Recruiting || Chapter 7
Wanda
I finally have her. I finally found her. After all these years, she's finally here. I'm glad my search has finally come to an end. Now the girl can become what she was destined to be. A Traveler. Becoming a traveler is the best job to have at hand. Travelers have more respect then others, if you ask the society we live in today. Traveler's have greater responsibility then others, and I'll make sure she's ready for it. It's what her mother would want. It's what others would want too. She stops in front of a colorful door. She pulls out a type of card, and slides it in the slot provided.
The door within seconds open, revealing another white room with a narrow hallway. She enters, fanning her hand for Allison to follow. She walks steadily down the hall. She looks at the different compartments as she passes by, with people examining in on others. She saw as some people were getting technical implants in there arms, while some were getting recharged. She knew this probably awed Allison and turned back to take a glance at her. As she predicted, Allison was staring with her mouth gapped.
"Where are we?" She heard her ask.
"This is the hospital station. People come here when they are harm, or in need of assistance." Wanda answers. She leads her into another, but shorter hall.
They walked together a little bit further, until they enter another room. This room was similar to the one they entered not so long ago, but the only thing different about it, was the curtains on either side of each compartment. Wanda stopped at the first compartment in the front. She pulled the curtain back and gestured for Allison to enter.
"In here." She whispered. She didn't have the heart to disturb others while they attend there needs.
Allison followed suit, and entered the compartment. Once she entered, she entered as well closing the curtain behind them. She walked over to the back wall and tapped her hand against it. When she did that, a virtual computer screen appeared on the wall.
"What are you doing?" Allison spoke up.
Wanda waited a minute, before answering her question. "Recruiting you."
After that she didn't get another question out of her. So she just continued on her tasks; recruiting. She tapped on a new file, and began typing in new information. She was of course going to be filling in information about Allison. Some she already knew, and some she had to ask about. So she began with the first question.
"How old are you?" Wanda ask with a pause of her typing.
It was silence before she spoke. "I'm sixteen."
She quickly typed that in before moving along with the next question. "Birthday?"
"August the twenty-forth." She replied slowly.
"Eye color?" Wanda asked next.
"Um...there green." She said.
"Height?" She asked right after.
"What's that got to do with anything?" Allison asked.
"Before I can recruit you properly, I need to know all information about you. Including personal information." She said the last part as a whisper before getting back to her inputting.
While she typed in all the information she could get from Allison, she couldn't help but think about how she would adapt to this environment. Would she catch on as fast? Would she even fit in? All thoughts came to her, which made her slightly concern for the girl. But even though she knows her mother, she don't know anything about her. She wants to know more about her, but she knows that her kind isn't allowed to show such affection towards humans. She got caught with her mother. She doesn't want to put her daughter at risk. Once she was done inputting, she tapped a certain button on the virtual computer. Seconds later, a small key card came out the slip.
She pulled the card out and held it in her hand as she turned around and pulled an outfit from a certain spot. She of course checked the size before turning around to face her.
"Here. You'll need to put this on." She said as she handed the suit for her to take.
She hesitantly took it from her. Wanda watched as she unfolded the suit to look at it.
"What's wrong with the clothes I got on?" Allison questioned with a blank look on her face.
"The clothes you have on is way, past our time. And plus, if the greater one's above us seen you wearing those clothes, you would be stripped from your recruit." Wanda says with seriousness in her voice. She watched as Allison's face paled a little before nodding.
"Alright, I'll step out and give you privacy. If you need anything I'll be behind the curtain." With that said, she exit the compartment and waited patiently for her to undress.
While she waited, she decided it was nesassary to make a quick call. She dialed in a number on her watch-a-droid and waited to be connected to her caller.
"Main general speaking?" A females voice on the other end replied.
"Ah yes, I'd like to ensure you that I got the girl. She shall be dressed and send to sessions right away." Wanda spoke back into her watch-a-droid.
"Wonderful agent Wanda! I just knew you'd get the job done as said." The main general said with joy.
"I already input her into the system, so the greater one's before us can approve. I honestly hope they do." She whispered that part, just in case Allison was over hearing the conversation.
"Well she is kinda considered an outsider. She was living in a world full of them!" The general exclaim.
"I know. But she is also part of the mother. That makes her different in some ways." Wanda said defensely.
"I guess you're right about that. Well, I have to go. Keep me updated about the girl." And with that said, she ended the call.
She just sighed, and dropped her wrist by her side. She heard movements inside the compartment. When she turned around she saw as Allison stepped out.
"Well how do I look?" She asked.
Wanda just stared at her, as she looked at her more clearly. The way the suit outlined her appearance made her stood out differently. How she stood with the white buckle and stripes around her body, made her look appreciated and significant. She looked beautiful. The way she looked made her look more like her mother. Pretty in every way imaginable.
"You look like you're mother." She said with a small smile.
"You think so?" Allison asked with curiosity.
Wanda chuckle. "I know so. Now here." She handed her the key card.
She took it. "What's this?"
"It's a PC. 'A Pass Card.' It's a card that has information about you, and your identity of who you are. It will also help to get you pass certain doors." She added quickly.
"So this is a PC?" She watched as she looked at it very closely.
"I would prefer you put that in your pocket, or else you'll loose it. You only get one." Wanda warned.
Allison felt around for a pocket until she found one by her hip.
"Okay, now follow me." She said and began walking away.
She heard Allison not so far away behind her, as she followed along. Wanda led her into another hall and came to a sudden stop. She turned around to face Allison.
"This is as far as I can go." She said.
She watched as the girl's eyes got big.
"What do you mean? I don't know my way around here!" Allison exclaim.
"You won't get lost if I give you directions, now listen carefully. You see that door behind you?" She pointed behind her.
Allison turned behind herself to look. "Yeah."
"Okay, that's the door that's going to take you to your sessions. Once you get there, there are people who will help lead you to how everything works around here. And remember to show them you're PC so they can know who you are. Do you get what I'm saying?" She pauses to stare at her sternly.
She nods quickly.
"Good. Now come, I'll show how to enter the doors." She says and walks over to the door.
"Give me your card." She asks.
Allison just follows suit and gives her her card.
"Now watch carefully." Wanda says seriously.
She takes the girls card, and slides it into the slot on the right hand side. She types in the pin on the back of the card. The door immediately opens.
"Remember to slide your card to enter a door, okay? Entering it the wrong way can damage your card." Wanda informs, as she gives her back the card.
"Now get in."She instructs.
Allison enters, but slowly turns around to face her. "Will I see you again after this?" She asks.
Wanda was quite for a minute before giving a specific answer.
"I don't know about that, but you will see me around. Just follow the rules and please stay out of trouble. There are certain rules that you have to follow, so don't think more of it. I wish I could tell you more, but this is as far as I come as an agent. I'm counting on you Allison." Wanda spoke sincerely to her, but it quickly changed as she checked the time.
"You have to go. Remember what I told you." She ushered her in the entrance.
"But there's so much I want to know from you." Allison argues.
"I'm not the one for that. Now please listen to me and go." She spoke as softly as she could to her. She had to make her understand. She just had to.
"Okay, I'll go." Was the only thing Allison said as she backed further onto the other side.
Wanda looked at her one more time, before pressing the button for the door to close. She backed away and wiped a tear from her eyes, before it ran down her face.
"I'm counting on you."
