ESE'S POV

Ese tiredly walked into his class and spared no one a glance. He was hungry, tired, and frustrated because he was late for school for the millionth time throughout his six years of high school. He didn't understand why his parents forced him to keep using the school bus even though he was in his last year of senior high. As he settled into his wooden chair, he had one thing on his mind and that is to eat

"ESE!" Gbemi, his beautiful girlfriend screamed out of joy as she rushed to his seat. Even though she was in her school uniform, Gbemi's dark skin glowed radiantly and her dark brown hair was neatly styled all back, a popular hairstyle in Nigerian schools

However, Ese snubbed her as his whole mind was on the delicious meal that his mom had made for him. Gbemi felt insulted by his cold attitude so she hissed loudly and walked away from him.

Ese was grateful that it was a free period so without delay, he brought out his big food flask from his oversized lunch bag and placed it on his desk. The minute he opened it, the tantalizing aroma of Jolof rice spread throughout the air.

"Guy, how far? Two of us for the food," Gbolex, his classmate shouted. Although he wasn't looking at him, he could bet that he was licking his wide lips and indeed, he was.

After he ate a dozen or more spoons full of his delightful Jolof rice, he felt as though he was re-energized and he could now properly observe everything around him. He looked at his classmate who seemed to be lost in their worlds, gossiping as usual about needless matters. The whiteboard was surprisingly cleaned and the chairs and desks were arranged. Apart from the noises echoing, he could say that his class looked like a class for the first time.

Now that his stomach had been satisfied, he realized that he hadn't greeted his girlfriend so he got up and strolled to three sits after his. A genuine smile plastered on his face as he mouthed, "Good morning."

His smile soon faded into a frown when he received a deadly glare from her. Hmm, she must be angry cause I gave her attitude earlier, he thought to himself. He didn't like this, he never liked when Gbemi was angry so he quickly thought of a way to appease her. Though he knew he was a good saxophonist, he wasn't graced with a melodious voice but he could care less. He sang with his husky voice, letting the lyrics flow to him naturally:

🎶Gbemi oo, oh baby, I'm sorry oo!!! I was hungry o!! Please forgive me my love oo!!🎶

🎶Gbemi oo, oh baby, I'm sorry oo!!! I was hungry o!! Please forgive me my love oo!!🎶

He knew he wasn't a good singer but he hoped that it at least touched her heart.

"Hahaha!," Gbemi giggled mockingly.

GBEMI'S POV

Ese is a stupid boy. What kind of song is that? Gbemi thought to herself but she appreciated that he at least tried something.

"You're a stupid boy, do you know that? Abeg (please) leave me alone," she paused. She continued, rolling her brown eyes, "I know you're cheating on me and that's why you ignored me, right?"

"Ehh! No, never!" Ese denied quickly.

"I don't care," Gbemi shrugged with a playful smirk.

"Babe,  I'm really sorry," he apologized but Gbemi wouldn't just forgive him like that. Though she was sixteen, she knew how she wanted to be treated by people and she certainly didn't want to be snubbed by her boyfriend so Ese would have to work extra hard if he wanted her forgiveness.

"Forgive the poor boy," Ayo pleaded from behind. I don't know who asked that plus-sized Ayo to meddle in my business, she thought to herself. She and Ayo never got along because she pictured Ayo as someone of low standards.

"Ode (stupid), mind  your f*cking business!" Gbemi shot her a deadly glare.

"Abeg (please) take it easy and you don't have the right to shout at me," Ayo waved her hands in the air like a mad girl who just went into labor. Gbemi assumed.

"Ayo, if I slap you ehh that the weight that you're carrying will shrink like those your bleached yahoo yahoo stupid boyfriends (Ayo, if I slap you, your fat body will shrink like your bleached fraudulent boyfriends),"  Gbemi fired.

"Yeh! Ooh!"  Samuel, Suzy, and Divine screamed.

Ayo lost it, she got up and walked close to Gbemi but Gbemi felt unbothered by her fury. "Gbemi, I'm warning you. Watch your stinking  mouth."

Really? Is that all she's got? Gbemi couldn't help but hiss loudly.

"Abeg (please) stop this argument," Ese pleaded.

Gbemi glared at Ese, letting her mouth take control,  "Shut up! You know what? We are over. Yes, we are done. To cut it short, I dump you."

Ese froze, he wasn't expecting that from her. Gbemi didn't care though.

Irayo, a fair-skinned girl with long black virgin hair started singing a popular breakup song by Burna Boy titled, Last Last.

Last, Last, it don cast na everybody go chop breakfast shayyoo!!

"You guys, Mr. Ita is coming," Suzy shouted causing everyone to settle down quietly. Mr. Ita was their principal and he knew how to use a whip. However, Ese didn't move. The poor boy just stood there like a statue processing what just happened.

"Good morning sir," everyone got up to greet him as he walked in with a new student, Gbemi presumed. The boy was tall, and light-skinned, he had light brown eyes, and his black hair was neatly brushed to the back. Ah, some girls will fall for this one she knew the girls in her class and if she were to be honest, she too was already falling for his charming looks.

The principal cleared his throat and introduced, "This is Jerry Chinedu., your new classmate."
