Chapter 5 Andrew at Your Service

      Andrew's POV:

Andrew notices while the others gather in the family room after the meal that Alice stays to wash the dishes. He takes note of the fact that Katharine slips back into the kitchen. He watches in amazement as she dries off the dishes and puts them back inside the cabinet.

He thinks she is the one I want to marry someday. He stares at Katharine and finds a blush form on his cheeks. He sneaks out the back door. He makes sure to close it slowly behind him.

     Alice's POV:

"Hmm, that is odd," Alice remarks.

"What is it, Alice?" Katharine inquires.

"It is just I could have sworn I shut the door tight earlier today, yet the back door is unlocked," Alice blurts out.

She wonders how the door got to be in this manner. She sure hopes the king does not find out or she could lose her job.

       Katharine's  POV:

Katharine goes over to the door and locks it. She smiles as she goes back to drying dishes.

"It is all good now, no one needs to know," Katharine says.

Alice nods her head grateful for the help. She smiles.

Katharine is about to put the last plate away, when she slips on some water someone spilled and lands with a thud on the floor. She drops the plate and it shatters into pieces.

"Oh, no!" Katharine gasps when she sees the mess and groans in pain.

         Alice's POV:

Alice takes care of the mess while Katharine goes to the bathroom.

She feels sorry for the new cook getting hurt. She sure hopes the girl can get herself mended up in no time.  She does hope she knows where the medical kit is hidden away.

       Andrew's POV:

Andrew looks up from the backyard swing and sees Katharine hold her arm. He can tell she is in pain by the face she gives. He feels he is to blame as it was his water cup that spilled over. He wishes he would have cleaned it up sooner.

He leaves the backyard, enters the house through the small side door few know about other than himself, Robert, and Linda.  He arrives right outside the bathroom door. He pushes it open and sees Katharine about to faint.

He catches her in his arms. He hears her moan something hard to understand.

"Hold in there, Katharine, I am here," Andrew says. His face goes pale.

Andrew pulls out the medical kit and cleans her wound.  He adds some peroxide to it, then bandages it up slowly, and carefully.  He places the kit back inside its area, then places a hand to her forehead.

He can tell her head is hot. He thinks no.

       Andrew's POV:

Andrew places a cold washcloth over her forehead. He leans in and mutters, "Katharine, please be okay. I swear if I lose you, I will go mad."

He pulls out his phone while he holds her gently. He calls for help, "Yes, please do hurry!"

Andrew waits for help to arrive. He hears the royal helpers arrive and sees them enter the bathroom.

"She cut her arm on a broken plate shard. I took care of the wound, but she collapsed," Andrew explains.

"Tell me she is alright," Andrew tries hard to hold back tears and feels hurt.

        Royal Medical Professionals POV:

"She appears to be feverish, it is possible from shock, but just to be safe someone must stand by to take care of her,"  The royal medical professionals explain.

"What happened?" Princess Linda wants to know. She arrives at the same bathroom since the other one was occupied to find her friend on the ground with Andrew and the medical people nearby.

"Miss, your friend is fine, she was accidentally hurt by a broken dish but shall recover shortly. We suggest someone take care of her until the fever drops," The doctor tells her.

"Oh, my goodness," Princess Linda screams.

        Linda's POV:

The princess leaves the room to speak to her folks at once.

"Katharine is injured, and has a fever, but..." She starts to say.

"What, are you sure?" The king and queen ask at once.

"Yes, and Andrew is with her now," Princess Linda points out.

"Ah, yes, Andrew she is good hands then," King Fredrick states.

"My husband is right, Andrew is fond of her," Queen Natasha agrees.

"I know he loves her," Linda states.

    Katharine's POV:

Katharine was taken to her room by Andrew with help from the medical staff. She now remains unconscious on her bed.

        Andrew's POV:

Andrew refuses to leave her side. His excuse is she must not wake up alone. He is glad when no one dares to question him about this.

He sighs, takes her hand, and mutters,  "K-Katharine, I am here, it is Andrew."

        Narrator's POV:

One week later, Alice had to cook for the family since Katharine's fever just won't seem to break. The doctors fear the worst but have not told a soul.

Now, it seems they need a miracle.

        Andrew's POV:

Andrew hears her moan in her sleep, then sees her eyes widen.  "Katharine?" He states happily.

        "Who is it?"  Katharine asks.

"Andrew is at your service, my dear lady," He saws with a bow.

        Katharine's POV:

Katharine laughs.  She thinks goodness he is a strange boy.

She can see how the prince and he get along though as he is rather kind.  Sure he is a flirt, but at least he is generous and quite handsome.

    She feels her face redden.

"Andrew, I wish to take a shower, so please shoo!" She tells him.

   Andrew's POV:

"Fine, if you insist," He teases her.

"Andrew, get out!" She yells at him.

    "Sure, fair maiden," Andrew responds.

Andrew leaves the room and goes to read a book.  As he reads he thinks, yes, I made her laugh.

         Katharine's POV:

Katharine showers dry off, gets dressed, and smirks. Goodness, she did not know Andrew could be so agreeable.  She vaguely thought she heard him speak to her in her subconsciousness.

It is silly though. There is no way he could love her.

She is just a cook and he is practically royalty being such close friends to the prince.

Author's note: Katharine (Marinette Dupain-Cheng) does not feel like she fits into Andrew's life. She was hired while he is like a brother to the prince.
