96. Loving the Outsider

At that moment Emmanuelle was giving Vincenzo's uncle Antonio his deadly look and that concerned Vincenzo. His godfather against his uncle was not an ideal situation. He knew his uncle may have been in deep trouble this time. Emanuelle didn't play when it came to his wife. Even though his wife was more than capable of protecting herself as a Giovanni, it didn't matter. It all depneded on how his uncle handled it. If his uncle insulted Emanuelle he was dead. Whatever Emanuelle was going to say, his uncle Antonio had to accept and not argued if he wanted to leave the room alive.

Emanuelle's stare was not leaving Antonio's who was now standing opposite seated form of Vincenzo. Emanuelle  suggested in a cold tone " What do you think we catch up over a cup of coffee?  A chat is long over due... Don't you agree?  We can make lovely cappuccinos in every meeting room. What can I say? It's not my cup of Irish cream drink but you Italians like these things. Have to have coffee machine for my wife in this place in every meeting room..."

Antonio responded in a respectful manner " Of course..."

Emanuelle ordered without his gaze leaving Antonio " Vincenzo. Step outside while I deal with your uncle over a cup of coffee..."

Vincenzo didn't move and stood up " Deal with him? What do you mean?"

Emanuelle looked sharply at him "  I am not in the habit of repeating myself son... Out...."

Vincenzo didn't move. "No... I would rather be present... He didnt hurt Dr Giovanni  ....." The urge to protect his uncle was great in ways that surprised his uncle too.

Emanuelle raised an eyebrow " I know son, that your uncle did not hurt my wife. That is why he is alive and breathing at this moment in your presence... But son, I dont think I said, you have a choice to stay or leave... Out..."

Antonio glanced at Vincenzo and instruected him " Go outside. Now Vincenzo. Get back to your lessons..."

Vincenzo only agreed to make a move just because his uncle asked him to.

O'Neil did not appreciate how his godson defied him but Vincenzo even defied Francesco.

As Vincenzo started to slowly move away from the table, O'Neil spoke " This is hilarious Vincenzo. You do take your uncle's side when you don't need to. Your uncle and I have our differences. You know that well. Yet I don't see you showing the same commitment that you earlier on. I saw no hesitation from you today when you defended your girl against everything your father stands for. You refused to break up with her when she hurt your sister...."

Vincenzo had to bite his tongue. He was not going to reply disrespectfully like how he wanted to. Answering back to O'Neil carried a heavy sentence. Vincenzo would have answered back with some colourful words if anyone else spoke to him in such accusing tone but not to O'Neil. He replied in a cold and passive tone " I think that's a misunderstanding. I care for my blood...."

Emanuelle raised an eyebrow " A misunderstanding? I don't follow. You either are with your father or against him. You either dump that girl or you don't. That was an easy choice. If you were my own son, I would have given you a good lesson now for even muttering the word, misunderstanding ... But lucky for you, I am not your father.... Go count your lucky stars. Now go outside. I don't like waiting..."

Vincenzo balled his hands into fists wanting to punch Emanuelle but of course he didn't have a death wish. Emanuelle acted like the honourable Irish man he was but he was brutal. His charming and playful exterior fooled many but he was a ruthless dictator in a world of business. He took no prisoners.

Vincenzo sighed and picked up the verdict paper from the desk when Emanuelle stopped him "Wait. What is that?"

Vincenzo sighed. Of course O'Neils were observent... He offered the verdict paper to O'Neil as he explained " Its Letizia's verdict. I asked my uncle to come here for this... to help me with modifying this verdict."

Emanuelle raised an eyebrow and turned to Antonio "Really? He came here for this... Wow, Antonio... I dont think Francesco would be very pleased to hear about this,...." He then turned around to  look at Vincenzo as he took the verdict paper and had a look at the paper" And my son has allowed you to do this or you are just doing this yourself? .... That is not very likely for this to get the approval stamp from my wife if my son doesn't back this up."

Vincenzo nodded " He had to say yes because I was going to start a war and my sister broke up with Tristan and took my side. So he had to get Vienna back by agreeing."

Emanuelle rolled his eyes as he was reading through the paper " Of course .... Your sister is your mother's daughter.... But don't get used to this. The son I have raised doesn't give into black mail."

Vicnenzo retorted " This was no blackmail... I stated a fact to him... As for my sister, I wouldnt have let her get involved if I had known. I would have spoken to her to call this off. I was proud of her for sticking up for family but it was unnecessary for her to break up with your son..."

