A Misty Summer: A Pokeshipping Story

It was a bright, summer day in Cerulean City.

A familiar seventeen year-old redhead, in her water themed room, was sitting in front of her mirror, struggling to apply mascara.

"Ugh! Why does this stupid thing keep spreading! I wonder how people apply this everyday... I wish Daisy would help me. She literally does this every day!" Exclaimed the redhead, while wiping off the stained area with a tissue.

It was a very special day for her. She had a date with her crush, Ash Ketchum! Well, Ash didn't ask her for the date, nor did Misty, but their friends forced them to go on a date. Ash had to go this date as a punishment because he couldn't complete a stupid dare given to him.

Everyone gathered at Ash's residence for a get together. They were all playing truth or dare after most of the guests left. The only people present were Brock, Misty, May, her brother, Max, Dawn, Ash and his mom.

Everyone in the room except Ash and Misty knew that the two loved each other a lot, but were scared to admit, trying not to ruin the strong friendship that they had built over the years.

"How do we get them to tell each other?" May asked.

"We can send them out on a date together" Dawn suggested.

"But it doesn't guarantee that they'll confess?" Brock pointed out.

"We'll have to force one of them to confess..." May said with an evil glint in her eyes "With a dare or a punishment!"

They all planned to send them both on a date. They dared Ash to eat 5 chilies without drinking water in between the task or after it for at least one hour.

"Hey! That's not fair!" Ash argued.

"A dare's a dare. You have to do it or prepare for the punishment that will follow." Dawn said in rather scary voice. Ash gave in and accepted it.

But he drank water right after the first chili.

"Hot! Hot! Too spicy! Water! Please!" Ash practically begged.

After relieving himself of the spiciness, May whispered his punishment in his ear.

"H-How can I do that?" Ash practically screamed.

"You have to do it! Misty you're going on a date with Ash!" May commanded leaving both of them dumbstruck.

It wasn't really a punishment for him, was it?

Well, now back in Cerulean city, Misty had finally applied the mascara and got ready for her date, with some help from her sister. She was dressed in a yellow tee with a full sleeved denim jacket over it and wore a yellow floral skirt that ended just above her knees. She clipped her locks on the side of her head and let her remaining hair hang around her shoulders.

"You like look adorable, baby sis! Ash is literally going to fall in love with you like, all over again!" The blonde girl did some finishing touches while commenting on Misty's look. Misty just smiled brightly, too excited about her 'date' with Ash.

As soon as Daisy was done, Misty took her purse and gave the blonde a hug. "Thanks Daisy! You're the best!"

"Have fun Misty!"

- Ash's P.O.V. -

I was late, extremely late. I should've reached the restaurant an hour ago. I never thought that getting ready would take so long.

I ran toward the restaurant and I was super glad that it was close to my home.

I reached the spot and went towards where Misty was sitting. I hope I don't experience her mallet for being late.

"Finally, you arrived" Misty got up from her seat, revealing the dress that had been hiding under the table cloth.

'She looks gorgeous! I never would have thought that she would dress up for a forced date.' I thought to myself. I was stunned.

"Ash! Ash!" I quickly came out of my trance.

"What's wrong, Ash? Why are you staring at me like that? Do I look bad?" Her hands quickly went to her dress, trying to adjust it.

"No! N-No, Misty, you look really beautiful. It's just that I have never seen you get dressed up like that. I am so sorry for making you wait for so long." I apologized immediately, gestured towards her chair and held out the chair for her. She smiled and sat down. Then I sat on the opposite chair.

"Thanks Ash! And don't worry about being late, I was late myself and by the way, you look really good, too!" She smiled and blushed, probably at my remark. Her smile was as usual, really beautiful.

"Thanks!"

The waiter arrived and wrote down our orders, then left.

"So, Ash, how is your life going on? We haven't been able to catch up due to your journeys lately."

"Oh, it's great! And I've made many new friends during my journey. What's life like being a gym leader now?"

"That's great Ash! I hope I get to meet your friends someday. Being a gym leader is hard, but I get to meet many new people who have the same dreams as yours. It always reminds me of you."

"Yeah... I still have that handkerchief you gave me, by the way." I took out the worn-out handkerchief from my pocket.

Misty had a shocked expression, "You still have that?"

"Obviously, this reminds me of you and that lure, too!"

We talked some more and our order finally arrived.

"Food!" I quickly took the burger in front of me and started munching on it.

"Typical Ash." Misty stated, and chuckled. Then, she took a bite from her own burger.

"Come on Misty, the food they make here is just awesome! I can't resist it."

"You say that all the time, Ashy-boy." She said with a raised eyebrow.

"Come on Mist, don't be like Gary now. You know I hate that name." I argued, rather childishly. I could see a hint of pink on her cheeks. I didn't understand why. Was she embarrassed or something? Oh yeah, her nick name probably.

I checked my watch, noticing that it was almost time to go.

I looked up at Misty again. She kept smiling gently, a smile that made me fall in love with her all over again.

When we were done with our food, we decided to take a stroll around the park. I hope she likes the surprise I had in store for her.

"Hey Ash...?"

"Yes, Misty?"

"Don't you think there is something wrong with the other? I mean, they could have given you anything as a punishment, but they chose this..." Her voice trailed off.

"I don't know. Maybe they were just messing around. Why? Don't you like this?" I checked my watch. Did they even remember our agreement?

"N-No! I loved it. It just seems strange to me... Ash, what's wrong? Are you late for something?" She said as she noticed me glancing down at my watch.

"What? Uh... Um... Nope. N-Not at all." I stuttered. Suddenly my phone rang. It was a call from May.

"Hey Ash! Everything's ready. It's time for the main part of your punishment. How's it going with Misty?" May inquired from the other line.

"It's going great! Are you sure everything's set up?" I whispered, making sure Misty couldn't hear us.

"Yep! Come soon!"

"Sure thing. We'll be there soon." I ended the call.

I turned to Misty and smiled.

"It was May. The others have planned a get together with some of our close friends. It's in a resort that May's uncle owns. They've invited us, too. Would you like to go?"

"Yes, I'd love to!" I agreed, although deep down, I didn't really want to go. I wanted this date to just be about us. I was going to finally confess my feelings for him today. I really don't want to lose this chance. Maybe after the get together, I'll tell him.
