"I'm so sorry... I had no idea" Mugman said taking a deep breath "I was being heartless, I shouldn't have pushed you to say something you didn't want to, I should have respected your answer" Mugman apologized.

"It's fine, I forgive you" Cuphead said his smile small and weak "I will never be afraid again, and keep on fighting till the end" Cuphead exclaimed wiping his tears as his face lightened again.

"I'm so proud of you Cuppy" Cala smiled as Mugman reached for Cuphead's shoulder.

"you're brave, I know you'll be able to pull yourself together" Mugman smiled as his hand landed on Cuphead's shoulder. He then looked into Mugman's sapphire blue eyes, the corners of Cuphead's mouth then curved up into a smile "I hope you know, I'll always be by your side, I will not rest until I see you finally in your mom's arms- now lets get out of here, Elder Kettle really might be awake" Mugman said about to walk off. Cuphead nodded his eyes sparkling with happiness...

As soon Mugman was far enough from Cala and Cuphead- a giant net went over Mugman making him fall to the ground. Cuphead and Cala gasped, before they can help Mugman- a beast came trotting out of the trees. She walked up to Mugman pulling out a knife, the knife was made of a demon tooth and couple of ropes.

"Finally, I get to tear you open!" She hissed bending down putting the knife to Mugman's throat.

"Hey! demon breath! get away from him!" Cuphead exclaimed.

"Yeah! pick on someone your own size!" Cala agreed lifting her fin, smacking the beast into the stream.

"why you little-" The beast looked over at Cuphead, angerly at first then suddenly wide eyed "C-Cup!" She hissed getting out of the stream then backing away "You moronic Mug! how could you ever be this close to a-a... MCCUPETTE!" She growled hissing at Mugman. then in a blink of an eye she gave Cuphead one last hiss then disappeared into a cloud of black smoke.

Cuphead and Cala looked at each other confused, as Mugman tried to get out of the net. Cuphead walked over helping him out- and still confused as to who that creature was and why she acted the way she did.

"What's her deal?" Cuphead asked Mugman as the three friends made their way back down the path they came.

"I really don't know, and I don't know her ether... except, she seemed-oddly familiar- but I can't put my finger on it" Mugman replied thinking long and hard.

"MUGMAN! CUPHEAD!" called a voice from far away.

Cuphead, Mugman, and Cala jumped, recognizing the voice. "Elder Kettle!" Cala exclaimed looking over at Mugman and Cuphead.

"How on earth did he get here???" Cuphead exclaimed.

"Welp, we-are-screwed!" Mugman exclaimed.

Elder Kettle came around the corner, with a young girl wearing red. "there they are!" She exclaimed pointing.

"Thank-you Miss Burg" Elder Kettle nodded at her " now- care to explain yourselfs? I was worried sick!" He exclaimed hands on hips, tapping his foot.

"Hilda!" Cala exclaimed worried for Mugman and Cuphead.

"umm... C-Cuphead... he wanted to..." Mugman thought for a moment, he then met Cuphead's eyes-pleading not to say anything "we..." Mugman took a deep breath "I went out for a swim then a current took me and then Cuphead jumped in trying to save me but he got caught in it too and that's when Cala Maria saw us, we were close to this island so she grabbed us before we got too far then put us on the island!" Mugman said quickly, taking small but quick breaths.

Elder Kettle looked at Mugman, unsure how to, or what to say "I- you- he..." Elder Kettle said stuttering "very well, but do not ever do that again! Cuphead-"

"doesn't know how to swim" Mugman interrupted him "we learned our lesson, for sure!"

"Liars! I see Cuphead come to this island with Cala Maria every day around the afternoon, during your afternoon naps!" Hilda exclaimed crossing her arms.

"Cuphead..." Elder Kettle said looking at him.

Cuphead hesitated to tell him the truth"Maybe... once or..." Elder Kettle lifted an eyebrow, putting his hand back on his hip "ok, fine! I admit- I come here at least... 10 times a week" Cuphead confessed "But it's not that ba-"

"not bad??? not bad??? what in inkwell hell were you thinking?" Elder Kettle exclaimed "This island is forbidden!"

"well... I like this place so... yeah T_T" Cuphead said sarcastically rolling his eyes "and your here too"

"Cuphead Mccupette, DO NOT answer me like that" Elder Kettle exclaimed "do you know what might of happened if I didn't know you boys were here?! I could lose you two!"

"ugh! it's not my fault your suddenly my guardian! I never chose to be here with you! and I most definitely did not choose to even meet you!" Cuphead exclaimed "I'd would rather be with my kidnapper!" He yelled coldly.

Elder Kettle gasped, weak all of a sudden "Cuphead, I-"

"Cuphead... you- you don't mean that" Mugman said approaching Cuphead, his face darkened as Mugman got closer. Cuphead's iris was the only noticeable thing in the darkness, they glowed a bright lava red.

"YES! I MEANT EVERY-WORD!" Cuphead yelled shoving Mugman down " I shouldn't  have even showed you this place! this place is... my secret, the one place I can be calm and escape the world around me- and I just went and made the most stupidest mistake by letting... someone like you see it" He yelled stepping forward, his hands in tight fists.

Mugman sat on the ground, hurt- inside and out. Elder Kettle, Hilda, and Cala watched in shock as Mugman's blue eyes begin to sparkle with tears. realizing what He did Cuphead covered his mouth gasping. He reached out to Mugman attempting to apologize, but Mugman smacked Cuphead's hand before he could get any closer.

"don't touch me!" Mugman sobbed crawling away "I don't need you anyway!" He cried streams of tears going down his cheeks "It's not my fault you have a crappy life! if I were you- I would have just shattered myself!" He cried getting up then backing away "I don't need a brother!" Mugman yelled his heart aching, with saddness.

"Mugman please, I... I didn't mean what I said! I was just- angry!" Cuphead exclaimed as Mugman backed away.

"I-I don't believe you! your mean! a-and heartless, and I thought I was bad!" Mugman yelled shutting his eyes before running into the woods.

"Mugman no! come back!" Elder Kettle Exclaimed stepping forward "darn it Cup!" He exclaimed "Cuphead, and Cala! you two come with me, we have to hurry and get Mugman before he gets hurt!"

"what about me?" Hilda asked

"go scout from the sky to see if you can find Mugman, if you lose him don't worry- just come back and then we can all search the forest for him" Elder Kettle replied.

With that they all went into Jackfruit Forest not knowing what lies ahead.
