Chapter 11
"Stop!" Chloe shrieked in fear. She held out a shaky hand to her pursuer. He smirked evilly.
The boy was dressed head to toe in a purple cloak. He had chilling yellow eyes that were trained on Chloe. He slowly approached the blonde. His weapon was his hands; he had the ability to control the weather.
"You have no idea who you're messing with," he growled. Chloe stared in horror as she watched the boy clap his hands together and summon a dark, ominous cloud above her.
It started to rain out of nowhere above the girl, even though it was beautiful sunny day. She gasped and fumbled to get to her feet. However, she slipped and fell in a mud puddle that began to form at her feet.
"Tell me where your father is!" the boy yelled angrily to Chloe.
"I don't know!" Chloe yelled. "Why do you care anyway?" She stared at her wet and sopping dress and weeped loudly. "My gown is ruined thanks to you!"
The boy smirked and raised his hands for another attack. "Because he is getting in the way."
Just then, Ladybug swooped in out of nowhere, landing in front of Chloe. She clenched her fists. Although she was shocked at this man's strange capabilities, she had to remain vigilant.
"What do you think you're doing? I don't remember the forecast saying anything about rain," Ladybug exclaimed.
The boy raised an eyebrow. "And who the heck are you? I believe Halloween was a few months ago!"
Ladybug rolled her eyes. "Ha ha. Real funny. But how about you start by introducing yourself?"
The boy grinned. "I am Storm Caster. And you are about to be fried, little bug."
"Cute name," a voice yelled out cheekily. Ladybug glanced to her right and saw Chat Noir leaning up against a tree. She sighed. Hadn't he gotten the hint that she didn't need any help?
"Hm, 'Storm Caster'... is that supposed to be intimidating?" Chat asked cheekily, walking over to Ladybug.
Storm Caster growled and his eyes sparked with anger. He clenched his fists and little bolts of electricity ran over his knuckles. "You won't know what hit you, stupid cat."
He then raised his hand and summoned a giant lightning streak from the sky. It came shooting towards Chat Noir. He quickly dodged the attack.
"Nice, but you missed," Chat shrugged.
Ladybug glanced over at Chloe who was still sitting dumbfounded on the ground. "Run Chloe!" the superhero yelled.
Chloe quickly got to her feet and ran away, crying. Ladybug guessed she was crying because her dress was practically ruined.
"Watch out, my lady!" Chat exclaimed. He pushed himself and Ladybug out of the way. They narrowly avoided a streak of lightning to the heart.
"I told you, don't call me that," Ladybug mumbled with a grunt.
She then got to her feet, helping Chat up as she did so. Ladybug sprinted over to Storm Caster. She flung her yoyo at him, it wrapped around his waist and he plummeted to the ground. His eyes sparked with rage and he summoned another lightning streak. Ladybug gasped. It was coming right for Chat Noir.
"Watch out!" Ladybug yelled, pushing him out of the way. The streak of lightning hit her, sending a jolt of electricity through her body. She winced in pain as Chat gasped. He rushed to her side.
"Why would you do that!" he yelled.
"Because you did the same for me," Ladybug replied quietly, her body aching with pain.
Chat furrowed his eyebrows and then faced the villain. "Okay, now it's just you and me buddy."
Storm Caster smirked. "Bring it, stupid cat."
Chat pulled out his pole and charged for Storm Caster. He swung it at the villain multiple times, trying to successfully hit him on the head. However, Storm Caster simply summoned a gust of wind and sent Chat soaring away. He landed besides Ladybug and frowned.
"How do we defeat this guy?" he asked hopelessly.
Ladybug leaned herself up on one elbow and inspected the villain. "I don't know. He seems invincible. How did he even acquire those powers?"
"An akuma," Tikki said inside Ladybug's head.
"Huh?" Ladybug replied. "An akuma?"
Chat looked at Ladybug, confused. He tilted his head. "What was that?"
