?" He asked. Okay, I think that Leo has finally lost it. But then I heard a familiar voice answer quietly,
"Don't worry. My plan is unbeatable. They won't win." Annabeth reassured him from next to the orange flag with a black pegasus on it. If I didn't have werewolf hearing, I wouldn't have been able to hear it.
"Of course." I muttered. Thalia looked at me curiously. "She's wearing her invisibility cap." Thalia's eyes widened in surprise. "Stay here. I have a plan." I walked out of the clearing, aware that I was in plain sight.
"Leo." I said with a slight nod. He studied me warily.
"Monos, leave or Festus will burn you to a crisp." He said.
"Oh no!" I said sarcastically. "Your big, dumb, metal pet is going to get me!" Festus must've understood what I was saying as he jumped to his feet, growling at me. I rolled my eyes. "Oh, I am so scared!" Leo's eyes suddenly widened in realisation.
"No Festus, Don't-" He shouted, but it was too late. Festus roared and suddenly, I was engulfed in white hot flames. His flames lessoned and then died down completely. Leo gasped and Festus tilted his head in confusion as to why I wasn't dead. I grinned wolfishly.
"My turn." I murmured and turned into a phoenix. I heard another gasp and suddenly Leo was engulfed with my own fire. I knew that it wouldn't hurt him, but it would blind him. I dived down, my talons outstretched. I grabbed Leo's arm and yanked him, hard. With a strangled yell, he fell off of Festus' back. I landed on the dragons back and swiped my talons at its neck, cutting some wires. With a metallic groan, his eyes dimmed and he collapsed to the ground. I turned back into a wolf on impact. I walked away and towards the flag, knowing full well that Annabeth could be three feet away from me, but I wouldn't know. I looked from side to side, looking for any sign of her.
"I know you're here Annabeth. I can smell your fear." I bluffed.
"Fear? What fear?" She demanded.
"Fear of me. Fear of what you don't know. Fear of being kept in the dark. Much like you are right now." I said, trying to get her to give away her position.
"Kept in the dark? What do you mean 'like you are now'?" She asked, her voice wavering slightly. I pinpointed her to be somewhere next to me. I turned to where I thought she could be.
"Oh, you know. About my true identity." I said, slowly walking forward.
"What do you mean? Your true identity? Who knows about this?" She asked, too curious in the conversation to move away from where she had been moments ago.
"Well, Thalia knows. And if you did too, it would blow your mind." At the last word, I launched myself forward. I hit into Annabeth, caused her to fall to the ground, cap flying off of her head. I growled at her.
"Hello, Nobody." I whispered the last part. Her eyes widened as she scrambled to her feet.
"How-how did you know about that?" She asked, her voice a strangled whisper. I smirked and circled her.
"That wasn't the only secret I know. I know where Percy Jackson is. I know that he loved you. And I know that you lied to everyone." I said. This time, I wouldn't be lying if I said that I could smell her fear. "And all this time that I have been talking to you, distracting you, Thalia has come and gone with your flag." I deadpanned. She gasped and whirled around, to see that the flag had indeed gone.
"No." She whispered, looking shocked. I smirked as we heard Chiron's voice,
"The campers have been eliminated. The hunters win!"
