Chapter 14 Shadows Outside

        Narrator's POV:

Marinette's face falls when she sees the shadows.  She is not sure how to tell Adrien what troubles her.

Adrien notices the change in Marinette's expression and behavior. He wonders what it is that bothers her.

         Adrien's POV:

"Marinette, what is wrong?" Adrien asks her.

Adrien sees her hand as it points to the window.  He walks over to it and looks outside.

He notices how strange it appears to be for this time of day.

"It is rather dark out for this time of the morning," Adrien remarks. He wonders what is up with this since the weather did not say a thing about rain.

           Marinette's POV:

Marinette takes a deep breath.  Then, she blurts out, "It is the shadows outside!"  She looks afraid of whatever these creatures are she speaks about now.

"Do not let them find me," Marinette says.

"Marinette, what are they exactly and why are they after you?" Adrien asks.

"I do not know why they are after me," Marinette tells them.

         Adrien's  POV:

"Would it help if I went out and spoke to them?" Adrien inquires.

"No, it would just put you in danger," Marinette answers.

"Then, what do I do?" Adrien questions her.

Adrien thinks the last thing I need is to let those things take her.  He can not let his nightmare come true.  At all cost, he must protect her, but how?  It is not like he knows much about them.  He never knew they  were in existence until today.

          Marinette's POV:

"First, be quiet," Marinette tells him.

She sees him give her a funny look as she whispers, " You are going to have to trust me on this Adrien."

"Second, let me do my thing," Marinette states.

Marinette receives funny looks in return, but continues. She pulls out her wand and uses it to make a barrier around the entire house. This way the creepy shadows can not get inside.  She is glad Luka already got past them earlier.   At least this way she knows he is already safe from those horrible things.

Now, she is worn out  so makes a few pillows form around them and lays down. She soon drifts off again into dream land.

        Adrien's POV:

Adrien looks at her and smiles, then glances up in surprise as the shadows back away from the place. He wonders what it was that made them leave.

"Well, whatever it was we are all good," He says.

Adrien hears her talk in her sleep and blushes. He is not sure when to tell her what she says while she is asleep.  He breathes a sigh of relief and lays beside her.

          Chole's  POV:

Chole senses something is off so she flies to see what it is and gasps. She sees the horrible creatures outside the place where Adrien lives. She can believe they would come here.  It is not like anyone... Well, she rather not talk about it.

She  witnesses the whole thing between Marinette and Adrien. She breathes a sigh of relief when those blasted shadows take their leave of the house. She can only hope they will not return.  It is bad news when they show up.  She does wish that Marinette did not have to use her wand so soon.

She knows something the others do not.  It is about the fairy wand, but has not idea how to explain it. It is a secret few fairies are special enough to keep.

Then, again, Marinette might be just the fairy to know about it. She knows Marinette is one special fairy.

"You show them who is boss, yes!" Chole shouts. She is so glad that Adrienette is not hurt.

       Marinette's  POV:

Marinette wakes up twenty minutes later, glad to see everything  is the same as usual.  She is glad to for everyone knows those wild creatures are not easily stopped.  She sees Adrien is awake. She hopes the whole thing did not scare him to much.

It is not everyday she uses her wand.  She was told it was for emergencies only.  Well, she thought the circumstances today definitely were what I would call an emergency.

"Adrien, tell me are you alright?" Marinette asks the concern noticeable in her voice.

"I am fine, Mari,"  Adrien tells her.

"Glad to hear it because I am as well," Marinette responds.
