🌹 The Fairy Law
"Fairy Law. . .The attack that defeated Master Jose in a single blow. . .?!" Gajeel's harsh voice brought Gabbriel back from her dream-like state her mind had put her into. She didn't dare look at Laxus, or anything for that matter. Just the roof over their heads. Well, the parts of the roof that somehow still stood.
"Stop!! Laxus!" Natsu shouted from his spot somewhere to Gabbriel's left.
"That shouldn't be allowed. . .An attack that targets everyone the user recognizes as an enemy!!"
"Laxus!!"
"Akemi," Gabbriel hummed lightly. "Don't wait for me."
The doors - that somehow managed to stay standing - bursts open and a certain blue-haired book worm stood their. "Stop!! Laxus!!"
"Levi!!" Natsu turned.
"You fool. . .What are you doing here?" Gajeel snarled, while Gabbriel shook her head lightly.
"That master is. . ." Levi ignored the Three Dragon Slayers - controlling her voice. "Your own grandfather," She started to cry. "Is on Death's door!! So please!! Just stop this!! Just go and see him!!"
The spell didn't let up - and Gabbriel was inching her way closer to her brother. The soft mumble of Natsu made her cringe a little at his pain.
"On. . .Death's door? The old man's. . .gonna die?"
"Laxus!!" Levi wailed as the spell started to pick up. Laxus' face was contorted into a sickening smile of victory.
"Well that suits me just great! Looks like my chance of becoming Master just went up again."
"Why you," Gajeel snarled. Gabbriel's fingertips brushed her brothers' hand as words tumbled from her lips.
"Laxus. . .He's no better than Jose. . ."
"I'll build you up again from scratch!! A guild that will never lose!! That'll make everyone tremble in fear!! I'll make the ultimate guild!!" Laxus ranted from his spot, making the earth tremble beneath him.
"No!" Levi cried, dropping to the ground.
Gabbriel could practically feel the flames threatening to explode from Natsu as he laid there - furious. "Why the hell. . .Are you so. . ."
"Fairy Law!! Activate!!"
Gabbriel felt Gajeel's hand clamp around hers as a bright yellow glow expanded from Laxus to how ever far out he planned to let the spell go. It was a buzzing feeling that made Gabbey cringe slightly in discomfort, but she didn't feel like she was dying. . .Maybe that's what suppose to happen?
The dust around them was thick - and Laxus panting and random sprouts of words were easily heard. It sounded like he was saying he 'surpassed him'.
The battle ground was suddenly filled with noise again at Gabbriel sneeze, Levi coughed, and Gajeel grunted in confusion.
"Why?!" Laxus' enraged shouted filled the area. "Why are they not dead?!"
"You okay?" Gajeel glanced over to Levy - clutching Gabbriel's hand as they pushed their bond in worry.
"Uh-huh," Levy hummed in slight confusion - because Gajeel asked how she was or because she wasn't dead, Gabbey didn't guess. "I'm fine. . .What about Natsu and Gabbriel?"
"I'm still here." Gabbey replied simply, arms shaking with effort as she pushed herself to sit up. "Hurts like hell, though."
"Natsu. . ." Gajeel paused. "He looks alright."
"What the fuck's going on!!" Laxus roared. "How can anyone survive an attack of that magnitude?!?!"
"The guild members. . .and all the townspeople are safe. Not a single person has been harmed." At the sound of Green Tree's voice, Gabbriel felt slight panic overtake her again - but did her best not to show it. Gajeel pushed comfort towards her almost instantly.
"Freed?!" Levy exclaimed.
"That's just not possible!!" Laxus denied. "My Fairy Law was perfect!!"
"It's your heart, Laxus." Freed stated, knowing what he was talking about. "Your power and your magical ability aren't the only things that you have inherited from the Master. A heart that cares for its comrades." The Green Tree paused, leaning heavily at the entrance. "Fairy Law only affects those whom the user recognizes as his enemies. Do you understand what I'm saying, Laxus?"
"His magic penetrated to the depths of his heart. . ." Levi breathed out in realization.
"You can't lie to your magic Laxus. This is just how you truly feel."
If Laxus wasn't an ass to her and her twin from the moment they met - she might have been able to stir up some sympathy for him. He looked like he was going through a mid-life crisis; that he didn't know what was real anymore.
