Chapter 1 Snow
Snowflakes fall across his face as he walks back and forth in the snow. It is almost Christmas time. He recalls how it was a joyous occasion at once, but now it is not. He feels it will never be the same without his mother to help him celebrate it. He is about to walk home to get out of the cold when he hears a girl's sobs.
Adrien debates on what to do. He waits ten minutes, then pulls the door to the small building that reads "Dupain-Cheng Residence" across it. He enters the living room and finds her.
Marinette looks up when she hears someone approach her. She looks up and sees the most gentle green eyes. She stands up, turns toward him, and clears her throat.
"Yes, how may I help you?" She asks.
"Help me, the better question is how may I help you, Miss," He says.
"Whatever do you mean?" She asks.
Adrien shakes his head. He thinks this young lady to be rather a puzzlement. He hugs her compassionately.
Marinette goes into the kitchen and comes back. She hands him a cup with hot chocolate and a few smores. She looks outside with a look of dismay at the snow that falls.
Adrien eats a smore, then sips some hot chocolate. He feels sorry for her that a little change in weather bothers her. He loves the snow. It reminds him of all the happy times he once had with his mother.
Marinette moves away from the window and sees him stare at her. She blushes. She wishes he would leave and take that silly grin with him. She does not want his pity.
Adrien's POV:
He notices the small hint of pink that brushes across her cheeks. He cannot help but wonder what brought on such a reaction. It is not like he gave her a compliment or anything. He barely knows her. Correction, he still has no idea who she is or what made her cry.
Marinette's POV:
She believes it to be rather awkward to have this boy stare at her. She cannot see why he came inside her home. She did not invite him anyway. She knows she never met him. She could care less to know his name. She cannot get close to anyone.
To any passerby, the two look like a group of old friends relaxin together on a cold, winter afternoon. The young boy and girl are far from it though. Both of them just sit there with many things on their minds. They refuse to speak up to question the other, so they just remain strangers.
Plagg's POV:
He hides deep inside Adrien's pocket to his jacket. He believes it to be rather odd his holder should just hang out with some random girl like this. Why should he stay when she does not appear to have any cheese? He peeps out for a second and sees her tears. He pulls his head back so she will not see him. He thinks, got it now, Adrien is here to cheer her up.
He comes up with a plan to draw them closer. He can only hope it works out well for them both. He also wonders, who was that girl that left earlier, and how did Adrien and what is her name not see her?
Tikki's POV:
Tikki is asleep in Marinette's dresser. She does not seem to notice her owner's sadness. She wakes up and hears the girl crunch something. She looks around and sees her with a snack. She frowns when she sees the boy. She thinks, ugh, boys are nothing, but trouble. She cannot believe Marinette would have him here. She wishes he would go because then she could ask Marinette why she was brought to tears again?
She hates this guy for his presence. She senses he is here to stir things up for them both. She cannot stand it. She scoffs at the idea of love since her heart was broken long ago. She rolls her eyes as she hides deep inside the bag.