Emanuelle looked thoughtful as he looked up at Vincenzo's eyes " Do you know what i think? I think he must have not pushed this because he doesn't care if your girl lives or dies... That's right son... If you don't let your girl learn a lesson on school grounds, she would face a backlash off the school premises from someone else... Whatever you decide is at Letizia's peril... My son wouldn't mind seeing her dead body appearing in the desert after she crosses the wrong people so he must not be too concerned so he would let you have control.... But you can't come to her rescue every time she gets into trouble..."

Vincenzo whispered " I am not trying to rescue her.... This verdict is too unfair. It must be adjusted..."

Emanuelle laughed darkly " I agree. Son. This is not fair. Your girl deserves the firing squad as my son pointed out. She dies if she assaults those she can't take on. This is not Italy... Your girl's family's influence is not as great as the Rosarios overe here in America... She must understand the hierarchy.... Next time she won't get away if she pulls any stunts outside school.... If your father doesn't kill her next time because of your mother then someone like me will do it... Then you will have to accept it or come after me. Then a mob war would break out... Is it worth starting a war over her?"

Vincenzo didn't like this to be used against him in this manner in an argument. Emanuelle was right. But he hated to admit it. So he didn't answer the question. He looked up and stared into Emanuelle's eyes " I won't let it go that far ... She won't touch my sister again. I will make sure of it."

Emanuelle spoke sarcastically " Of course. That's why you called your uncle who is an expert in the field to help you... You call a lawyer for her to help lessen her sanction, not add to it... That tells me that the prospect of your girl blowing the candles on her cake on her eighteenth birthday party is highly unlikely. You will fail to protect her if you don't let people teach her lessons..."

Vincenzo whispered " I won't fail..."

Emanuelle spoke " You teenagers are way too dramatic and emotional. You keep missing the point... Failure comes when your girl dies young.... You need to be making sure that this girl does not take on people she shouldn't. My son has told me enough about your girl's antiques and I have seen how she treats others. You ignore it... That's understandable. You now have a quest to make sure it doesn't happen again and you didnt think she would dare raise her hand on your sister but she has... You did succeed in making sure she is lead to a situation that she learns the hard way.. So you have achieved some success.. Some students dont respond to theory. They only respond to practice... If you want your girl to live, you must let her learn... I have been a teenager before... I know how it works. But my girl never hurt my family. I never had to teach my girl any lessons because she didn't take on anyone she couldn't beat..." He then through to himself " Including your father."

Emanuelle was surely not a man to be messed with. He took no nonsense. He was a man of action and not threats. His actions made Francesco look moderate sometimes even though Francesco Rosario made the toughest of men shake in their boots by just glancing at them. But even Sancia knew her boundries despite the fact that Emanuelle protected her. Emanuelle didnt recall  any problems with Sanica. She had hiccups along the way... She was a business woman so she was a risk taker in nature... She was outspoken and took poeple on but she didnt go too far. She always knew when to stop.... Also, she respected Emanuelle's family and friends.... Sancia may have been a difficult woman to live with. He loved her unconditionally but Emanuelle never recalled any instances that she hurt his family. Even as teenagers she was law abiding. She was offensive but even she had boundaries.

Emanuelle handed the paper to Vincenzo and spoke "I hope you are right... And you wont fail..."

Vincenzo put it in his pocket " Thank you...I won't..." He then walked away as he gave Emanuelle his hardest stare.

Emanuelle couldnt believe how much Vincenzo reminded him of Paulo Rosario. He was hoping this child grew out of having a set vision that didnt change... That was the problem... This kid was going on a path of his grandfather... Vincnezo seemed to have his own definition of what was best for his loved ones... He predicted Vincenzo to have many enemies if he didnt learn... But Francesco had left a strong legacy already. It was impssoble to go wrong with what was left for Vincenzo to lead... The only way was forward for the Rosarios... But with Vincenzo's leadership, there was going to be bloodbaths that could be avoided if someone like Viggo interfered... That kid was really smart... His intelligence was like his uncle Costanzo but he wasn't as ambitious as Vincenzo. He knew that kid, Viggo could deliver results if he was forced to be put in positions to make decisions. O'Neil was the most observant and a good judge of character. What he was wary of, was that Vincenzo's mind was much darker than any teenager he knew... He was glad Vincenzo did not have eyes for his daughter for now... What was he going to do with him?

As Vincenzo walked to the exit and tocuhed the door knob he turned "See you later uncle..."

Emanuelle chuckled "Oh, you will see him later... But you will also see alot of me soon... On that trip after this weekend, I would be accompanying your father... I look forward to that trip."

Vincenzo nodded "Likewise sir... Likewise.." He then left without another word. It was best not to push it with the double edged sword that O'Neil was.

