Forgive Me?

"Hey Nightmare...?" The smol looked up at the god from the bed, folding the blankets neatly over his lap.
The God paused, glancing over at him from the other side of the room. "Hm? What is it?"
The monochromatic skeleton fiddled with his hands, trying not to break eye contact with the more intimating taller. "...What do you find special about me?"
Nightmare blinked, his expression never changing as he slowly walked over to one of the large windows by the side of the bed and drew the curtains. "What makes you think I find you special?"
"Well..." The smaller swallowed, choosing his words carefully. "For one, you haven't killed me yet."
"What makes you think I won't later?" He glanced at him, a small smirk twitching at the corner of his lips.
"I..." Cross trailed off, looking down at his hands. "...Will you...?"
Nightmare walked round to the other side of the bed, pulling those curtains shut as well before grinning at the smaller. "I have no current intentions to, no."
He breathed out, a relived look washing over his face. "That's good to hear."
The taller hummed, looking down at him for a moment before sitting down on the bed and easing himself down next to Cross. "And to answer your question, you're the only one that's ever shown me an ounce of genuine pity for me."
"I thought you said that you hate people pitying you." He whispered, slowly slipping into a lying position and looking at him.
"I do. That's why I hate it so much when you do it."
"H-Huh?"
He snorted, shaking his head and rolling onto his back, looking up at the roof of the bed. "Don't worry about it Cross. It's just me trying to figure out my own life."
Cross blinked, a soft smile spreading on his face as snuggled close to his side for a moment. "Y'know, I think you've got you're life pretty well figured out already..."
"You think so?" He hummed lazily, amusement thick in his slightly-sleepy voice.
"Mhm..." He nodded, gently rubbing the fabric of Nightmare's shirt with his finger and thumb. "Compared to me anyway."
"Mm...sure..." He mumbled, his eye already shut, breathing slowing. He wasn't really paying attention, half asleep.
"Hey, Nightmare?" Cross sat up, looking down at the God.
"Mm?" He opened his eye lazily, glancing up at him.
"Do you love me...?"
"Sure..."
"That's a pathetic answer."
"Alright, Alright." He held up a hand, motioning for him to lean down by him.
Cross blinked softly, giving him a slightly nervous look before leaning down, letting the taller lean up a bit to whisper in his non-existent ear.
"You're my everything at the moment, I love you~" He chuckled softly, poking his long tongue out to lick the smaller's neck slowly.
He squeaked, immediately jolting back and slapping a hand over his neck. His face burned darkly, flushed a very bright lavender. "I-I--"
"Better...~?" He mumbled, already having his eye closed again as he made himself comfy.
Cross huffed, shaking slightly as he calmed himself and rid his face of the dark blush staining his cheek bones. "S-So...you'd forgive me for anything...?"
"Yeah..." He murmured, limp on the bed. "Anything..."
Cross smiled weakly, shifting away from him and gently swinging his legs off of the bed. Letting his bare toes sink into the carpet, he stood. "That's good to know..."
He sighed, reaching up around his neck to pull his locket off, gently wrapping the golden chain around the heart before placing it Nightmare's hands. "Then I hope you can forgive me for this..."

Killer was lost. He'd somehow managed to take a wrong turn in his journey to get back to Dream and now he had absolutely no idea where he was.
Cursing every profanity he knew, Killer slipped around another corner at the end of a corridor. Holding his breath, he looked left and right, forwards and backwards until he was sure no one was walking down ready to grab him out of the blue. Or out of the black to be more fitting.
"C'mon Killer, don't you dare let Dream down and fail over such a stupid thing." He muttered to himself, clenching his hands into fists and sneaking down the corridor as quick as he dared.
His mind wandered, imagining Dream sat down anxiously in their cell, all alone and scared as he waited for him to come back. It had definitely been over two hours now, and the poor God was probably feeling sick with worry. The thought made his soul clench with guilt, wondering if Dream was okay. He prayed that the smaller didn't try to come out and look for him. With that scratched up leg of his, that would only result in him being caught and then god knows what. They'd probably feed him to that demon down in dungeon with them. He felt sick at the thought.
