It was a breezy day in your hometown. However, the autumn sun was shining bright, creating the perfect opportunity for you to take Joshua on a walk.

Not-so-surprisingly, this week had been wonderful so far. Last week, after the smallest bit of convincing, Joshua agreed to come along with you to spend Thanksgiving with your family and to get to know some of your childhood best friends.

You both were still in that early phase in your relationship, but Joshua was more than ready to take the next step, and he was proving it to you during this trip.

You led Joshua to an abandoned trail just outside your neighborhood that you had been to countless times throughout your childhood. As he asked you more about the trail and the adventures you had while along it, he couldn't help but swoon; the fact that you felt comfortable enough around him to take him to your sacred walking path and speak so freely and passionately about the area made him feel so special and warm inside.

If he hadn't been watching you so closely, he probably wouldn't have noticed your shaky hands peeking out of your coat. The tip of your nose was also turning a light shade of red from the drop in temperature.

Wordlessly, he interlaced his fingers with yours and continued listening to the story of when you were 6 years old and discovered this trail, pretending you were stranded like in all those survival reality shows you used to watch on TV at the time.

You wanted to stay out with Joshua a little longer, knowing that once you returned home you wouldn't get any time alone together. Unfortunately though, your feet were beginning to feel numb and if you didn't get inside in a few minutes, you were 100% sure that your toes would fall off.

"Your hand is warm."

Joshua grinned and took his free hand out of his hoodie to grab your other one. He adored the fact that he could easily wrap his entire fist around your tiny hand. He brought your hands up to his lips and breathed on them, trying to warm them up a little quicker.

"That's why we work. I promise i'll always be here to warm you up, as long as you stay to cool me down. Deal?" His words were simple and silly, but the true meaning behind his words were nothing but serious.

You grinned wildly at him and nodded
in agreement. "That'd be nice."

"Yeah?" Joshua mirrored your smile as he placed a few kisses your cracked knuckles.

"Mhm, I'd like that. Now lets get inside before my feet snap off." Joshua stifled a chuckle when he realized you were serious before motioning for you to jump on his back. He carried you back up to the exit of the trail, a smile plastered on both of your faces the whole way back.