"NO!!" Laxus yelled. "Anybody who gets in my way is an enemy!! They're my enemy!!"
"Give it up, Laxus. Just go to the master." Freed seem to be done with the situation.
"I don't care what the hell happens to that old fart!!!" Laxus hollered. "I am myself!! I'm not his grandson!! I'm Laxus! I'm Laxus!!"
Gabbriel heaved out a breath as she dragged herself closer to Gajeel - who was glaring at the mad blond in front of them.
"We all know that." Natsu's voice rung clear as he shook with rage - flames finally escaping his hold as he moved to stand. "Don't get all big-headed on us dumbass. So what if you're the old man's grand kid? Does that make you so special? So different? Don't you get hung up over some stupid blood relation!! The guild is the only family we need!!"
"How could you understand?" Laxus sneered lowly.
"Do we have to understand you to be your comrades? We reach our hands out to one another to get past that!! Laxus!!" The Fire Dragon Slayer roared, rearing back his fist and running to the other Dragon Slayer.
"Shut up, Natsu!!" Laxus roared back, pulling his own fist back. "Just disappear already!!!"
"I'm gonna stop you here and now!!" Natsu declared. "I won't let you have the guild even if I die! The guild is our home!!"
The two punches hit their marks before the two Dragon Slayers burst out of the chapel. Or, what was left of it. Levy quickly ran over to the twin as Gabbriel tried to stand.
"Come on," She grunted, trying to help her brother up. "That idiot needs our help."
"Let me help you," Levy demanded, trying to reach for Gajeel's other arm. Her wrist was quickly caught by Gabbey's hand and the two of them locked eyes. Red eyes and brown eyes were in a stare off. "Gabbriel. Let me help."
Gabbriel's face twitched but she slowly let go of Levy's wrist. "We better hurry." Was all that she said. The two girls managed to get Gajeel on his feet and guided him outside with Freed following besides them. Just as they got outside - Natsu's small body flew into a wall not too far from them.
Laxus was quick to punch him down the building before kicking him over to another roof. Natsu dragged his hands into the roof to slow his fall, laying down a second before pushing himself up.
"Natsu!!" Levy cried. "You're going to get yourself killed!!"
"Why won't you just give up the fight?" Natsu heaved out. Even if he was just talking to Laxus - Gajeel and Gabbriel could hear them perfectly. "The guild doesn't belong to you. It never will!!"
If Laxus hasn't snapped before that moment, he must have them. Rage contorted his face as he reared back. "Oh yeah? Lightning Dragon's Breakdown Fist!!"
The attack hit Natsu head on - but he still managed to stand tall.
"How can he still stand?" Freed murmured in awe.
"Natsu. . .Please be careful." Levy whispered.
"That was your last mistake, kid!!" Laxus growled - electricity flying all around him. "Now I'm going to obliterate you!!"
"That spell. . .Don't do it, Laxus!! This much magic energy could kill him!!" At Freed's panicked voice, Gabbriel started to move forwards. Her brother matched her pace as well, as much as she didn't want him to. They both tried to quickly make their way to the level of roof the two were on.
Gabbriel knew from the way the air hung over them that Natsu would not make it through the spell if it even grazed him. He made be a determined little shit, but his body could only take so much magical damage.
"Have you been working on it?" Gajeel grunted quickly, raising his left arm up once they made it. Gabbey lifted her arm up right next to her brother's.
"Yup."
"Lightning Dragon's Heavenward Halberd!!"
"This kid owns us." Gabbriel sneered as Gajeel's left arm turned into an iron club. Gabbriel scrunched up her face in concentration - willing her mind and body to become one. As the spell got closer to Natsu's form, Gabbriel's arm turned into an iron club.
Just before it could hit Natsu - the lightning did a sharp turned and hit Gajeel's iron rod - going throughout his body and into Gabbriel's as well. The two of them were pushed back by the force - and flew off the roof.
"Gajeel!! Gabbriel!!"
Natsu made eye contact with the two Iron mages, eyes wide with disbelief of what happened.
"What are you waiting for, you idiot?" Gabbey sneered.
"Get him!!" Gajeel finished.
Gabbriel relaxed - knowing that this long battle would soon end - and let her body fall limply through the air. The black-haired girl passed out before she felt the pain of hitting the ground; but she did hear one last spell that confirmed her thoughts about winning this fight.
"Fire Dragon's-!!!"
