AU Bio:

A Swapped Stories AU with a fusion of the Pokemon and Digimon casts in the mixed world of Shadowside and Shinbi Apartment. This AU also derives from my personal headcanon that Masaru, Taichi, Daisuke, Takato, Takuya and Taiki are aware of Youkai in the original world, while taking into account how similar Digimon Ghost Game is to Shadowside.

Tomoki x Satoshi X Gou (BrokenByLifeShipping), Takuya x Takato, Kouji x Izumi, Junpei x Kouichi, Taiki x Daisuke

Premise:

In Shadowside, a Youkai has two sides; the docile side, Lightside, and the more violent yet battle-ready side, Shadowside. The Youkai Watch Elda, or in this case, the Y-Scanners, allows the wielders to summon friends to their aid while scanning the area for Youkai. This AU also utilizes 絆 (Kizuna = Bonds), where two or more people bond and fight together with the help of MythiSoul, a mysterious power lying in the soul. Fusions and evolutions are also possible for them here. They call the fusion Ancient Almagamation. The team is called the Mythical Tanteisha.

In Shinbi Aparteu, the ghosts are like Youkai, but they don't have sides. They look more similar to the generic look in horror movies. After they pass on, their original forms can be allies and they are summoned with a Ghost Ball, or, in this case, a G-Arc. Kizunas can also be seen here.

This AU sees that Youki can take the form of many elements, specifically the ten elements shown in Frontier (Fire, Wind, Darkness, Light, Thunder, Ice, Water, Wood, Steel, Earth).

Characters:

1. Kanbara Takuya

He's the leader of the agency, and he's balanced out by Kouji due to his recklessness. However, he is also smart and can plan out battles quite well due to being a strategist for his soccer team. While unfamiliar with the world of Youkai at first, he becomes well-versed with the language those who can't speak Japanese use and can translate for them no matter what they're saying, like Pikachu, Hibunny, Messon and Sarunori. He has a crush on Takato, who he thinks likes Jianliang until Takato confesses to him, which surprises him a lot. His Youki Element is Fire, and he fights with physical hand-to-hand combat.

He's Takuya's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Fire before his reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Takuya's guardian spirit. He's calm and rational, although, like the fire he represents, he's very determined and can get hot-headed at times.

She is Takuya's other partner, who serves him without a question, but she also has a snarky side to her. She sometimes roasts people unintentionally and helps lighten the mood often after a hard battle. She cares for Takuya and the others, making sure they get what they need.

2. Minamoto Kouji

He's a martial artist who can fight well, thinking calmly as opposed to Takuya's quick thinking. He has read a lot of books on Youkai, but is still learning with his friends about their mysteries. He cares a lot for his friends and tries to spend some quality time with them despite being awkward with situations like these. After confessing to Izumi about his crush on her (she's so extroverted and beautiful, in his words), she begins helping him grow more comfortable with his friends to the point that he can accept Satoshi and Gou warmly. His Youki Element is Light, and he fights with a kendo stick.

He's Kouji's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Light before his reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Kouji's guardian spirit. He's stubborn and doesn't give up, yet he does listen to others to some degree. He looks cold on the outside, but he's actually really kind and chivalrous.

3. Orimoto Izumi

She's a fighter, always doing her best despite her fears of certain things to help solve cases. She tends to be the medic of the team as well due to being the only "smart" one in the group. After Kouji confesses to her, surprising her, she becomes more open with the others. Her Youki Element is Wind, and she fights with a sword.

She's Izumi's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Wind before her reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Izumi's guardian spirit. She's very excitable and kind, trying to help others despite her weaknesses. She won't back down from a challenge, although at times she will fall short.

4. Shibayama Junpei

He's the technical one of the team, being the one in charge of researching up cases alongside Gou, and keeping notes of the cases that they solve in digital files. He is a loud energetic person who does his best to help his friends, although he did have a crush on Izumi before meeting Kouichi. After they begin dating, Junpei grows more understanding and empathic. His Youki Element is Lightning, and he fights with brass knuckles.