"Stay patient Dream...I'm coming..." He mumbled, ignoring the steadily increasing pain building up in his skull from his multiple wounds up there.
Suddenly a clatter rang out, and Killer immediately flung himself into the closest open doorway, tripping over his feet several times before he managed to press himself against the wall and hold his breath.
A few voices rang out and he panicked, realising they were both heading his way. He couldn't hear anything more than a low mutter, but they were definitely growing louder and clearer.
The skeleton clenched his eyes shut, tensing as whoever was out there passed by the room he was hiding in.
"Hey, was that door always open...?"
Immediately Killer's whole body went rigid with tension, stiffening in an instant. He bit his lip tightly, his fingertips pressed against the cool wallpapered wall. He frowned, holding back the horrible urge to cough.
"Uh, I don't know. Wanna check if there's a ghost or murderer lurking in there?" The other voice asked with a teasing manner.
"Don't say that! You have no clue what could be in there!"
"Maybe it's one of Lord Nightmare's dogs? They'll rip you apart in seconds..."
"Shut up! You and I both know that the dogs sleep in their own room on the far end of the castle!"
"Yeah, But you and I both also know that they're free to roam both the inside of the castle and the outside whenever they please. So maybe one's in there right now listening to us bickering."
"If that's true then let's fricking go!" The other hissed, footsteps ringing out right after, walking away.
"Alright Alright! Wait for me!" The other called before also running off.
Killer let out a loud sigh of relief, slumping against the wall. That was way to close for comfort. He swallowed harshly, slipping out of the room and glancing around. There was no sign of the two people he assumed were servants.
But now with that extra knowledge that those wretched dogs could be roaming the castle all night, he proceeded with even more caution than before.
He tiptoed down the corridors, glaring at all the hung up paintings to see if he could recognise any of them. "I refuse to be lost." He growled, turning down a random corner before pausing.
That painting... He looked up at it, a spike of hope jumping in his soul. He sped up, a grin forming on his face as he passed a familiar wooden table with an ornate vase on it. He knew where he was.
He started running, not even caring about the loud sound that his trainers hitting the floor made. He skidded around another corner, his face lighting up as he saw the familiar dark steps that lead down to the dungeon. "Found it!"
He went down the stairs quickly, pushing the large double doors wide open and striding into the dungeon layout.
Immediately from his cell, Dream's head jerked up, his face immediately deflating in relief. "Killer! What on earth took you so long?! Do you have any idea how worried I've been?!"
The taller rusher over, immediately heaving the heavy door open before pulling Dream into a tight hug. "I'm so so sorry, I tried to get back as soon as I could, but I got lost."
Dream buried his face into his chest, hugging him as tight as possible. "I-I thought you'd been caught, o-or died, or l-left me for dead!" He shook, digging his face into his hoodie.
"Oh Dream you should know I'd never do the last one..." He muttered, rubbing the top of his skull.
He sniffed, nodding weakly. "W-Well did you find my soul?"
Killer winced, shaking his head. "No...I'm sorry."
"It's okay..." He mumbled.
"But I did see something else." He said, suddenly remembering how hat he saw Nightmare doing with his mortal.
Dream frowned, looking up at him. "What was that?"
"It was Nightmare and the mortal..." He muttered, cupping his cheek with a hand.
"What did they do...?"
"Kissed."
Dream froze, and despite being a skeleton, his face paled. "A-Are you serious? You're not making this up?"
"No."
Dream looked away, pushing himself from Killer's chest and clenching his hands into fists. "That ignorant prick, he should know what he's getting himself into."
Killer gave him a quick glance of confusion but shook his head. "Subject change Dream, I know that sounds pretty uh, serious. But we need to worry about how we're going to get out of here and find your soul."
"I can help you with that."
The two whipped around, looking out of the barred cell to see a figure stood outside, a lit candle held in their hand. It's flame flickered, illuminating their face and showing their mismatched pupils.
It was the mortal.
