Ch. 47 - Decisions, Decisions.
Christmas Eve.
Mykailla gave up on ordering things from Amazon, and just let the bedding go, though she asked Chris to "Be a good band mate, and friend, and buy your friend some more damn bedding.". For her gifts, she just stayed with the guitar strings, art stuff, cat sweater, and a drawing, that was the right amount of beautiful, creepy, and twisted.
She also went out and bought him a promise ring.
Mykailla was sitting in the living room, quietly wrapping her presents, as she waited for Ryan's call. She put the last thing- the cat sweater- into the bag, that was holding everything. The last thing on the table, was the small ring box.
She leaned forward, and rested her elbows on her knees, as she looked at it. Would it be weird, if she gave it to him? Girls don't usually do that..
But then again.. Their relationship, is anything but usual.
With a quiet sigh, she snatched the small ring box from the coffee table, and flipped the lid open.
It was a simple, black band; not unlike Devin's. The only difference being, that the inside was a dark purple.
Purple was his favorite color.
Right as Mykailla snapped the lid shut, her phone rang. She gently tossed the box into the bag of presents, before grabbing her phone off of the cushion next to her.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Ryan."
"Yes, I know," Mykailla chuckled, leaning back. "I saw your face and name, on my caller ID."
"Smarty pants." Ryan chuckled. "So what'd you need?"
"I wanted to know your opinion, on something else I got Rick."
"Okay. What is it?"
Mykailla glanced at the bag of presents again. ".. Promise not to laugh?"
"Promise."
"Okay, well.. It's a promise ring."
"..." Ryan wasn't quite sure how to respond. ".. Okay." He said carefully.
"Do you think it's a bad idea?" Mykailla asked.
"I.." Ryan shrugged. "I don't see how it could be."
"You don't think it'll weird him out, or something?"
"Of course not. If I'm being honest, I don't know how often he'll wear it, though."
Mykailla frowned a little. Yeah, he probably wouldn't.
"But," Ryan continued. "If he doesn't wear it on his finger, he'll probably put it on his necklace."
".. You think so?"
"Yup. What kind of ring is it?"
"Just a simple black band." Mykailla shrugged. "Kinda like Devin's, but the inside is a dark purple."
"Why purple?"
"Because purple is his favorite color." Mykailla chuckled. "You didn't know that?"
"Alright, listen," Ryan sighed dramatically. "Just because we live together, doesn't mean we talk like teenage girls, at slumber parties."
"Yeah?" Mykailla snickered. "So you don't braid each other's hair, or paint each other's nails? Or talk about boys?"
"Well, we don't do that stuff anymore." Ryan joked.
Mykailla laughed. "You dork."
"I know." Ryan chuckled. "I gotta go. See you tomorrow, right?"
"Yup! Bye~"
"Bye, my love." Ryan said, all dramatically.
"Shut up." Mykailla giggled. "Goodbye, Ryan."
"Bye," Ryan chuckled, then hang up first.
~
"Who were you talking to?" Ricky asked Ryan, as the former entered the living room. The latter restarted the game that he had paused, prior to calling Mykailla. "I heard a 'my love'," Ricky teased. "You got a girlfriend, now?"
"Nope, I was talking to yours." Ryan smirked at Ricky briefly, as the latter sat down, leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees, so he could see the TV better.
"Stop flirting with my girlfriend." Ricky shoved at Ryan a bit, frowning. "She's not yours, and you can't have her."
"She could be, if you two break up~" Ryan hummed.
He didn't believe that Mykailla and Ricky would ever break up, but he loved to irritate Ricky.
"Shut up. That's not gonna happen."
Ryan just chuckled.
Ricky sat there silently for a couple minutes, before speaking again. "Hey, Ryan?"
"Hm?"
"Can I ask your opinion on something?"
"People seem to be asking my opinion a lot," Ryan commented, shrugging. "But sure, ask away."
"About how long should you wait, before proposing?"
...
Ryan paused his game, turning his head to look at Ricky. "Are you serious?"
".. Yes."
"You want to marry Mykailla?"
Ricky nodded a bit. "Yes."
"Is she pregnant, or something?"
"What? No-!" Ricky frowned. "Well, I mean, I hope not.." He shook his head, waving his hand. "That's not the point. No, no she's not pregnant. I just- I want to marry her."
Ryan shrugged after a moment, setting his controller down. "I mean, I don't see why you two couldn't get married, but I think it might be a little soon.." Ryan shrugged again, putting his hands up. "But, that is just my opinion. I'm not telling you not to do it."
"Well, see, I was warring with myself, whether It was too soon," Ricky said. "Because, I mean, we've only been dating almost a year, but we've known each other since- well, since forever, almost."
"Yeah, but I don't know if that really counts, for much." Ryan said carefully. "Because you guys hated each other for almost the entirety of that time."
Ricky nodded slightly in agreement. "True.."
"But," Ryan continued. "On the other hand, you two know each other extremely well- that's what Chris told us, anyway-, and that's gotta count for something."
"So.. So you think it wouldn't be completely crazy, to ask her to marry me?"
"I think," Ryan thought a moment, picking his controller back up. "I think that, in my personal opinion, it's a little soon. But I think that if anyone could make it work so soon, it'd be you two." He started his game again. "I support you, in whatever decision you decide to make, dude."
Ricky hesitated, before nodding. "Thank you, Ryan." He stood up, and pulled his phone out, checked the time, and headed to the door.
"No problem," He glanced at Ricky. "Where're you going?"
"To find a ring."