He's Junpei's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Lightning before his reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Junpei's guardian spirit. He's strong, a bit arrogant, but has good intentions and will fight to the best of his ability. He does tend to overcompensate, though.

5. Himi Tomoki

He's the youngest of the team, and he often tries to overcompensate for it, although after being together with Satoshi and Gou for a while, he slowly grows more comfortable with the role of detective in the team, aided by Gou and encouraged by Satoshi. A bit shy and caring, Tomoki may come off as a bit spoiled, but he grows more independent with the help of his friends and loved ones. His Youki Element is Ice and he fights with his fists and kicks like Takuya.

He's Tomoki's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Ice before his reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Tomoki's partner. While playful and mischievous, Chak doesn't give up in the face of adversity and won't let others hurt his loved ones. He also takes care of the younger Youkai like Pikachu, Hibunny, Messon and Sarunori, acting as the older brother.

6. Kimura Kouichi

He's the one who usually gives second chances to Youkai, mainly because he had been used by Oniou Rasen Cherubi in order to get the world to bow down to the Onimaro. After nearly dying and being saved by his friends' efforts, giving up Magna Garurum, Kaizer Grey and Susanoo as a consequence, Kouichi appreciates life more now, and is the one most well-versed with the Youki, since he had grown up in a shrine. He is kind and cares a lot for his friends, often risking his life for them. His Youki Element is Darkness, and he fights with a dual dagger.

-> (former) Dusk(L)/Velgr(S)

He was corrupted by the Fallen Oni Luce and then used to control Kouichi and Cherubi before rising up and trying to take over the world. However, he is defeated and, as a last resort, saves Kouichi from dying, later on, sacrificing himself for Kouichi, whose kindness was nothing he had ever felt before. He pretends to be the reincarnation of the Legendary Warrior of Darkness, but it is soon revealed it was a lie.

He's now Kouichi's partner, known as the Legendary Warrior of Darkness before his reincarnation, and eventually ended up being Kouichi's partner after Dusk is defeated. He is quiet, yet he will fiercely fight for his loved ones and he never gives up despite the stacking odds.

7. Kimini Satoshi

He is Tomoki's classmate and one of his love interests, who is also an Aura Adept (a type of person who can sense Aura in humans and other mythical creatures) from a young age. Because of this, he has been involved with them for a long time, and is immune to the memory erasure done by Meicoo. He is a derper, although he hides the deep hurt and intellect with a smile. After joining the team he begins to open up more, and has become an integral asset to the team. His Youki Element is Lightning, and he uses gloves to fight.

-> Pikachu

He's Satoshi's guardian spirit, and a Lightning-type Youkai who has a strong bond to Satoshi, allowing Satoshi to help him unlock 2 special Soultimates, 1 Million Volts and Sparking Gigavolt. Due to this, Pikachu can also, to some degree, sense malice from someone, mainly from their smell. Pikachu is upbeat, happy, and a proficient battler, although he loves ketchup like an obsession.

8. Shinkawa Gou

He is Tomoki's other love interest, being his classmate and one of the rare people that can see Youkai without a device because his mom had been granted a watch in the past, and its power has been passed down to him. While seeming like an arrogant show-off, he's actually really introverted and smart, slowly establishing his place on the team as the researcher, the jack of all trades when combined with Satoshi and Tomoki, and an unstoppable team when together, although they are also able to hold their own individually. He can use multiple elements to his advantage; Wind, Water, and Fire, while using a sword to fight.

-> Hibunny --> Rabbifoot --> Aceburn

He's one of Gou's guardian spirits, and a Fire-type Youkai. While mischievous at first, the Youkai proved himself worthy, and although there were times when they didn't get along, they got past them, and now Aceburn is a permanent partner to him. Very cheerful, a bit excitable, and easily determined, he does butt heads with Satoshi's friend Lucario, although that is to be expected.

