Chapter 15 She Leaves For a Bit
One week later, Marinette gets ready for the day. She decides it best if she leaves town for a bit. She might as well to make it easier on him. She figures maybe this way it will not hurt him so much. She has something important to do while she is out of town anyway. It is something she should have done years ago.
Marinette sees Alya and smiles. "Here, give this to Adrien for me," She says, then without another word heads to the station.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette climbs aboard a train that takes her to the place she seeks to go. She is glad to get out of Paris, France for a bit. It is not like France holds anything for her anyway. Not anymore anyway, and in time she hopes people like Adrien will learn to forget her.
Alya's POV:
Marinette hands something to me and tells me to give it to Adrien. She thinks what was that all about anyway? She shrugs her shoulders as she goes to find him.
Alya sees him on the bicycle trail. She did not know he owns a bike. Why she should be surprised since his rich is beyond her. She approaches him slowly unsure how to proceed now.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien rides his bike to get some fresh air and exercise. He thinks it strange he has not seen her all day. Not that it matters anyway since she makes it clear how she feels or rather does not feel already. He sighs as he turns around the next corner.
He almost does not notice when Alya walks over to him. He stops to see what she wishes to tell him. Perhaps, it is well-meaning advice to leave Marinette alone. He does not plan to romance her anyway.
"Adrien, Marinette told me to give this to you," Alya says. She hands him a box.
"What is in it?" Adrien asks.
"I have no clue," Alya replies. She walks off.
Adrien slowly opens the box after Alya left. He sobs when he sees what is inside it. He can not seem to stop now. He does not know if he ever can. He thinks she can't expect that from me, right?
The box contains two things, the first is a small pocket watch.
The second is a letter which reads as follows:
Dear Adrien,
I know you believe you love me.
I also know that you try hard to stay your ground. It makes sense after the way I treated you.
I want you to know that the watch was my father's, but I am sure he would want you to have it.
As for myself well I intend to leave Paris, France for a while and I can not say when I will return. I might find myself happy to stay gone.
I know you feel responsible for all that has happened, but believe me when I say none of this is your fault. It is not like you could have known Luka would cheat on me, or that he would attempt to kill me. So, promise me you will stop blaming yourself. I assure you, I do not hold this against you. How can I when you saved my life?
You are truly my hero, and I am thankful for this.
I never meant to hurt you. I am sorry.
It is just been so hard to move on because Luka was my first crush ever along with being my first boyfriend. Then, he broke my heart and as you know a broken heart is not always easily healed.
Again, I am sorry about your mother. I am sorry I have not been as good as a friend as you deserve and I am sorry that I have to leave you behind.
It is not you, it is me. I am the girl who should have known better than to have rushed into things with him. It is not like others did not try to warn me about the guy, but did I listen no.
Please do yourself a favor and forget about me. I will never be worth it. I am just to far gone.
Sincerely,
Marinette
Adrien's POV:
Forget you, Marinette, never. It is not possible.
He sighs, sobs more as he thinks, I am sorry, but I refuse to forget you.
"Marinette, I love you! Oh, why can not you see despite my pain that I can not help it?" He says to himself.
Adrien shakes his head as he thinks about the last line to her letter over and over again.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette thinks, Adrien I hope you know it is for the best.
She believes it is not possible for her to just move on like this.
She can not fall in love all over again. It was to painful the first time, so why then does she feel so guilty? Why then does she feel as if some part of her longs for Paris, France?
Why does some part of her long to feel his arms around her?
Master Fu's POV:
Master Fu thinks, child you can not run from your troubles.
He knows the funny thing about life's problems is they always seem to find you when you least expect them too.
He knows that Adrien loves Marinette so much he will never be able to love anyone else.
He also knows Marinette does not tell Adrien the full truth about how she feels. The question is why she does this to herself? Why can not she let Adrien heal the wounds that her former part of her life left for her? Why can not she let herself be in love and be loved?