Vincenzo closed the door and walked towards the exit. But then as he left he saw Letizia through the window... She was alone... Sancia had popped out by the look of it. She was siting on a desk writing lines."

Vincenzo decided to do what his uncle did as he saw where his uncle had broken in. There was a broken window. He slipped inside slowly and silently. He walked towards her and stood behind her. She didn't notice and was busy writing.

Vincenzo stood behind her chair and startled her " Hey Beautiful."

Letizia lost her breath as she stiffened. She felt him behind her. She was about to get up but Vincenzo walked around. the chair snd before Letizia could react he bent forward and pinned her arms to the arm rests of the chair with his arms. He looked into her eyes and his lips were inches apart from hers as he spoke. " You touched my sister with your hands... You will need to scrub them clean in the coming weeks Letizia or you will see my unforgiving side..

Letizia was shocked. Her heart started beating fast. She couldn't speak. He was dead serious and he looked deadly.

Vincenzo continued " You are lucky Vienna was unharmed this time and I believe you are sorry because when you cried I could see your remorse about your actions ... So all you get this time is some light school sanctions.... But... If you hurt my family for real, I would make you very sorry... I would never hurt you ... But I would hurt those you love... Your parents mean nothing to me... If you resist the rules, if you break the rules, I will personally shoot them dead right in front of you... I am capable of doing it... Don't try me... I swear that I would make the death of your parents the most painful if you ever harm my family in any way or ever dream of it.... I am a man of my word...."

Letizia couldn't move and tears ran down her cheeks, not knowing what to say or do. She sobbed.

Vincenzo sighed and his expression hardened " You are my number one girl but my blood is sacred to me... You hurt my blood, it's only fair that I hurt yours... You just have to follow the rules... You will be studying in isolation until I come back and you have detentions with my aunt Georgina... I spoke to Tristan and managed to convince him to reduce the sanctions and let me adjust the harsh verdict... My sister defended you and even threatened to break up with Tristan for you. Your actions have had a lot of consequences... The least you can do is making the most of this opportunity to stay away from people and learn the rules. I think you should keep away for your own safety. So Tristan was doing you a favour by putting the initial isolation verdict. Tristan is my ally. He is like a brother to me... You crossed him, your crossed my sister who is his girl... You came between them. Think about consequences of your actions in the time you have. I don't know when is the next time that I will see you... when I come back from my trip might be the next time I see you.. I don't know if my father would like me to see you at the end of exam party... I don't think you can go.... When I come back from my trip, I expect you to know the rules and can recite the rules for me... The life of your parents depends on that

Vincenzo then didn't wait for her response and walked away.

Letizia wiped her tears and watched him leave as she stood up " I am sorry.. wait..."

Vincenzo closed his eyes as he was about to slip out of the room. He stopped. He opened his eyes and took a deep breath. He turned around " ..... You think this is easy for me? You think it is easy for me to see you in trouble? Do you how it breaks my heart to think about what you have done and how much it hurts to see you cry? Do you know what you have done? I don't need you to cry. I need you to think... My father asked me to see girls from now on. He wants me to make friends with other girls so I can forget you... Do you think I would enjoy doing that? My father would monitor that... He can make it last for as long as he wants... So you are not the only one who is punished... I am too..."

Letizia' tears betrayed her as she saw how cold he sounded. He was mad at her. He was disappointed in her. That was the worst punishment of all to see him look at her that way. She was willing to do anything to make everything ok again. She whispered " Please ... don't be mad at me... I am sorry... I didn't mean to hurt anyone..."

Vincenzo spoke " I am not mad at you... I am mad at what you have done. You need to atone for what you have done... Scrub your hands clean... Hurt who you wish but I don't want my family to be hurt by you again... When I come back I will teach you how to hurt. I will mentor you... I encourage you to hurt anyone you want but my family is off limits...."

Without meaning to, instinctively Vincenzo walked towards Letizia as he spoke. He just wanted to comfort her. He then heard sounds from outside. It was Sancia's voice... He spoke urgently " I have to go. She would add to your lines if I stay. She likes finding excuses to make your punishments harsher. Don't give her an excuse. I am going to give your new revised verdict for her secretary to type up. She won't be happy this afternoon. Don't push her." He then quickly slipped out of the room as the sounds got closer. He could hear Sancia arguing with the secretary clearly now about something she had done.

Vincenzo then before he left, blew a kiss at her from far making Letizia's heart jump . There was hope he could forgive her... Letizia was willing to do anything for Vincenzo. She vowed to herself to try to change until Vincenzo forgave her and things went back to normal.