-> Messon --> Jimeleon --> Inteleon

While at first timid, shy, and cowardly due to his abusive backstory, Messon soon grows to become a confident Inteleon with Gou's help. The two of course have had their own struggles, but nevertheless they got through them. As a Water-type Youkai and one of Gou's guardian spirits, he does his best to show Gou how to use the water to calm down.

-> Sarunori

The most recent member of the guardian spirit team, Sarunori is mischievous, downright playful, and doesn't hold back from hitting people on the head with his stick. However, he does his best to be Gou's emotional support, especially considering his trust issues, and knows how to use Wind Youki effectively, teaching Gou how to calm down and relax before he overloads.

9. Oozora Yuujin => Shut-Off(L)/LogoBoot(S)

He's a Fire-Darkness Youkai who combines the two aspects almost flawlessly, using it to attack his foes AND create pocket dimensions so those he inspirits can live "happy" lives with the people they love. After he is defeated by the Agency, it's revealed that he was in love with 2 other people in his school, but he was bullied for being emotionally weak, and eventually took his own life. This second chance at life gives him the chance to join the Agency, and he slowly becomes a member, the second independent one following Meicoo. He's a bit shy, but speaks up when he feels like it, and is considered the baby of the group aside from Gamma.

10. Matsuda Takato (leader of Ghost Tamers)

Takato is a proficient leader for the Ghost Tamers, being the first of the team to learn about them with the unknowing help of Takuya, and gathering them to help save the world from the Underground Reaper. From there, they fight off different ghosts until Jianliang's death, which is tied into Taiki's past as he and the others soon discover while visiting Sapporo and helping Taiki solve a mystery of his past. Takato and Takuya are seatmates, and Takato has a crush on Takuya but never confessed until Takuya confessed his love for Takato, which prompted him to admit he reciprocated it and got them together (at long last). While shy, he is a great drawer and is always fighting for the right side in his eyes, although he has acted antagonistically before, mainly trying to sacrifice his partner Gigi due to misinformation.

-> Gigi (L) /Guil (S)

A baby Youkai who was born from the malice that Luce left behind, he is a curious child who is also very determined. He's innocent and unaware of a lot of things in the world, which is why he and Gamma get along so well. However, he and Gamma also tend to get serious when there is someone bad in the area, fighting without holding back. Because of the circumstances of his birth, Gigi went rogue when Takato tried to sacrifice him to save the world from DigiShinigami, and it was only with Beezle's help that they could save him and bring him back. Ever since then, the two have continued to be close and are stronger partners with each other.

-> Fuankan (L) / Courageous Killer (S)

He's Takato's other partner who cares immensely for him, being a brotherly figure to Takato and Gigi. He's a bit shy, but always fights for justice when the time calls for it. He still finds himself as the rational one of the three, though, and can be found trying to keep Gigi from doing something stupid, or Takato from being reckless when dealing with ghosts and the such. He doesn't mind it a lot, and just goes with the flow no matter how annoying it may be.

11. Li Jianliang => LiJiLi(L)/EnCharmed to Meet You (S)

He was Takato's second-in-command until his death, killed by Quartz who was after Takato. After being brought back as a Youkai, LiJiLi misinterprets his feelings as hatred and goes after the Ghost Tamers, unaware that Takuya can also see him. After he is stopped, LiJiLi becomes a member of the Agency as well, slowly recovering memories of the days leading up to his death. This comes to head when they go to Sapporo and help Taiki find his missing friends, learning the truth that is also tied into Yuujin's story. Jianliang is a kind person with no hesitation to fight for his friends and family, and his Element is Ground.

-> Garrior (S) /

He was Jianliang's partner until his death. While cheeky and mischievous, he does know when to get serious. Following Jianliang's death, Garrior has been searching for the killer, and manages to meet up with Takato during the Agency's vacation in Sapporo as a vengeful Ghost who blamed Takato for the death of his partner without any reason at first. However, after he is defeated he begins to see that even if Takato did indirectly cause Jianliang's death it was Quartz's fault, not Takato's, and ends up working as a partner to Hiro and Gamma. He was a young child who died searching for his toy and getting hit by a truck. He's a Light-Ground Youkai.

