Nathaniel figured the man did well since he and his wife were up in years. He saw the fiery redhead gal take a go at it. His jaw dropped as the rock hit the first tin can knocked it over, bounced off six more cans before it knocked them over as well. He was impressed as the young woman had knocked over the most tin cans so far.

      The girl was given a blue ribbon for a job well done when it came time for the prize for the game to be given out.

       Next came the eating contest.  The contestants sat at the tables ready for the challenge.

    Nathaniel had entered it and saw the young lady from before sat across from him. His jaw dropped in surprise. He could not believe a woman would dare to enter such a thing.  He saw her glare at him with an angry enough look to bring chills down his spine. 

    He waited for the signal then begin at the same time as the other contestants.  Halfway through the contest, the girl began to look a bit pale and even drank some water.  He just went on ahead as if this was normal for him.

    The timer went off and the newcomer to town had won! He won a basket full of apple butter, a peach cobbler, an apple pie, and some sweet pickles.  He sat down and smiled as the girl glared at him in annoyance.  He could tell she was sore at him for winning the contest.
