38. Confess

Angelia stood up "I should get back."

Vienna looked up as she was seated on the swing seat "Don't."

Angelia said "Your man is coming this way. I don't want to be in his way."

Vienna turned around and saw Tristan walking towards them "But he was just walking away. Why is he coming back?"

Angelia said "Exactly. I should go."

Vienna stood up and followed Angelia "Look. He won't hurt you. I know he won't."

Angelia turned to look at her "He won't... unless he sees a reason for it. Right now I can see the look in his eyes that he only has for you. He is coming for you and not me. So I would like to make myself scarce."

Vienna sighed "She was used to it by now. Like the king that he was the crowd parted when he walked. She said "Fine. I see you later." She then turned and walked back to the swing. She looked into his eyes as he was approaching her. She thought of making him walk some more so she walked away knowing full well he didn't like it. Back in the day when she lived near him he cherished every minute with her. Now he had been away from her for a while so she could only imagine him getting annoyed. But she didn't mind. He deserved to be annoyed after threatening her brother. She didn't like that. She also didn't like how he wanted to hurt Angelia. She understood why. But she didn't like it. She stood in front of the water fountain of their gardens watching the water they seemed peaceful. It was contrast to the suspense there was. She took on Tristan this way by walking away. He didn't like that. No one walked away from him. Only she could.

She felt his arms around her waist and his breathe on her cheek. There was no one around. The area was surrounded by trees.

His voice was calm "Confess."

She felt a chill go down her spine as he startled her with that word. Confess. That made her feel like as though she had done something wrong. "I ... don't know what you mean."

Tristan moved. He suddenly was in front of her. He rested his hands on her hips as he looked into her eyes "Nolan."

Vienna was taken back "Nolan? What about him?"

Tristan narrowed his eyes "What did he want? I heard Nolan talked to you. I asked the guards if he had. They said yes."

Vienna gave out a shaky breathe "Oh. Him? Well. He didn't say anything worth mentioning Tristan. I hardly remember what he said. It was about the scholarship I did not want. I think that was the highlight."

Tristan looked into her eyes in silence not saying anything. His eyes were narrowed on her as though he was making a judgement in his mind.

Vienna felt nervous. She didn't like the silence. Her heart started beating faster but something told her to not let Tristan intimidate her. She cleared her throat and held her head up "Tristan. I know you are jealous. I can see it. But you have nothing to worry about. I trust you and you should trust me...,"

Tristan whispered "I trust you. But I don't trust him."

Vienna argued "If you trust me then you trust my judgement. The O'Leary family are your equals. They work with my father. Do you think my father would have allowed him to come here if he didn't trust him to act honourable. He is no threat to me Tristan. He is not Edward Blake. I live by my father's rules. I am allowed to talk to other boys unless they are weaklings or have family in law enforcement. He is neither. I can talk to him and so can he."

Tristan whispered in a hard tone "Did he make you feel uncomfortable?"

Vienna shook her head "He didn't." Vienna was surprised at his questioning. The O'Leary family were the equals of the O'Kanes in many aspects. They were honourable. She voiced her thoughts "Why do you ask? He is no one that I notice as a threat. He was very polite. His family is your equal. He didn't make me uncomfortable."

Tristan said "Because he doesn't dare. That's why. Not at your fathers home... But he might dare in college... He has applied to the same college as you and I."

Vienna raised an eyebrow "But everyone I know is going to the same college. It's a security measure so we live in the same dorms in college and have united security so our family can keep an eye on us."

Tristan shook his head "He was meant to go to a college his family have been attending for generations. He broke tradition. I think it's for you..."

Vienna gasped "Are you implying he likes me? That's outrageous. It would be more believable if you said he likes Reagan O'Reily who is sister of Renton who his sister Nelly is dating. She can't stand her but I will find it easier to believe if you said he liked her... How can he like me if he knows I am only yours." She saw the effect of the last sentence. Tristan leaned close and kissed her gently. He always liked it when he said it.

Tristan pulled away still looking serious. "He knows you are mine. That's why he is cautious. He won't get caught."

Vienna shook her head "Caught? For what? There is nothing to get caught on. All he has done is talk to me. He never gave me impression he likes me. He just offered me a scholarship. He did nothing or said anything that implied he was coming onto me."

Tristan thought to himself "That's why I won't kill him today." He then said "He was hiding his feelings..."

Vienna sighed "Many men night like me and hide their feelings. Please tell me you won't do anything to him."

Tristan said "He hides his intentions and so do I. I won't wait until he strikes but will wait... He will be confronted in my own way in my own time..." He then thought to himself "He is smart. His plan is for you to like him. He wants you to want him."

Vienna said "Come on Tristan. You can't go around eliminating anyone who talks to me. The world is full of men. I will feel embarrassed if you did mention anything to him and told him off..."

Tristan said "So you do care what he thinks of you. Noted by me..."

Vienna said "Wait. Of course I care about what others think. I just want you to let me have freedom of choice of who I talk to. I don't take that from you. You can talk to girls. I don't go around warning people off..." When she came to think of it she didn't notice him talk to girls unless he had a reason to or they talked to him first. It was rare.

