Chapter 6

I ran as fast as my long legs could carry me, it was already six past five minutes and here I'm just entering the park. Come on Dawn, you've to be there on time!

After my lectures got over, I had to wait for Tani as she had more lectures than me today but by the time she came out I was already running late for my shift in the Cafe so I had to drive fast yet again. As soon as I reached the Cafe I practically leapt out of the car while letting Tani take the car back home since I wanted her to reach safely and she knows driving too.

We can say that she is a safer driver than me.

And as always, I had to stay a couple of more minutes because the girl who is after me was late. That didn't even allow me to change, so I'm still wearing my all-black outfit.

As soon as I reached the destination we had met today morning I saw him sitting on the bench but this time he was alone, there was no Kyung. Dalhyun was again wearing a black mask and this time even a paperboy cap. Why does this scene look so familiar to me?

I think he doesn't know that this is the most scheduled area of the park. People hardly come here for some reason.

I stood right in front of him as I leaned my hands on my knees and panted, "I'm...so...sorry...to be...late..." I tried to say between my pants.

I couldn't see his expression because of the disguise so I kept my eyes roaming over his figure. He brought his wrist in front of his face and said, "it's six past seven minutes. How are you late?"

I took a seat beside him as he scooted over while I sighed dramatically, "I blame my best friend for that. She always wants to be on time in everything and being with her for the past six years makes you like that-" I stopped speaking as I saw him staring at me. I felt heat rush into my cheeks as I bit my lower lip, "I'm sorry for rambling."

Stupid stupid Dawn!

"It's fine." He flashed his famous boxy smile at me. "Oh—um—I'm wearing the mask to disguise myself, I've no intention to come out as rude to you."

I waved it, "I completely understand. By the way, this is the most scheduled place in the park so you don't have to be worried." I informed him. After a few seconds of looking around, he removed his mask and then his paperboy cap. I eyed followed his cap as I assessed it, thinking about where I'd seen it before.

"So Dawn, Tell me about yourself." He said as he drew my attention from the cap. I grinned as I crossed my legs as leaned against the armrest while facing him. He raised an eyebrow at me while he showed me a lopsided smile.

"So my name is Dawn as you know, I'm doing PhD in business studies at Stanford. And I work in a café to prove—because I li—like it. I live with my best friend in a small house outside our campus." I said then thought for a while if there is something else to add. "Hm, that's it. Oh! I'm so sorry I just kept on saying, I'm sorry if I came out rude."

What the hell is wrong with me? You're being so disrespectful to him Dawn! Not only he is a celebrity but he is 10 years older than me.

Shouldn't I call him bhaiya?

Oh my goodness-

"Dawn?" I saw fingers snap in front of me as I snapped out of my thoughts, "I know I'm an idol but please talk to me like I'm an ordinary guy you met in a park." I frowned at his sentence, "I mean, it's not every day where I witness a female being so open to me—not caring about how she should carry herself in front of me."

"Oh, um—" I gulped, "sure! I-I'll try. But you gotta be informal too. You're way too formal with me."

He smiled as he nodded, "now ask me something."

I thought for a while, there were a million questions I wanted to ask like, what's life like being an idol? "Why—why did you want to meet me? Like I'm just a girl who came across you by accident and is keeping your location a secret."

"As I said before, you're different from the females I've met so far that's why I just felt like I should know you." I nodded in understanding. He is right when he said I'm different, I mean I know I'm different that's why I just kept on talking like a stupid person. Though It showed that I didn't care that he is an idol, in my mind—I do care.

"Dalhyun—" I immediately stopped speaking, he is older than me for god's sake I shouldn't call him by his name, my mother has taught me better manners. "I—I—Since you're older than me I shouldn't call you by your name. So should I call you bhaiya?"

Bhaiya?! Jeez, Dawn!"

"Bhai—yah?" He tried to pronounce the word, "what's that?"

"Um—in my culture when we meet a Male who is older than us we call them either Bhaiya or Uncle. I think Bhaiya means Oppa in Korean."

He raised an eyebrow as he smirked at me, "you do know the meaning of Oppa right?"

"Yeah. It means older brother...in Korean..." I trailed off as I started thinking. "I've seen k-dramas where a girl calls her boyfriend Oppa but I never got the concept. So I just went with Oppa meaning older brother."

He chuckled, "if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?"

That's one of the things I don't want to tell you Dalhyun.

I saw her avert her eyes from me as she looked around while I patiently waited for her to answer. "I-I am twenty."

She is nine years younger than me?!

When she said she is a student at Stanford I thought she would be twenty-two, but she is twenty. Nine damn years younger than me. "Ah, I see."

"Technically it's ten years because I'm 2005 born. But because of our birthdays, we have nine years difference. But for four days we have 10 years difference."

It took a minute to understand what she meant. Since I'm on born 28th December 1990 and she is a 2005 born then, "you're born on 1st January?" She nodded timidly, "Wow, birthday and new year huh?" She just shrugged with a small smile. What's with the sudden quietness?

"There is a basketball court here, you wanna play?" She asked as she diverted the topic. It seems like she isn't fond of her birthday but why?

"Sure," I stood up as she stood up with me, "you don't seem like American. Which country are you from?" I asked despite knowing that she is Indian, especially because when she used the word Bhai—yah her accent was so prominent.

I was surprised when I saw her running towards me then apologising for being late by just seven minutes then the way she sat so comfortably and also her cute rambling. I could never get bored while talking with her it seems.

"I—I, uh—I'm an Indian." She nodded while staring at the ground. Why does, the topic of her name, her birthdate and her origin bother her so much?

Not wanting to make her more uncomfortable I didn't ask her a new question. She guided me towards the court silently, as I kept wondering about her.

It's true that she is different but what made her so different that I want to keep meeting her? Maybe I want to be friends with her.

I felt a ball hit my chest as I heard cute giggles, I snapped out of my thoughts as I saw her laughing her heart out while looking at me. She is just so cute.

I smirked then picked up the ball and threw it at her, she yelped and caught the ball with both hands while squinting her obsidian eyes at me. "You are so on." She stated then let the ball as she removed her grey sweater— rather sensually slow. My eyes travelled over her small black top as I cussed internally.

This is gonna be very hard.
