Chapter 9
Re-cap:
"You know, I would want you to eat them all, but at least you ate a little bit," then he snatched a cookie and ate it, "Don't tell Patton," he winked. I fought a smile.
"Hey Ro?"
~Virgil's PoV~
"Yea Virgil?" he replied.
"Can you get me my sketchbook?" I asked. I chuckled and looked at me.
"Can't you get it yourself?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow. I tightened the blanket around me. He sighed, "Alright, alright," he murmured, getting up and passing me the sketchbook. I thanked him quietly and looked at the unfinished sketch of Roman. I knew I should start a new drawing, but I hate unfinished drawings, so I started on finishing the sketch.
~Patton's PoV~
I was really worried about Virgil. I wanted to watch over him. but at the same time, I ship Roman and Virgil like religion, I really want them to get together. At the moment, I was freaking out in my room, silently. To everyone else, I seemed like a happy little puffball. But I wasn't, right now I was scared and worried, and sad. I didn't want anyone to see me like this. Those cookies I baked for Virgil? Stress baking.
I heard the door open and gasped, looking up with wide, tear-filled eyes.
Logan stood there, a worried expression on his face.
"L-Logan!" I said, straining to put a smile on my face. Logan seemed disappointed.
"Patton, don't pretend to be happy or even mildly... 'okay' with this situation," he said, walking over and sitting next to me, opening his arms.
I instantly got the memo and collapsed into his arms, which wrapped around me comfortably. I started to sob quietly, Logan rubbed my back, staying silent.
"It'll be okay Patton, everything will be okay..." he said after a while.
"H-How do you know that?" I asked, voice cracking and wavering. It broke my heart to see Virgil like this... and it reminded my of my own experiences.
"Because you're strong," he said, seriously. I let out a sad sort of laugh.
"Strong? Logan, look at me, I'm weak, how could you possibly think I'm strong?" I asked quietly, turning away.
"Because Patton, the universe will always try to knock you off your feet. It will always try to crush you. It has since the very day you were born. But it doesn't matter how many times you get pushed down, it only matters however many times you get up. To me, strength isn't defined by muscles and looks, it's your will and determination. I know that something has happened to you like this, and look, you're still standing, you still have the strength to smile. That's how I know everything will be okay," he finished. At this point, I was crying more, but of a feeling, I couldn't place. I buried my head into Logan's chest, continuing to cry. After a moment's hesitation, he ran a hand through my hair.
"Everything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be alright
Nobody's gotta worry 'bout nothing
Don't go hitting that panic button
It ain't near as bad as you think
Everything's gonna be alright
Alright, alrightThere ain't no doubt it's gonna work out
Come on, sing it with me
There ain't no doubt it's gonna work out
Come on and sing it with meEverything's gonna be alright
Everything's gonna be alright
And nobody's gotta worry 'bout nothing
Don't go hitting that panic button
It ain't near as bad as you think
Everything's gonna be alright" Logan sang softly to me. I closed my eyes as he sang. He had a deep voice, but a soft one. I drifted off to sleep, knowing everything's gonna be alright.
