My Father's A Homo (part 3)

There was a prolonged silence where the three boys just looked at each other, none of them knowing quite what to say. However, the silence was broken as Jason suddenly asked "Whizzer, do you know how to play chess?"

The small boy eagerly lead the men into the living room and quickly took out his chess set, the box of which was tattered and torn. He opened it up and set it onto the table carefully. Marvin chuckled to himself as his son set up the pieces. "Jason, buddy, you know you can't play chess with three people?" Jason's eager face drooped into a sad one as he paused, and then reluctantly put the pieces back into the box.

"Hey, it's ok," spoke his father "why don't we talk instead? You can learn a bit about Whizzer, and Whizzer can learn about you! I'm sure he'd love to know you better - right Whiz?" He looked over to his lover, who was nodding his head.
"Sure would!" Whizzer smiled.
Jason was visibly more nervous than before, as he didn't have chess to ease the situation.
"Can I ask you some questions?" Jason asked Whizzer in a very polite, yet shy manner. Whizzer chuckled and nodded.
"Go ahead."

Jason grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil and sat up straight as if he was interviewing Whizzer for a job. "So..." he started, awkwardly. "You're...gay?" Whizzer giggled at Jason's attempt to address the elephant in the room. He stopped and smiled at the boy.
"Yes, I am. And so is your father." Marvin slumped his head into his hands as he prayed that Jason wouldn't say anything stupid.

Jason scribbled Whizzer's response onto the paper, before meekly asking: "And...if daddy's gay does that mean- one day- I could turn gay?" Marvin groaned in embarrassment, but Whizzer scolded and flicked Marvin's thigh. "He's only a boy Marvin, don't be mean." He whispered into his ear. He then coughed and looked back to Jason. "No, sweetie, it's not genetic. You'll be just fine." He said with a chuckle, not letting Jason's ignorance bother him in any way.

Jason sighed. "Phew!" He wrote down Whizzer's response quickly. "Jason," Marvin butted in, "you know being gay isn't a bad thing? We're just the same as any other couple." Jason frowned.
"But...it's not normal." Marvin opened his mouth to argue, but Whizzer placed a hand on his thigh and shushed him. He thought about his response carefully before speaking to Jason.

"Well, it's certainly not as common, but we're no different to anyone else. We still want to be loved and accepted." Jason scrunched his nose and scratched his head.
"It's just like how you like playing chess by yourself," Marvin spoke "and people might think it's 'weird' or 'not normal' but you shouldn't be treated any differently, should you? You still deserve cookies and hugs and love, right?" Something in Jason's head suddenly clicked, and he nodded and smiled. "Oh, I get it now!" he said, before messily writing 'gays deserve cookies too' on to his paper.

Jason sat back up straight, and looked at Whizzer. "Onto the next question..." He said, and Marvin chuckled. "Do you know how to play sports, and - in a hypothetical scenario -would you be willing to play sports with me?" Jason bit his lip as he waited for a response from the tall man.
"Well..." Whizzer said, with a fake serious face, "that depends on whether you like baseball." Jason smiled wide and nodded.
"Yes!" He said eagerly. "Well...I like watching it but I've never really played before. But you can teach me, can't you?" Whizzer chuckled at the boy's enthusiasm.
"I would be happy to." He smiled.

Jason happily scribbled onto the paper, then looked up at Whizzer with a more solemn face. "Ok, I just have one more question for you..." He sounded nervous.
"Sure, go on" Whizzer said in a calm voice.
"Am I allowed to call you dad?"
Whizzer could feel tears pricking in his eyes, as Jason looked up at him with anticipation. Being a father meant so much to Whizzer, seeing as his own hadn't been very kind to him. He took a deep breath before replying to Jason.
"Only if you want to." He said quietly. "Just remember that I will never try to replace your daddy or your mommy - but if you want to call me dad, or papa, or uncle Whiz or whatever, I will be fine with it." A tear rolled down his cheek.

Marvin looked over to his lover. "Wh-Whiz, are you crying?" Whizzer blushed violently and shook his head, wiping the tear away.
"What? No! I'm a man! Men don't cry, Marvin." He looked down and Marvin chuckled and smiled, putting a hand on Whizzer's knee. He could see how touched Whizzer was by Jason's question.

Whizzer coughed and looked back up at Jason, who also had tears in his eyes. "Oh, come here you!" Whizzer smiled and pulled Jason in for a hug, which he surprisingly didn't reject - in fact he hugged Whizzer back. Just as Jason was about to speak, they were interrupted.
"Dinner's ready!" Trina called.
They laughed and came out of the embrace. Whizzer wrapped himself around Marvin and smiled as Jason ran to the kitchen.
"We did it!" Whizzer said with a grin.
"You did it." Marvin replied and kissed him, and then, giving the man a cheeky grin, he whispered "Daddy Whizzer."
