Chapter 9 Take Every Precaution
Aurore's POV:
She heard her father give the orders to take every precaution. She knew this meant he was trying to get rid of every needle, every sharp pair of scissors, or otherwise sharp pieces of metal that stood out. She thought the entire thing was ridiculous. Why was he so worried? It was not like she would mess with such things on purpose. She was not that stupid.
Who did he take her for? She shook her head. He was being silly. She was not some fragile fawn that needed protection. She was a princess, but she could take care of herself.
She went outside to breathe in some fresh. Some days called for such things. She was caught off guard when someone grabbed her. Whoever it was put a cloth over her eyes and a gag in her mouth. Nor did she see when the same someone cut open a thorn in one of the roses and forced the sharp item into the center of her hand. Her hand started to bleed and she felt the pain.
Third Party's POV:
The attacker laughed. Soon, the princess would die. If this did not work there was always another way. She was sure of it. She already had the king fooled into thinking she was his long-lost daughter.
"Die, you worthless girl, and I shall the throne for myself," The attacker spoke. Aurore struggles to break free from their grasp. This person was stronger than her. She was pulled into a building. There she was tied to a wall and spikes came toward her.
One of the spikes punctured a hole in her dress, the rest almost grazed her but missed. Aurore pulled the thorn out of her hand and it withered. The wound healed itself. She could not recall how she had gotten the gift. She was fortunate though. She gnawed at the gag and it broke free. Then, she managed to snap the ropes that bound her in two. She removed the cloth.
She stood over the attacker holding a dagger in her hand. "This ends now," Aurore said. She made the bad person stand against the wall and the other woman in disguise was impaled to death on impact.
"Ew, gross, I hate it when such things happen, but I suppose nothing can fix that," Aurore said and she left the building.
She was in the woods now. Strange, she could have sworn they were in a different direction. She found herself in a bear trap but broke it in half. Then, she ran. She Ran and ran as fast as her legs would allow her to.
Aurore's POV:
She arrived back home. Her father and Helen were happy to see her. She smiled. She decides to spare them any of the gory details about her deceased attacker. She saw no sense in worrying them any further.
She went to her room. She gasped when she saw it. There was an odd-shaped sword unlike any other she had ever seen sticking out of the wall. She had never seen it before, where had it come from, and why was it in her room? She did not see the fairy arrive to wave something over her or the fairy's sudden absence after the deed was done. She looked up to see blood oozing off the end of the sword.
"W-what? N-no!" She screamed. She gasped when she realized her side was bleeding. She tried to heal the wound but failed. She collapsed. Unconscious on the floor. While she was passed out the sword vanished, her side wound grew smaller, and the blood she had lost was restored to her.
King Fredrick's POV:
Her father came running into the room to see what the commotion was about and found her lying on the floor. He could tell despite her closed eyes that she was alive. He was furious, despite his efforts to protect her he had failed. Why had he thought a needle would be the cause of her issues? There was not even one in the room when he arrived. He had no idea that a sword had done it. Let alone a magical one that appeared and disappeared.
He also did not know that his daughter hadn't touched it willingly and that the object had seemed to come to life and attacked her. He picked her up and decided she must be sent to the other castle. It was her only chance. He paid a driver to get her there. He sobbed as he waited to hear word that she had gotten there. Helen held him close. She did not see a word. She knew he needed her.