"Uh, my kwami is telling me something," Ladybug responded hurriedly. She scooted away from Chat so she could talk to Tikki in private.
"What's an akuma?" Ladybug asked aloud.
"It's the thing that gives the bad guy his powers. It's a little butterfly," Tikki replied. "You have to free it in order to get rid of his abilities."
Ladybug glanced at Storm Caster who was slowly approaching Chat with a wry grin. She'd better hurry up before something bad happened.
"I don't see any butterflies on him," Ladybug shrugged. She widened her eyes as Storm Caster prepared an attack. Acting on instinct, Ladybug hurled her yoyo at the villain and tied him up.
"Tell me how to stop him before he summons another lightning strike!" Ladybug yelled frantically.
"Calm down!" Tikki exclaimed. "The akuma possesses items the villain uses. See that bracelet on his hand? That must be where the akuma is. His hand is casting all of the attacks!"
Ladybug glanced over at the villain; he was fighting off against Chat who tried to hold him down. Then, she noticed a black and blue bracelet on his right wrist.
"Whenever you're ready!" Chat yelled nervously at Ladybug. He held down Storm Caster's arm with his pole, making him unable to summon a storm.
"So break the bracelet?" Ladybug asked Tikki.
"Yep!" Tikki replied enthusiastically.
Ladybug nodded and then started sprinting towards Storm Caster and Chat. "Make sure his hand doesn't get freed!" she yelled to Chat.
Chat Noir nodded and put immense pressure on the villains' arm while Ladybug slid over to them and snatched the bracelet off Storm Caster's wrist.
"No!" Storm Caster yelled.
Ladybug smashed the bracelet with her foot, and just like Tikki said, a purple butterfly fluttered out.
"Now quick, capture it with your yoyo to cleanse it! Hurry! Hurry!" Tikki exclaimed.
"Oh!" Ladybug shrieked, grabbing her yoyo with shaky hands. "How do I do that?"
"Hurry! Swing it around really fast and then capture the butterfly with the end," Tikki said.
Ladybug did as Tikki instructed and successfully captured the butterfly. "First times the charm!" she smiled. "No more evil doing for you, little akuma!"
Then, everything came naturally to Ladybug. She didn't even have to ask what to do next, she just knew. Ladybug swung her yoyo high in the air and yelled, "Time to de-evilize!"
Immediately, everything was back to normal with a red flash. Ladybug blinked and gasped. "Woah, how did I do that..."
Tikki giggled in her head. "Consider yourself lucky."
Chat walked over to Ladybug. "Nicely done," he winked cheekily.
"Thanks, but you and I stopped this guy together," Ladybug laughed.
"So what I'm hearing is... you need a sidekick?" Chat asked with a smirk.
Ladybug crossed her arms. "No, I don't need a sidekick."
Chat frowned, his black cat ears drooping. He stared at the ground. "Oh... I just thought-"
Ladybug tapped on Chat's shoulder and he glanced up at her. She smiled.
"Hold on, kitty. You didn't let me finish. I don't need a sidekick, but I do need a partner."
Chat smiled immensely, pointing at his chest. "Wait, you mean me?"
"Duh!" Ladybug laughed.
"Woo!" Chat cheered. He started to do a little dance. "I did it! I'm a partner! Oh yeah!"
"Woah, there," Ladybug said, grabbing his shoulder. His dance ended abruptly. She winked. "I think I've seen enough for today."
Chat nodded. "That's totally okay!" He bowed gracefully. "Your wish is my command, my lady."
"Don't call-" Ladybug began, but stopped when she noticed the glint in Chat's eye. He seemed to really love calling her that name, so she decided to go with it. Besides, it started to grow on her. Ladybug smiled. "Don't call the shots without me, okay?"
"Of course," Chat replied. He walked over to her and stuck out a hand. "Partners?"
Ladybug glanced at his glowing green eyes and then at his hand. She smiled proudly and accepted his handshake.
"Partners."
