Chapter 8 The Response

      Marinette's  POV:

It has been over a week since I wrote to him.  I did not expect a reply.

I  was never more than a friend to him.  I supposed it was for the best.

At least now that my feelings were out there, I did not have to wish that I had told him.

Only that I had brought it up sooner.

"Agh, what is wrong with me?  Am I not pretty enough?"

"Is that the reason he never noticed me?"

These thoughts were on my mind as I checked the mailbox.

       "Bills, boring, junk mail, lame."

     "Magazine, okay."

    "A letter from Alya, nice."

"Wait, there is another letter from an A. A.  could it be?"

I tore up the envelope that read A.A.

I rushed inside, set the rest of the mail on the container, and started to read the letter.

I  was stunned.   I almost shouted for Tikki to tell her the good news.

Only to reach my empty ears.  Yes, that is right, I gave the miraculous back after Chat, and I defeated Shadowmoth.  I never found out his identity, and he never discovered mine.

"Dear Marinette,"  I read once more.

I was so happy as I finished it for the second time.

Adrien sounded like he wanted to see me.

What should I wear?  What day was the meet-up, again?

"Oh, my goodness, it is tomorrow!"

"I better book a plane ticket, quick!"

I got the ticket ordered and printed online.

I packed and headed out the door.

"Well, United States, here we come!"

I felt as my future awaited me.

Perhaps, in some strange way, it did.

the story continues in Chapter 9

  until then,

bye-bye, little owlets!