12. Ookido Shigeru

He is Satoshi's childhood friend and classmate in school, having been a victim to LogoBoot-inspirited Gou. But he does help Satoshi and is mentioned among many other friends of his. He's one of the smartest in class and gets along well with others, mainly Satoshi, Kenji and Gou. He eventually starts dating Serena, who had a crush on Satoshi.

13. Meicoo

She met the team as the person who was helping Cherubi in his quest to take down the world, but was soon redeemed with Kouichi and helps them erase the memories of all the victims regarding their traumatic experience with the Youkai. Meicoo has a sharply spoken tongue yet is also very understanding. She tries her best to help her friends, mediating between them often due to how their energy can clash sometimes. She was a Youkai born from the misdeeds that was corrupted to Cherubi's side. She's a Light Youkai.

14. Ghost Tamers (Group Name)

a. Makino Ruki / Nonaka Ruko [current name; nonbinary]

They grew up with an abusive mom who hurt them a lot and made them feel horrible about themselves, which was reflected in how they were brutal in fighting ghosts until they met Takato and Jianliang. As they became friends with them, they slowly shifted their perspective and became kinder, falling in love with Juri and realising they considered themself nonbinary. Following Jianliang's death, they end up fighting off their mother and have her sent to jail for child abuse. They were still searching for Jianliang when he lures them to the abandoned apartment where they meet the Agency. Afterwards, they are shown to be a bit caring and protective over Takato, proven by how they threatened Takuya if he ever tried to break Takato's heart.

-> Rena

She is Ruko's partner, accepting them as they are, and loyal to the end. While at first Rena's only wish was to be stronger, stemming from her own insecurities that her family instilled into her while she was a martial arts student until her death by sabotage during an international contest, she grows with Ruko and becomes a much more understanding person. She's a Light-Darkness Youkai.

b. Katou Juri

She's Ruko's girlfriend, and she's very kind to everyone around her, especially her SO. Although she has her own dark past, nearly succumbing to DigiShinigami's manipulation, Juri moves past that time because she knows she's forgiven by her friends. She is a proficient Ghost Tamer who knows her limits and can fight well.

-> Leo / DigiShinigami

He is Juri's partner, once a former host to a dark entity known as DigiShinigami, but has been purified of this and saved, returning to Juri's side after months of rehab and recuperation via hibernation. He is calm and attuned to many types of fighting styles, yet similar to Angora with how protective he is of Juri. He's a Fire-Steel Youkai.

c. Kitagawa Kenta

He is a member of the squad, and while he isn't used to the chaos of being a Ghost Tamer as much as the others are, he tries his best. Kenta is one of Takuya and Takato's classmates, having met Takato through that, and he supported Takato during his beginning as a Ghost Tamer. Despite being the last member to gain a partner, he does end up assisting during the fight against DigiShinigami as a healer.

-> Marine Ange

She is Kenta's partner, and since she can't really speak normally, she is considered the baby of the group aside from Gigi despite her immense healing power. She is also seen as childish, playing with Gamma and Gigi when she has the chance. However, she can get serious and focused during a fight, helping them by healing them by the masses. She's a Light-Water Youkai.

d. Shioda Hirokazu

He is Kenta's boyfriend, and Takato and Takuya's classmate alongside Kenta and Juri. He is loud and boisterous, but behind that bravado, he is a caring and just person who can't bear to see his friends get hurt. His determination is matched by his partner who helps in the defense when fighting.

-> Guardro

He's Hirokazu's partner, in charge of defense during the fights. While a bit upright and slow, Guardro does his best to be a good defense specialist and works with Hirokazu to fight off the ghosts to protect his loved ones, even if he may be a bit too slow at first. He's a Steel-Earth Youkai.

e. Li Xiaochun

She is Jianliang's younger sister, and she sometimes appears to help the Tanteisha during problems that arise related to Ghosts. She's playful as a contrast to Lop's seriousness, yet she can still fight well with her own smarts.

