Chapter 10 Stocking stuffers
Two days later, Marinette wakes up to find a few stockings on her mantle place. She smiles because she knew it must have been Adrien who left them. Sure enough, it was from him. The note he left behind proves it.
Dear Marinette,
I hope you enjoy the two stockings I left here full of goodies for you.
It was a small gesture to think you for letting me nurse you back to health.
I will do my best not to make a pest out of myself.
Take care,
Sincerely,
Adrien Agreste
Marinette's POV:
Marinette grins when she finishes reading the note. She feels like it shows he iss honest. At least he is better than that ridiculous cat, Chat Noir.
She decides to wait for the moment before she opens the gifts. Somehow it did not feel right to do it alone.
Wait, she was used to being by herself. Why did she care if she had no company?
Adrien's POV:
Adrien Agreste wonders if he had done the right thing. He might have gotten a bit carried away with all the presents he left for her. How was he to know she would not react badly to them?
Plagg smirks. "Wow, you did something well for a change, boy."
"I do not need your approval, Plagg. You are not my father."
Adrien fails to notice how his words bother Plagg. He goes to his room and pulls out the small album. It was one with photos of his mother. He looks at it. He had not the slightest idea how, but somehow Marinette reminds him of her. It is strange.
He shakes his head. Who is he kidding?
"I am going to check in on her later."
Plagg nods his head. He knows not to tease Adrien when he sets his mind to something. It is not wise. It is better to keep his mouth shut. He smiles at the knowledge that Adrien is sweet on the girl. Is the girl sweet on Adrien?
Marinette's POV:
Marinette sees an apple, an orange, and some pecans in her chair. It is not possible.
Her folks and sister were both dead. How did the food get there? Who could have left it?
She sees no evidence that anyone broke into her home. She takes a bite of pecans. She feels herself faint as the odor of stale bread fills the air. She tries to fight it. Soon, she passes out.
Adrien's POV:
Adrien leaves to go see Marinette. He walks through the door. Immediately, he senses something is off about the building. No, he thinks t it can not be.
He runs to her room where he sees her on the floor. A few pecans are in her left hand and she is not moving. He can tell she is unconscious. He has to act fast. He takes her out there.