Tristan said "You are welcome to do that Vienna. In your case I follow your father's rules. No weaklings or anyone related law enforcement people... But I also follow my own rules. Nolan is in a category of his own... I will deal with him my way..." He then leaned close and kissed her lips. He pulled away and whispered "Do you have any more to .... confess?"

Vienna for some reason felt shaken when he used the word. She just did. She visibly shook that Tristan noticed "Why do you shake Vienna... All I ask you is to ... confess..."

She swallowed. There was a hidden meaning behind that word. She had a feeling in future when he said that word there was trouble. He put him on the spot with that word.

Tristan repeated "Its easier if you tell me Vienna rather than me finding out. Always remember that. If there is anything you want to tell me, do it. You could have mentioned Nolan."

Vienna said "He is not important."

Tristan said "He is to me. Did you think I wouldn't want to know when he talked to you?"

Vienna guiltily looked away. She knew Tristan didn't like that and wanted to know it. Nolan was being too friendly when she didn't know him. She wasn't her classmate or business partner. He had been coming onto her. But she didn't care. She was used to boys liking to look at her and flirt with her unknowingly. Then they got beaten up and warned of course. In a way there was something about Nolan that made her curious. He was smart. She liked hanging out with smart people. She had a feeling she was going to see him in college. Surely Tristan was going to clash with him. It didn't help that she didn't mind Nolan. She found him interesting.

When Tristan let go and took a step away he asked "What is on your mind?"

Vienna wanted to say Nolan. But she didn't dare. She said "Our conversation. Just know I won't cheat on you Tristan."

Tristan said "I trust you. I don't trust him. But tell me this. Do you have feelings for him?"

Vienna thought about the answer. She was curious to know more about him in some ways. She didn't know why. She said "No. I don't have feelings. But I don't hate him."

Tristan nodded "So you will talk to him again. Not everyone gets your attention Vienna." He then said "I need to get back. I will see you later Vienna." He then walked away as he said the words "Always confess when I ask you to. Don't make me get the confessions out." He Let Vienna think over his words as he walked away.

Tristan made his way towards where there were archery targets. He could see Nolan from far as he was getting his bow and arrow ready in the middle of the woods at the back of the Rosario mansion while Vincenzo was watching. A game of archery was just an excuse for them to talk before the business meeting Nolan was going to have with viggo.

Vincenzo turned to Tristan who was walking towards them slowly but was not in earshot. He waved at him. "At last he is making it back. My sister can have some peace now..."

Nolan got into position pointing the arrow towards the target carefully. From the corner of his eyes he looked Vincenzo. "Can I ask you an honest question?" He then let go and watched the arrow with satisfaction slicing through the target.

Vincenzo walked to him and stood next to him while he looked at the target "You are going to ask an inappropriate question I take it. Why else would you ask for permission before asking me?Ask away."

Nolan turned to Vincenzo and offered the bow to him "It's not an inappropriate question. It's a legitimate question... I have been wondering ... I have been meaning to ask you this... How do you endure Tristan dating your sister while you date his?"

Vincenzo expected an invasive question and wasn't disappointed. His family pushed it because they could afford to do so... They feared no family... Vincenzo asked him "And you think your personal question is appropriate?"

Nolan said "It's as appropriate as I get."

Vincenzo asked "How did you feel about your sister, Nelly dating Reagan O'Reily's brother Renton while you stayed single? Anyone in mind? You answer my question and I answer yours."

Nolan said "I felt not so good. I don't like Renton O'Reily. He is not my favourite person in the world right now. I am glad you got my sister sent to Italy for her exchange program. I owe you one for that Vincenzo."

Nolan sounded genuine. Vincenzo ignored his reply and took the bow from him and picked up an arrow "You Irish fascinate me. You do have boundaries but again you don't. One of these days you can get yourself in a lot of trouble unless you see the warning signs."

Nolan demanded "Clarify what you mean."

Vincenzo said "What I mean is... Stop looking at my sister in the way that you do." He then let go of the bow and the arrow hit right next to the arrow he had hit. "I am watching you always."

Nolan glanced at the target where the two arrows were embedded and then said with a passive tone as he was still looking at the target "Impressive."

Vincenzo dropped the bow on the ground and walked to him standing right next to him shoulder to shoulder as he was looking at the target "You think I don't notice your eyes on her. I see it in your eyes how much you want her... You won't live very long unless you learn to love another. If you touch my sister I will kill you."

Nolan turned to Vincenzo "Don't you know who I am Vincenzo? I am an O'Leary."

Vincenzo said "I will kill you. I don't care you are Tristan's equal in the Irish world. You are called a home wrecker in my world."

Nolan chuckled as he took a step towards the bow that was on the ground as he glanced at Vincenzo "It's not Home wrecking if she is impressed by me. I will make her like me. And no. I will never touch your sister Vincenzo unless she asks me first... Your father has rules. Your equals are allowed to associate with her..."

Vincenzo said "What do you think are Tristan's rules? Control your eyes, get yourself an Irish girl maybe and keep away... or you might end up in an early grave or much worse."

Nolan was amused "Worse? What's worse than an early grave?"

Vincenzo whispered darkly "My wrath and his." He then looked away towards Tristan.

Nolan noticed Vincenzo looking past him. He turned around and saw Tristan approaching. He reached to his neck and started loosening up his tie. He strangely suddenly found it harder to breathe feeling like choking as the truth hit him hard.
