Chapter 36

"C'mon Ro. It's getting kinda boring now." Remus thought, as if Roman would be able to hear him all the way from the Spirit's Triangle.

"How'd you get your scars?" Remus asked.

"Like I'd tell you." Janus snapped.

"Okay, touchy." Remus said, putting his hands up. "I'll just guess."

"You couldn't guess correctly if you tried."

"Mermaid attack." Remus tried. "No? Fire, then. No? Kraken attack."

"Krakens don't exist."

"They do too. I used to have one as a pet. Then it died."

"Wow, so sad, I don't care." Janus said, looking up from his book only to fix Remus with a dead-pan glare.

"Don't look too long, you might fall in love." Remus said with what could've been a smirk. Janus glared at him before looking back down at his book. "Talkative today, aren't we?"

Janus didn't say anything.

"Do I need to pick apart your mind again for you to talk to me?" Remus ran a nail along the hairline crack, making a small squealing noise that was lost in the screeching of the wind above them. "Okay, how about-"

"Don't you fucking dare."

Remus paid him no heed. "You constantly shy away from people because you've been hurt in the past. And you lashing out at them when they try and get through your shell is a sign of pretty minor anger issues that weren't treated when you were a child. You should really see a doctor about your trust and anger issues. I could suggest one. His name's Emile." Remus paused, running his tongue over his fangs. "Emile Picani."

Janus didn't give him the reaction he wanted but he looked up at Remus for a fleeting second so at least he got a reaction.

"Recognise the name?"

"I'm not falling for your trap again. You already hurt one of my friends, you're not hurting another." Janus said, snapping his book closed.

"Is it really me who's hurting them?" Remus asked, picking at his nails. "Or is just you and you're pushing it onto me because you can't bear to face the consequences and guilt?"

Janus glared at Remus, apparently unphased. Apparently. But there was a little spark of panic behind all his anger.

"You have no right to-"

"I don't have any rights locked up here!" Remus yelled, banging his palm on the glass. "So I will do what I want, Snake-Face, because all other rights have been taken from me. Including the right to a soul." He said, trailing off into a quieter voice.

"What?"

"It's nothing." Remus snapped.

"You don't have a soul." Janus said slowly. "You don't have a soul." He repeated.

"I know, you don't need to rub it in." Remus crossed his arms.

"So how long exactly have you been leading your 'soulmate' on?"

"Don't you dare!" Remus snapped. "Don't you dare by Poseidon! I haven't been leading Logan on, it's all his fault that I'm like this. Him and that stupid-" He was cut off by Janus laughing.

Janus' laughter turned to a snarl and a grimace. "How does it feel?" He asked. "How does it feel to be on the receiving end of all your shit?"

.... Here. I don't know what to say about this but I both love it and hate it with a burning passion so.... here.
Bye,
Blaize
