That night Elron slept in a large cave on a mountain side. It was probably the best night of his life, he was able to sleep without permission from a human, or not in a stable, he didn't really care that it was uncomfortable. He slept late, it was almost ten when he woke up.

That morning he went hunting, for the first time in his life, without human permission. He caught a large buck which he flew back to the cave and devoured quickly. He took a bath in a nearby stream, for the first time in his life, without human permission. 

It wasn't as nice as the baths he did get from the humans but he loved the feeling of natural water running over his scales. He took a huge draught of the fresh mountain water. It was almost sweet. He smiled and rolled onto his back, this was the life. 

He sighed, and thought back to his friends with the humans in control.

'They deserve this as well,' he thought, 'Well, I guess its time to put that plan into action.'

He rolled over and onto his feet, still in the streem. He opened his wings and took of, flying through the air with incredible speed. Elron laughed, freedom was the greatest thing he had ever experienced. He flew over a nearby town, passing over it in a blur.

He flew for over half the day before finally reaching the forest that lead to the desert. He landed in a small clearing, and stretched. Now he just had to wait for a dragon to pass by. He new that every second day they sent out dragons on missions. If he went yesterday that would mean that he would have to wait until tomorrow for a dragon to pass by, but he could be lucky enough to have a dragon going in the other direction. 

He sat down on the grass, and waited, he didn't want to risk flying, just incase a dragon did come and see him. He occupied his time by making a metal nest. He loved to create things with his metal breath, and often made sculptous, but the humans usually through them out of sold them. He worked for hours one the nest, adding a bit here and there, then cutting it off if it was to long. 

It was night time when Elron got the edge of the nest finished. Now he just needed to add the middle and polish it up. He curled up in the nest, and fell asleep, but he had his ears open. Even the slightest sound of a dragon's wingbeat would have awoken him, but nothing did happen. 

That next morning Elron woke up late again, he loved the fact that he could now sleep in. He yawned and stretched. He heard a small stream nearby and scouted it out to take a drink. He took a few long draughts then walked back to the clearing, and went back to his nest.

It was near mid day when he heard the first wingbeats. He tensed up, the hurridly made his back dull and his in the bush, with his half finished nest. A red dragon flew by, with a rider on its back. Elron listened for anymore dragons, then when he was sure there wasn't anymore he flew after the dragon.

The dragon was a male, and was flying slowly, for a dragon, and was trying to listen to his rider while consintrating on flying straight ahead. The rider was bold, and had a large assault rifle strapped to his back. 

Elron quickly rose above the dragon and rider, flying silently, not even making a sound. The rider blabbled on about how he was in charge and was going to do this mission affectively, and if they failed then it would be all the dragon's fault.

Elron growled slightly, he hated humans like that. The dragon cocked his head to one side slightly. Elron widened his eyes. If the dragon saw him then he would have no chance but to attack, and without the surprise he might not be able to get the device of the dragon without killing him.

The dragon then looked forward again, seeming uninterested in the sound he had just heard.

'Phew!' thought Elron, 'That was a close one. Okay, lets do this.'

He swooped down towards the dragon. The human was suddenly cut short when Elron drove his extra sharp tail through his heart. The human gasped. Elron quickly put the end of his tail into the small whole it the controlling device on the dragon's head, then cut through the wires. The device toppled from the dragon and fell towards the ground and into the trees below. 

Elron pulled his tail out from the man's chest and flicked him off the dragon's back. The dragon continued to fly for a few more metres then suddenly stopped and turned towards Elron with a snarl. His eyes widened in surprise.

"Elron?" he said.

'Roackata!" said Elron with a laugh, "It's you!"

He spoke in the human language.

"What are you doing here?" he said, "Why... how did you kill the rider, and... what did you do to me?"

"Wow," said Elron, "Stop asking so many questions, one at a time."

Roackata smiled, "Okay then, what did you do? I feel great!"

Elron smiled, "I set you free. You are no longer under the human's rule."

Roackata stared at Elron with disbelief. He seemed to realise something. He reached up with his tail and touched the place where the device used to be. His eyes widened again. He roared in happiness.

"Thankyou so much!" he said, "I was beginning to loose hope and then... I don't no how to repay you!"

Elron laughed, "Just help me free the other dragons, and then we can do what ever we want."

Roackata nodded, "And kill those human scum."

Elron nodded his head.

Roackata gave a toothy grin, "Then I'm in!"

Elron laughed, "Okay then, follow me."

He lead Roackata to the small clearing and they both landed there.

"I"ve got a question?" said Roackata.

"Yeah," said Elron.

"How did you escape? I mean, you did pull it off the first time, that spread around the stables like wildfire, but how about the second, did you pull it off a second time?" asked Roackata.

Elron shook his head, "No, but I did learn of a way to take them off without much pain and it's quick."

"How?" asked Roackata.

Elron went on to explain how the human helped him get the device off and get back his freedom. Roackata was intrugged, especailly when Elron mentioned that a human had helped him.

"So they not all bad," said Roackata with a thoughtful look.

"Not all," agreed Elron, "But most are."

Roackata nodded. 

"Hey," said Elron, trying to lighten the mood, "Being free is great, isn't it?"

Roackata laughed, "That it is, and all dragons should be allowed this privilige. What's the plan?"

"Well," said Elron, "First of all, I want to fly around and free as many dragons as I possible can, at least most of them, that is. Then, once we have enough, we are going to attack the human base, and rescue the rest."

"Why don't you just fly in a destroy everything?" said Roackata.

"They have magnets," replied Elron, "Giant magnets, big enough to catch me in my metal form. With extra dragons we will have the ability to destroy those magnets and completely destroy the base. Besides, if I come head on with and electric dragon... well electricity runs through metal really well, and you'll no what will happen."

Roackata nodded, "Okay then, it's time to rescue dragons."

For the next few months Elron and his growing number of dragons flew around, rescuing every dragon they could. The army base was getting nervous, with a growing number of missing dragons they were beginning to think that the enemy had come up with something to conteract there dragons.

An army officer stormed into the lead scientist's lab.

"What the heck is happening!" he screamed, "for almost a month now dragons have been disappearing. Fewer and fewer are making it back, we have half the number we had a month ago. You need to do something about it, find out what is making the dragons disappear!"

The scientist stared up coolly at the officer, "I suggest an all out attack. Send out a hundred dragons, see what happens then."

Scarlet was laying by the door when she heard what was happening. The scientist had been doing a check up on her, she seemed to be getting ill, but really she was just extremely worried about Elron. She new he was free, or at least, she hoped he was, and now that she had finally figured out what has been happening to all the dragons, she was beginning to feel the hope that had been dormant for so long, start to stur.
