∽Chapter 18∽

*Michael's Point Of View*

We've been in New York for just about half a week now. It is wonderful here. Besides the paparazzi. They are a little bit bolder and relentless than in California. In half a week, I've made time to give Marilyn, the kid's, and myself the attention I and they deserve. That consisted of a 'little' visit to Marilyn's convention. I still have scratches on my shoulder's. For the kid's, I took them shopping and to the promised museum's.

Only catch; we were in small disguises, especially me. I just wanted to take precaution in order to enjoy our family time. Lastly, for myself, I traveled solo (with Bill; he insisted), to a sport's bar.   It's a first for me in a long time. The bar is Blue Haven on West Houston street. It's a bit far from our hotel but the distance is definitely worth it. The bar is very spacious it's like an old grub pub with a lot of alcohol being thrown around but, they have different juices as alternate beverage options. As for the food.

It is phenomenal. Their chicken biscuits and gravy meal is to die for. I swear I didn't want to leave but, because the Blue Haven tends to become quickly crowded I did leave after an hour. So today I decided to take Marilyn to Blue Haven to share my newfound love. While Rafael takes Dylan, Jasmine, and Jordyn out for lunch and the library, Darrel will escort Brandon and David wherever they please. Don't even ask how much this is costing me.

Let's just say, Demi and Kelly will need a few more hit singles to pay for half of our expenses. But a happy wife and kid's are well worth it. "Papa... People are starring at us...", Marilyn whispers, squeezing my hand nervously. I chuckle. "I told you, you can take off the wig now. No one will bother us in here.", I convince, turning to Bill for a witness to my testimony. He nods. "Yeah... He's not that damn famous.", He jokes, escorting us to our booth. I roll my eyes.

"You better watch it... Go play some pool or something. ", He shakes his head and walks away. Marilyn removes her wig then her coat, revealing her shoulder length coils and her well knitted mahogany dress. She wanted to be prepared for today's forecast of a low of 32° Fahrenheit. I went casual and warm with a simple apple red flannel with two white t-shirts layered underneath, and a pair of compression pants layered with a pair of my usual black trousers.

"Why exactly am I at a sport's bar?", Marilyn asks, breaking my concentration from the menu in front of me. I glance up at her smiling. "Well I thought you would like a little change from the usual... This place has everything... ", I beam like a small child. Marilyn has this uneasy expression plastered on her face as she scans the room. "Yeah including alcohol... ", She adds, glancing at me again. I sigh and turn my attention to the approaching waiter.

"Hello, I'm Channing how are yo-... It's you... ", The familiar man whispers. I spot Bill slowly walking over from the far corner of the arcade section. I gesture for him to stay put. He reluctantly obeys. I force a smile and glance up at the psycho. "We would like your famous chicken biscuits and gravy with Rase Berry ice tea. ", I order casually. Marilyn is staring a hole into his check book. Channing glances at Marilyn.

"Nice seeing you again.", He turns to me. "You too. Your order will be right up...", He walks away with his head bowed. "When was he released? How? Where?", Marilyn asks, watching him disappear behind the kitchen door. "I don't know. And it doesn't matter nothing's going to happen Mama... ", I reassure her, switching my side of the bench for hers. "Michael he tried to hurt you...people don't just change in a year and a couple of months! ", She exclaims, shaking a little. I place my hand on hers.

"Bill is right over there... He will get him before he can get us okay?", She inhales then exhales deeply before nodding. "I don't know if I want to stay...", She said softly. I sigh. "Okay Mama... I'll tell-", "Alright... Here you go... Two order's of chicken biscuits with a bowl of gravy and Two Rase Berry tea's. Anything else?", Channing asks, placing our order in front of us.

*Marilyn's Point Of View*

I'm scared right now. Just knowing he's out makes me feel a bit paranoid. Channing looks different even genuinely apologetic. But looks are deceiving. Channing gives Michael and I a small smile. Michael clears his throat. "Umm actually we were just-", "Look I'm sorry, For everything. I was wrong for trying to even hurt you. But I wanted you to feel my pain. You were taking away what I rightfully earned.

Just the thought of her returning to the bastard that hurt her...", Channing express, taking a seat on the other bench. What in the Hell? I tense up a little. Channing sighs then continues. "Don't worry I'm on probation and I'm being watched. I can't hurt you guys. I just have to make thing's right. I'm sorry Marilyn. I love you and that won't change. But I see who has your heart. I respect that.", He takes a long pause before making eye contact with Michael. "Michael... Man I'm sorry. I let anger take over. I just hope you can forgive me.", He slowly stands up and quickly walks off.

Michael and I exchange glances. "I wish he didn't mention that...", Michael exhales, looking away. "Michael... Papa it's okay. ", He shakes his head standing  up. "I'll...Umm...Excuse me....", He murmurs, walking away. I frown then quickly stand up to follow him. He stops and turns to me. "I just need a minute... ", With that he continues walking. It only took two minutes before Bill walks up to investigate.

"What's up with him?", I shrug. "I don't know... ", Bill mumbles something beneath his breath. "I'll find out. Stay put and you know what to do if Mister Tatum tries anything... ", I nod. He gives me a quick pat on the shoulder before jogging after Michael...