-> Lop/Antyla

She is serious unlike Xiaochun but loves her partner all the same. She used to work for DigiShinigami until she met Xiaochun and changed her ways, becoming a member of the team as she helped them fight DigiShinigami. Afterward she stays a member and is even the first to welcome Leo back onto the team. She's a Light-Earth Youkai.

f. Akiyama Ryo

He's friends with Ken and is an experienced Ghost Tamer, although he is socially awkward and doesn't know how to interact with others. Thankfully, he learns and does his best to take care of his underclassmen, even introducing them to Ken so they can have more allies and connections when big threats come up. He doesn't give up on anyone, especially not his friends, and he will fight to the bitter end for them.

-> Cyber Dragon / Monodra

He's a fighting-oriented Darkness-Light ghost who doesn't stop for anyone, not even Ryo. As a result, he comes off as aggressive to everyone. However, he also has a huge heart, growing slowly to become more understanding and less battle-oriented. He even becomes a good role model to the younger Youkai of the Agency.

g. Airi

She's one of Takato's cousins, the other being Makoto. She's very outgoing and energetic, getting along well with Xiaochung as a result. While she and Makoto had fought a lot which led to Imp leaving, they eventually make up and learn to be better Tamers.

h. Makoto

He is one of Takato's cousins, the other being Airi. He's a bit arrogant but still tries his best to get along with the others. He doesn't try to push his opinions onto others anymore, and he helps Xiaochun when she is mourning her brother's death. Because of this, they grow closer and Makoto grows more mature.

-> Imp/Beezle

He is Airi and Makoto's partner, being the soul of their doll which they accidentally ripped apart. This gave him a jaded view of the world and humans until he meets the other Tamers and eventually reconciles with the two. Now, he's the snarky and impish member of the team who plays pranks but also has a soft side for them. He is also quick to reaccept Leo into the team following his rehab, considering he's the one who turned Leo into DigiShinigami in the first place. He's a Darkness Youkai.

15. Motomiya Daisuke

He's Taichi's underclassman and admires him a lot, which allows him to join the soccer team and meet Takuya and Taiki. He actually has a crush on Taiki which develops throughout their time together, and Takuya teases them both for it. Still, Daisuke is a hardheaded yet kindhearted person who is loyal to his friends. He is also revealed to be a Youkai Acknowledger in the Sapporo arc, helping Taiki find out the truth behind his past.

-> Magna V

He's one of Daisuke's partners, and he is an excitable goofball who is loyal to Daisuke. While Daisuke might not make the best decisions, Magna is always there to help him through the consequences of these dumb decisions. He is a Fire-Light Youkai.

-> Seranyan (L)/? (S)

She is Daisuke's other partner and she is a strict yet loving person. She tends to set Daisuke straight despite her own flaws, and she may be too prideful to admit them, but there are times when she does and apologises. She's a Water Youkai.

16. Kudou Taiki

He's Daisuke and Takuya's teammate, acting as Takuya's second-in-command for strategies. Calm but also hotheaded when it's about his friends, Taiki helps Daisuke stay calm during fights most of the time, but when he's the one in trouble Daisuke acts as a mediator between his colliding viewpoints. Taiki cares a lot for his friends, and carries guilt about the thing that left his friendship with Yuu in shambles. Thankfully it is eventually fixed.

-> Shomegaut (L)/? (S)

He is Taiki's partner and was around before the entire thing with Bagra and Quartz, staying in the shadows and avoiding Takuya's radar until the Sapporo arc. Eventually, he reveals himself and helps against Bagra. While his hotheadedness can rival Daisuke's, his loyalty is up there with Taiki's. He is a Fire-Thunder Youkai.

