17 - Order//Chaos//Tribunal
"Well, here we are again Fedora", Dance chuckled, looking rather pleased at his taking of one of the Hydes, even if it was the more...unexciting one. Lottie's breath rasped and her eyes matched her father's, the same dark, possessed pools where they used to see. "Another one to add to the Puzzlebox's collection". They had taken refuge in The Daily Truth's news office, and Protheroe was happy to oblige, especially as Lottie was unable to do anything now. Dance heard a quiet flap of wings behind him as he admired his work.
"And a hearty congratulations to you, Miss Semira", he said, spinning around. "You made a mighty fine Jekyll". Semira just chuckled, her wings melting into her back.
"I would hope so. It wasn't exactly easy to try and trick a telepath into thinking something different to reality".
"And I have to admit, the fake mugging was quite a nice touch"
"Got blood all over my dress trying to cut her head open though", Semira whimpered, straightening out the crimson splattered creases in her satin skater dress. "Does she know?"
"What, that you've been impersonating her for the last day, and got into character so much that you forgot you weren't her?"
"I didn't 'forget', I'm just a better actress than you".
"No, she doesn't". Semira pulled back her blonde hair and threw it over her shoulder, leaning against the wall.
"So..." she started, clicking her fingers. "Why do you need her? Why can't we just...send her back where she came from?"
"Because she is needed for my plan. Do you know the tale of the Triumvirate, my dear?"
"Can't say I do".
"Well, then. This is all rather confusing then for you", he started and pulled up a chair, sitting in it. "See, the Jekyll family have derived from Heaven and Hell, that's what the two sides represent. The Jekyll side is the angel side, the Hyde the half-angel, half-demon side, and another side, the Bloodlusted Hyde, is the demon side. The Triumvirate are the three siblings representing these...categories. The Order, the Chaos and The Tribunal".
"So, the Order is the Jekyll; the Tribunal the Hyde, and the Chaos the Bloodlusted Hyde?"
"Yes. And, we have caught the Order. There's no stop to what the Chaos can do now; he will tear the world apart for us".
"Lottie...is the Order?"
"No Hyde side. She is a pure angel".
"Where's her wings then?"
"Her what?"
"Her wings. And her halo, like in the in books".
"Oh, you are a novice, aren't you?"
"Really, because a few moments ago you were saying how good I was".
"At impersonating people. But I'm afraid your knowledge on myths and legends is a dead-end".
"Charming".
"Aren't I just?"
"Not a compliment, sugar", she started. "So Robert is the Chaos, making Olalla..."
"The Tribunal. The one that is neither good or evil, angel or demon. MIO will want her to try and destroy all monsters".
"Then what do we do?"
"Well", he said walking towards Lottie. "It would be a shame to waste such power that we have".
"But she is a Jekyll. She is powerless".
"Not with this", he lulled, and held up the Jezequel amulet, holding it firmly by its golden chain.
"You wouldn't", she threatened. "Setting one against the other and see which race survives?"
"The survival of the races of monster or human depends entirely on which one gets there first".
"This is so confusing".
"Right, okay, simplest terms. We have Lottie and we have the amulet. MIO will probably take in Olalla, giving that she is the only sane, nee controllable sibling left. Our spies have told me that they are in the possession of the Jekyll Ring, so they will use her to destroy all the monsters, because that's their ultimate goal. So, we send forth our champion, and, if we can, we will pave a new world, for just monsters".
"And Robert Hyde?"
"He will do his own thing, probably nothing major, if his Hyde side is anything like his Jekyll side".
"His name is the Chaos".
"A title, simply. I mean, my title is Captain Dance, but you don't see me going ballroom dancing, do you?"
"Well I don't know what you do in your spare time".
"I used to take Fedora dancing once".
"You do know her name is Lottie, don't you?"
"She went by many names, but she will always be Fedora to me. Fedora..." he trailed off, leaving Semira in the room with Lottie. She checked to see if he was gone, then went up to Lottie.
"Abaddon", she whispered and slunk out of the room.
