Chapter 55

Captainsparklez's Point of View

Sparklez stood in Jeb's headquarters after failing to capture Steve once again. All the bounty hunters were in the main room by Jeb's orders. He was speaking to them.

"For the past week or so, we have been trying to capture Steve for Mojang. Every time, we have failed. Now, Mojang no longer trusts us with capturing him.

"But that does not matter. Steve has humiliated us many times. He has even escaped our jail! But that will not happen again. We will capture him, whether Mojang wants us to or not!

"I am offering a 1000 emerald reward for whoever brings Steve to me, alive! Now, go!" Jeb yelled.

Most of the bounty hunters charged out of the base, yelling their battle cries. Sparklez watched them go.

He didn't care about the money. He wanted Steve for another reason.

Vengeance.

Ruby's Point of View

Ruby sat in the common area of the bunker with Louis. Lately, she had been taking care of him so Nina could grieve the loss of her husband.

They were talking about Creepers. Louis loved those things, even though they tried to blow people up. He was babbling on and on about the gunpowder chamber or something like that.

"Ruby!" a voice called. Ruby looked up. It was Manga. He was motioning for her to come over there.

"I gotta go, Louis," Ruby said. "Go play with Goley."

"Okay!" Louis shouted and ran over to the iron golem.

Ruby jogged over to Manga. "What's up?" she asked.

"In here," he said. They walked into the control room.

Lourd was sitting where he usually was. There was a computer up near him.

"We're gonna make a promo," Lourd said.

"Like what Mojang did? With the attack on Harville?" Ruby asked.

"Yes, except we won't be killing anyone. We have plenty of footage of the attack on Creektown. We put that in, then have someone explain all the reasons Mojang is bad. Manga will edit it all together. All we need is a pretty face," Lourd explained.

"Oh no. You are not using me. I hate being on national television," Ruby said, shaking her head. "Count me out."

"Would you rather we use Alex?" Manga taunted.

Ruby hesitated.

"Fine. I'll do it," she finally said.

Apparently, all she had to do was stand in the ruins of Creektown and say a few sentences. Ruby, Manga, Lourd, and a few techies stood in what used to be Creektown, trying to find a good place for her to stand and make her speech.

They finally found a place. Ruby jolted as she realized it was where the Town Hall used to be. The watchtower had apparently fallen on it, and now it was just a mound of cobblestone and wood.

Ruby stood at the top of it. "Ready?" Manga asked. He was holding the camera.

"Hold on. How are you gonna get this on TV?" Ruby asked. "Doesn't Mojang control all broadcasting channels?"

"Oh, we have our ways," Manga said deviously. "Now, are you ready?"

"Yep," Ruby replied.

"Alright. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, action!" Manga said.

"People of Minecraftia," Ruby started. "We have been lied to. Mojang has been controlling monsters, not to keep us safe, but to control the world! We need to fight back. Join the Resistance today!"

"And, cut!" Manga said. "Good, that was good. Just be a bit more heroic looking next time."

They spent the next few hours going over the same scene over and over again. When Manga finally decided that it was good, the sun was setting.

They all walked back down to the bunker. Ruby still couldn't believe the ruins she walked over used to be her home.

When they returned to the control room, Manga said, "The techies and I will take it from here. Good work."

"Tell me when it's done," Ruby said, then walked away.

She walked over to her room. When she had learned that her assigned roommate was Alex, she had almost flipped out. But, she had gotten used to the girl. Since Steve was gone, all she did was play with Sadie and Jessie, the dogs she had rescued from Jay's house.

Ruby was about to open the door when she heard talking inside. Alex was talking.

To herself?

Ruby heard Alex's voice speak, then a short pause, then Alex speak again. Who was she talking to?

Ruby listened closer.

"--making a promo for the Resistance." There was a pause. "No, ma'am." Another pause. "I will tell you when it's up." Pause. "Yes ma'am." Pause. "The Resistance will fall. Oh, and tell Notch I say hi."

Ruby gasped. Alex was a spy!

Then she covered her mouth. Alex had probably heard her.

Sure enough, the door banged open. Alex stood there. "Oh, hey Ruby," she said.

"Hi, Alex," Ruby said her name with disgust, but it seemed to go unnoticed.

"Whatcha up to?" Alex asked sweetly.

"Oh, nothing, I was just gonna go to bed. It is getting late," Ruby replied, her voice dripping with fake sweetness.

"Well, I'll let you get to it then. Bye!" Alex said, walking past Ruby and into the common area.

Ruby walked into the bedroom and paced back and forth. Alex was a spy for Mojang! She had probably been informing them on everything that had happened since she got here!

Ruby knew there was something wrong with that girl.

But what was she going to do about it? She couldn't just accuse Alex in front of everyone. Most people wouldn't believe her. She needed evidence.

Ruby searched Alex's bed and dresser for whatever she used to communicate with Mojang.

After tons of searching, she found a sleek looking phone hidden in her pillowcase.

Ruby searched the phone and found the messages. She quickly skimmed through it.

She couldn't believe it. Mojang had attacked the strike team at the power plant with Creepers. Then they had sent ten bounty hunters after them, then made the Wither near them!

Ruby hoped the strike team was okay. Hopefully, none of them had been killed.

"Whatcha doin' there, Ruby?" said a female voice dripping with sarcasm.

Alex had returned.