17. Yagami Taichi

He is one of the two original holders of the Y Scanners. Taichi is a brave yet reckless dude who dives into a dangerous situation even though he may fear the threat, which is a sign of one of his most powerful traits; courage/bravery. He's loyal to his friends too. Taichi's Y Scanner was red like Takuya's.

18. Daimon Masaru

He is one of the two original holders of the Y Scanners. Starting off as an arrogant street fighter, Masaru has changed his ways and now fights for the better good of those who need his help mainly thanks to Taichi. He's supportive and helps the best he can with Taiki and Daisuke, who he thinks of as siblings at this rate with his blood sister and Taichi's younger sister. He has a crush on Taichi too.

19. Shinkai Haru = ?(L)/?(S)

A Youkai who was found in an old theatre, reliving the good times with Yuujin and Tagiru until the Agency came along and reunited him with Yuujin. He is a Light-Steel Youkai who enjoys reading fantasy novels and he is open to many things, growing as a person after meeting the team.

20. Amanokawa Hiro

He is a comrade of the Mythical Agency's, having met them shortly after they arrived in Sapporo. Hiro's dad, Amanokawa Hokuto, is implied to have a connection to the Youkai world, possibly resulting in his disappearance 6 months ago, yet what it is exactly is left unclear. He is a mature yet reserved junior high student, choosing to keep his feelings locked away and prioritizing others over his own feelings. Despite this, Hiro is a pacifist and would rather not kill anyone if he could.

-> Gamma (L) --> Betel Gamma (S) / Gamma Kaus (S) / Gulusma (S) / Gamweles (S) --> Canopushiro

He's the soul of Hiro's unborn younger brother, unknown to everyone but Hokuto and his dark side, Gulusma. After a lot of problems, Hiro comes to terms with all 4 sides of Gamma, allowing him to access them all and switch between them with ease. Gamma is a curious child who loves running around and learning a lot of new things.

21. Amanokawa Hokuto

He is Hiro's dad who disappeared 6 months before the events of the Sapporo arc, but it is revealed during the Sapporo arc that he was Tagiru's uncle who heard of what had happened and decided to investigate, getting caught by Quartz in the process. He is rescued after Quartz's defeat and from there he becomes an advisor to the Ghost Game team. While a workaholic, he cares immensely for Hiro and is always there for him no matter what.

22. Himi Yukata

He is Tomoki's older brother who is aware of Youkai after following his brother to the Agency. Yukata isn't too involved with their cases, although he does help out from time to time. He becomes the oldest member who makes sure they stay safe during out-of-town trips, and even brings cases to them. He is observant and despite the fact that he is only able to see the supernatural creatures, Yukata does his best to be supportive of them, giving them advice as much as he can. He is also part of a band Taichi's friend, Yamato, leads.

23. Amano Yuu

He was Taiki and Tagiru's friend who got hurt and was in the hospital following an accident when a fight with Taiki sent him falling down the stairs by some unknown force. He is shown to be bitter at first, blaming Taiki for many bad incidents, but after Bagra is defeated and the truth comes out, Yuu forgives him. Even if their friendship's nearly gone, they're on better terms now.

24. Bagra

A nasty Kaima who was haunting Taiki, Bagra took those to whom he was close due to his personal vendetta against him as a person who died after being wronged by Taiki's parents. Because of this, he begins to attack people close to Taiki. Thankfully, the mystery is solved with his defeat although he is soon met as a purified Youkai who thanks the team for helping him.

25. Akashi Tagiru

Haru and Yuujin's lover, Tagiru is described as happy, self-confident, and also very kind to others. He is also Taiki's underclassman who went missing before Bagra could get to him. It is later revealed that he was taken by Quartz due to his aura and was turned into a Youkai-Ghost hybrid, becoming Quartz's vessel to make the Ghosts and Youkai destroy the world via war. Thankfully, the team manages to take him down together, and while Tagiru supposedly passes on after the battle, he returns as a Youkai-Ghost and reunites with his lovers. He has all 10 Elements in his arsenal due to Quartz's inspiriting.

