Chapter 7 Jingle Bells
Chat's POV:
Chat hears the small familiar sound in the snow. How did it get here? It is not like he brought it with him. Yet, there it is just the same.
"Mari, I hear jingle bells!" Chat exclaims.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette sniffles a bit, then sobs.
"Did you say, Jingle Bells?" Marinette inquires.
She recalls, the song used to be her mother, and sister's favorite Christmas carol. It is a precious memory.
Chat's POV:
"Yes, I sure did, girlie!"
"Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way..." Chat starts to sing at the top of his lungs.
He hears a soft voice join him soon.
"Dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh, ore the fields we go, laughing all the way, haha, ha. Bells on bob tails ring, making spirits bright, Oh, what fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight. Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way," Marinette sings.
Chat thinks wow, she sings, so well. He can not believe it.
Marinette's POV:
She pays no attention to the astonished look on his face or the carolers outside. She is too caught up in the moment.
For once the song which usually makes her feel sad and alone lifts her spirits.
"Thanks, Chat! I needed that now," Marinette grins.
Chat's POV:
"Glad, I could help, princess," Chat smirks.
Chat is glad she does not appear to be angry for a change. What brought on her sudden change in her mood?
He slides an envelope with $22.00 inside under the door for the Christmas carolers.
Chat never knew the song could be that helpful. He shrugs his shoulders and thinks not bad for an alley cat. He sighs a sigh of relief that she does not know the real reason for the jingles heard outside her home.
Marinette's POV:
Marinette feels the heater turn off then the lights shut off. She notifies the electric company to let them know. She finds out over 800 customers are in the same boat. To make it worse the power is not to be restored until tomorrow around 4 am.
She starts to shiver from the lack of warmth.
Chat Noir sees the goosebumps on her arms. He drapes a jacket over her shoulders, hands her the bedroom slippers, and wraps a scarf around her neck. Then, hands her a hat, gloves, and a quilt.
"Th-Thanks Ch-Chat," Marinette mutters in the cold home. She puts on the hat, gloves, and slippers. Then, pulls the quilt over herself. She thinks at least if we freeze to death we had our fun.
Chat's POV:
Chat grabs some more blankets from out of her closet. He is not sure why he thought to check there. He smiles as he wraps her all tight inside them to shield her from the cold. He grabs her up, carries her, her purse, and keys all the way out the balcony door. He is not sure why he brought the keys anyway. He closes the balcony door.
Now, he picks her up again and carries her to his place as she protests.
"No, objections, princess," Chat reprimands her.
Chat takes her to his room, sets her on the bed, and tucks in her.
"Good night, Marinette," He mutters before he falls asleep in the sleeping bag set up on the floor.
Marinette's POV:
"Good night, silly alley cat!" Marinette shouts at the top of her lungs.
Soon, she falls asleep in the huge bed without another thought about how odd it might look to others in the morning.
She dreams her, and Chat Noir is in a horse-drawn sleigh. She sips on hot chocolate while Chat takes in the nice scenery. She comments, "This is amazing, Chat!"
"No, you are amazing, Marinette!" Chat calls out.
"Wh-what was that Chat?" Marinette questions.
Chat looks at her with a red face, "That was not out loud was it?"
"Y-Yes," Marinette mumbles somehow; she does not mind.
