Revelation
Aragorn and his family accompanied me to the Gray Havens. When we arrived I saw a few other Elves waiting to board the boat as well — including my father. I hugged him and we boarded the boat. I saw Tinaraviel wrap her arms around Aragorn and start crying. I felt my heart grow heavy at the sight. As the boat began to leave the dock I wondered, Am I doing the right thing?
~(Third Person P.O.V)
Aragorn and his wife and daughter made their way back to Minas Tirith. All of their hearts were heavy. They got home and Aragorn had to prepare to leave again to go to Rohan to help protect them from Orcs. Arwen and Tinaraviel sat in their family commons room in the palace and just sat together. Arwen held Tinaraviel in her arms and comforted the younger elleth. Arwen felt bad. The girl in her arms was her husband's, but she wasn't Arwen's. Tinaraviel was Legolas' daughter, and she had a right to know that. But Arwen wouldn't tell until Aragorn was back and they could all discuss it as a family.
When Aragorn returned, it was late. Most of the city was already asleep and Arwen didn't want to bother him with something that they could talk about later. But the next morning, breakfast was a little unsettling. Aragorn, Arwen, and Tinaraviel were sitting at the table eating when Aragorn spoke.
"Tinaraviel?"
"Yes, Adar?" Tinaraviel answered, looking up innocently.
"I need to tell you something."
Arwen nearly choked.
"Did you know that male Elves can reproduce just like females?"
Arwen went into a coughing fit after her water went down the wrong way. Tinaraviel was at her side in an instant, hitting her back. Arwen finally signaled that she was okay, and Tinaraviel answered her father.
"Yes, Adar. Elviondel told me in one of my lessons. He said it would be beneficial to me in the future."
"Good. Then I'd like to explain to you how you were born."
Aragorn told here about everything: the bet, the party, the misunderstanding, and the decision to give her to Arwen as a daughter. Tinaraviel's face was blank; her eyes wide. She suddenly jumped up from the table and ran to the stables, Aragorn and Arwen hot on her heels. They caught up to her and stopped her just as she was about to mount her horse.
"No, Tinaraviel!" Aragorn said. "You cannot go."
"But he's my Ada. I want to go to him!" Tinaraviel said, starting to cry.
Eldarion ran into the stable holding his sword, having just come from practice, and approached his family saying, "What is going on?"
"Tinaraviel is trying to leave," Arwen answered, calmly as she could.
Eldarion dropped his sword and grabbed his sister up in his arms and held her tightly.
"They told you, didn't they?" he whispered into her ear. She nodded. "Tinaraviel, I know you want to go to Legolas. I know. I do. But you still have a purpose here in Arda. You need to stay a while longer. Please. I love you; I don't want you to leave yet."
Tinaraviel wrapped her arms around her older brother, "Okay. I won't leave."
Tinaraviel pulled out of Eldarion's arms and hugged Arwen and then her father.
"I'm sorry we didn't ever tell you, Tinaraviel," Aragorn said. "Legolas didn't want you to know."
"But why?"
Aragorn sighed, "He thought you should have a chance at normalcy. He didn't want you to be criticized and hated because you were born of two males."
"But I wouldn't have cared!"
"I know."
They all walked back into the palace and Tinaraviel went to her rooms. She stayed in Arda for the next 100 years. Every day she waited for a sign that it was her time to leave Middle Earth. One day it happened. She and her brother, who —since they were half Elven — had outlived their parents, were visiting the ocean and they both heard the sea-calling. They'd rushed home fast to prepare to leave. Eldarion's son was already the new King of Gondor and they could leave. As they reached the Gray Havens, Tinaraviel had one thought on her mind:
I'm coming to see you, Ada.
A/N I sent a notice to my followers, but just so everyone knows, from this point on I will post a new chapter every week. Regardless of votes or comments. Although I would love feedback on how much the chapter sucked. Love you guys!!