26. Tsukiyono Ruri

She's another Youkai Acknowledger who comes to know of them thanks to Hiro and a vampire Youkai named Gabunyan who was playing tricks on people and scaring them. After being saved thanks to partnering up with Angora, she's been helping others haunted by Youkai and/or Ghosts all around Sapporo. She is excitable, curious, and also very reckless at times, but Angora will always have her back.

Angora is the opposite of Ruri; calm, collected, and he always takes time to think before he acts. However, he has his reckless moments, proven when he fights Gabunyan to save Ruri. He enjoys books a lot during his free time and can be seen reciting quotes for others to hear, most notably Gamma.

27. Higashimitarai Kiyoshiro

He's Hiro's dorm leader, and while he is terrified of Youkai and Ghosts, he ends up getting involved with them no thanks to Jelly-chan. He is good with computer programming, though, and will help the team as much as he can.

She is Kiyo's partner, and she's dragged him into the world of Youkai and Ghosts for fun. She is easy to annoy but also pretty mischievous. Also, she cares a lot for Kiyo even if she tries to hide it. When she's not with Kiyo, she's trying to help other Youkai/Ghosts adjust to the human world, getting some extra cash as well.

28. Boko-sensei

He was the first Youkai the team ever met when they started the fight against Cherubi aside from Neekun. While a bit immature and arrogant at first, Boko-sensei grows wiser, shown clearly when he meets Hiro and co. Sometimes they meet up with the Agency to discuss various new developments within the Youkai world.

29. Neekun

He was Boko-sensei's companion when the two met the team. Neekun may be a bit dense, but he hides an immense amount of intelligence beneath. It's because of this that he can be Boko-sensei's assistant aside from Bakullow.

30. Bakullow

He is Boko-sensei's new assistant, and he's very curious about humans and his own world in general. Because of this, he is excitable and always ready to learn more.

31. Ichijouji Ken

He's another Youkai Acknowledger who's unknown to most but Daisuke. Ken is calm and rational where Daisuke is hotheaded and reckless, but they remain the best of friends even through all that. Ken ends up showing up in Sapporo to help the others against Quartz, which ends up helping them a lot.

32. Quartz (similar to Soranaki)

He is the ultimate villain behind Haru, Tagiru and Yuujin's deaths, alongside Hokuto's disappearance. Quartz is a powerful Kaima gathered from the remnants of the bosses the kids have fought so far, making him more powerful. However, he is defeated once they all unite to defeat him, and he is banished, scattered so thoroughly he would never be able to rise again (at least, during their time).

Plot:

At some point, Gou is possessed by a Youkai, which turns him into a yandere for his two crushes, Satoshi and Tomoki. As a result, he begins stalking them and kidnapping anyone who comes close to them while they're at school. Gou then decides to take the two of them to a pocket dimension created by the Youkai. Tomoki meets up with Shigeru on the way, so the Youkai quickly disposes of Shigeru. When he and Satoshi arrive at the gym, they are transported into the pocket dimension and Gou reveals himself. Tomoki knows there's something amiss with the whole thing, though, so he convinces Satoshi to help him escape and find his Y-Scanner, only for "Gou" to appear and hold his Y-Scanner. Just then, the illusion breaks as Tomoki's friends appear after seeing a new case which was about the Youkai by which Gou was possessed, and Satoshi tackles "Gou" so Tomoki can get his Y-Scanner and summon Chak. Then they battle the Youkai and Tomoki risks his life to rescue Gou from the Youkai, allowing them to beat the Youkai. Once it is over, the Youkai apologises, and it's revealed that the Youkai had been an emotionally weak person who died in the school for loving two other people. Tomoki comforts him and befriends him before they attempt to erase the two's memories of this incident. However, Satoshi confesses that he never forgot, and Gou agrees. The two then join the Tanteisha, and Tomoki confesses to them, so they agree to date each other.

