previously at the end of Chapter 1,    Marinette is relaxin on the beach.

    Now in the current Chapter, Marinette  continues to relax.  She pulls out a beach towel and sits on it as she reads a book.  She just barely gets past the first page.  She hears a scream!  It comes from the direction of the ocean.🌊  

      Marinette takes off her sandals, sunglasses and hat. She runs towards the sound. She sees a small boy about to drown. She jumps into the water!  She swims fast. She reaches him just as another big wave approaches. She has a strong grip on him.  She smiles as she heads back to shore with him. 

     The boys mother whose eyes are full of tears looks at her in surprise.

  "Miss, you are a hero!"  His mother exclaims.

   "Uh, it is nothing, really. Just doing my job, madame!"  Marinette says.

    "Oh, and so modest too!"  She says.

    "Whatever!  I am just glad I got to him in time."

      Luka who saw the entire thing, sits there in awe!  He thinks, Whoa!  She is so cool!  Why the way she came to the aid of that kid, no wonder she is a life guard!  

     Marinette walks back to her beach towel a wet mess. Her hair is all a drippy mess, her swim suit soaked and she still grins.  She picks up the towel and dries off.  She thinks, hmm, well today's day on the job was anything, but dull!

     "Wow, Marinette!  You are a natural!"  Luka says.

    "You saw that huh?"  Marinette says.

   "Yeah, I sure did!  I must say that was awesome how you came to the rescue of the boy and..." Luka says.

    "Goodness, you think by the way his mother and you carry on I  did something out of the ordinary! "  Marinette responds.

     "Yeah, well it is not everyday a beautiful dame like you rescues someone in distress!"  Luka says with a silly grin on his face and a gleam in his eyes.

    It was at that exact moment, Adrien finishes the competition. He comes in second place!  He figures not bad for such a tough course.  He shrugs his shoulders as he heads to the shore. He sees Luka as he talks with Marinette.  He feels like his stomach might burst and he groans as he realizes that he is indeed jealous of the guy.  He thinks, wait!  How can I like her?  I barely know her. Besides, I have a girlfriend he has tries to reason with himself.

    Adrien walks over to Luka and Marinette.

 "Hi, guys!" Adrien says and flashes Marinette a grin.

  "Hi!"

   "Ugh, you again!"  Luka says.

   "What's up?" Adrien asks.

   "Nothing much!" Marinette says.

    "Nothing!  Are you kidding me, she single handly rescued some kid!"  Luka boasts.

    " Wow, Mari that is great!"  Adrien says.

    "Mari?"  Marinette gives him a funny look.

   Adrien just giggles. 

 "Uh, it is my nickname for you, that's all!  I mean if you don't mind."  Adrien says.

   "Oh, in that case it's fine."  Marinette says.

     " You know you look kinda cute wet!  Like a wet seal!" Adrien says.

     "Me cute?  You are joking!  Ha, ha!"  Marinette laughs.

    "Oh no!  I said that out loud?"  Adrien blushes from embarrasment.

    "You sure did, and I might add quit hitting on my girl!"  Luka says.

    "I was not aware you two were together."  Adrien says and looks down at the sand.

    "We are not!"  Marinette says.

    "Oh, in that case,see ya around Mari!"  Adrien says.

     "Yeah, see ya!"  Marinette says.

           Marinette  still does not realize Adrien is the famous surfer boy!

     Luka sees the interaction between them and sulks. He thinks, ugh!  Why can't the blonde boy leave Marinette alone?  She belongs with me!  I will show him who is boss!