A few days after, everyone is talking as they watch Satoshi and Gou play with their partners and Yuujin, and Tomoki brings up Takato, Takuya's seatmate. This causes Takuya to blush since he has a crush on him. Everyone teases him about it, but then Gou remembers seeing a post on Usuranura regarding Li Jianliang, another classmate of his, and looks it up, which talks about people becoming dimmer and dimmer when they spend time around him. Takuya recalls Takato being the same way, and panics, making them split up to find him with the help of their partners. Agni eventually finds them in an old apartment complex that was for minorities, and they meet Xiaochun there. While Takuya searches for Takato, Tomoki asks her why she's there. She reveals Jianliang is her brother, and that she was told she could see her brother again because it was her home. Takuya finds the Tamers stuck in memories in their head, and he tries to snap them out of it, only for Jianliang to attack him. He calls out Vritra and they fight against Jianliang to protect Takato. The others hear the shouts and they rush in to help as the team summons their partners and LogoBoot to fight. When Jianliang insults Takato, Takuya gets mad and attacks with more ferocity, yelling that Takato was a very kind person; if he couldn't see that he was just a jerk through and through. With that, he manages to defeat EnCharmed to Meet You, and they meet LiJiLi while Takuya confesses his love for Takato. After befriending and getting his ark, Takato wakes up and asks if he had heard Takuya's words right. Takuya is very flustered because of this, but Takato confesses he feels the same way, and the revelation of their status as Ghost Tamers and how Jianliang died comes out. After everyone teases them, they decide to start dating, and the Ghost Tamers promise that if they get into worse scruffles than they can handle they'll call them, and vice versa before they split up and Takuya is teased even more by his friends.

During Takato and Takuya's first date (which the others are spying on, much to Koharu's slight amusement), they get a call from Ruki and Xiaochun respectively, leading them to head off to help them with a Ghost. Arriving at an old theater, they tell Satoshi and Gou to stay outside and they summon Yuujin and Jianliang to protect them as they head in. The group is then shown a familiar story, with Tomoki making the connection to Yuujin. However, they are attacked by someone and it alerts Satoshi and Gou. Worried for their friends, they head in despite the danger and end up meeting their guardian spirits (Pikachu and Hibunny) as they work together to stop the Youkai. The Youkai is then revealed to be Haru, and after befriending him, the group heads to the shrine to talk about these new additions.

Giovanni attacks them, calling Satoshi the reason he fell so far, but Tomoki and Gou stand up for him and they manage to beat him together. Yamaki and Satsuma thank the Agency for their help, and proceed to take him away.

After the attack, the group and Yukata head to Sapporo to find Tagiru, where they meet Hiro and Gamma, and they talk about their various experiences, with Hiro revealing he had just known about them for a short amount of time, and had been solving cases with his friends. After chatting about their purpose here, they suddenly bump into Taiki and Daisuke, who are with Taichi and Masaru, and they trail them to an abandoned school, where Taiki and Daisuke are revealed to have Youkai partners as well, with Taichi and Masaru being former Youkai Acknowledgers, as Taiki explains the reason he moved to Shibuya; an incident that took Tagiru (he's missing) and severed his friendship with Amano Yuu. Satoshi then uses his Aura to help them retrace where Tagiru went, and they are led to their old classroom, where they find pens that belonged to all of Taiki's friends, only for them to be swallowed into a pocket dimension by Bagra. However, together they manage to fight him off and finish him. After that, as the others walk back, Jianliang begins getting flashbacks of what led to his death, and he questions just what led to his end.

Jianliang begins getting nightmares about coming to Sapporo where he dies instead of Shinjuku, which concerns everyone. He can't sleep anymore and even Hiro is worried. In order to help him out, Ruri suggests a trip to the amusement park in order to kick back and relax. Everyone agrees, and they head there, where they meet Boko-sensei, Neekun, and Baku. While the others go around, Yuujin and Jianliang go with the Youkai to follow some clues left from Jianliang's memories. As the group reunites and asks where the two are, the Youkai stumble across an old mansion.
