3-A Familiar Face

Kid's pov

That mission took longer than I thought. It took almost the whole week, mainly because the trip there and back took about three days.

Holding Liz and Patty in weapon form, I flew on Beelzebub back to Death City. Flying over the buildings below, I quickly arrived back at the DWMA.

I landed and released Liz and Patty, letting them change back to human form before absorbing Beelzebub back into my palm.

I looked up at the building in awe. "Ahh, it's so nice to see the beautiful symmetry of my father's academy again. I never tire of seeing it."

I heard Patty giggling as Liz sighed in annoyance. "Come on, Kid. We need to report to Lord Death about the mission."

"Of course, let's go."

I walked into the academy with Liz and Patty and headed straight to the Death Room. I was instantly greeted by my father.

"Hey there, Kiddo! How'd the mission go?"

"It was a success, father. All the kishin that were terrorizing that city have been taken care of."

"Great job, Kiddo! I knew I could count on you!"

I nodded and turned to leave, stuffing my hands into my pockets. I passed by many students in the halls as I headed over to the mission board.

Just as I figured, that's where the whole gang was. They all greeted us as we approached.

Soul grinned, showing his pointy teeth before he spoke. "So I'm guessing the mission was a success?"

I nodded. "Yeah, the longest part was just getting there and back."

After a little chatting, we started heading for class. With the girls and Crona ahead, Soul and Blackstar hung back on either side of me.

Soul suddenly asked, "So, since you're back from your mission, why don't you join us for a guy's night tomorrow?"

"A guy's night?"

Blackstar interrupted, "Yeah, tomorrow's Saturday! We already asked Crona and he agreed! Of course, WHO COULD TURN DOWN A BIG STAR LIKE ME, HAHAHA!

"That's why you have to come, dude. It'll be just the four of us guys, no girls to bother us."

I nodded. "Okay, I'll go."

"Cool, we'll meet up at your place around seven."

"Seven?! No, please! Make it eight! It has to be eight!"

Soul sighed. "Fine, eight it is."

"Thank you. Where are we going to go anyway?"

Blackstar jumped in front of me. "It's an awesome place where-!"

Soul clamped a hand over his mouth to shut him up.

"It's a surprise. Me and Blackstar have gone there quite a bit, but it'll be brand new to you and Crona. You'll just have to wait and find out."

After our conversation, we quickly headed into class. We took our seats as the bell rang.

Sitting in my spot between Liz and Patty, I watched as Stein rolled into class in his chair. Like most days, Stein went tumbling out of his chair upon rolling over a bump in the floor.

Students were stifling their laughs as he picked himself up and dusted himself off.

"Alright, class. Today we will be dissecting the endangered red panda."

I watched as he uncovered a cage with a terrified little red panda. Typical, just another class of dissecting some poor little creature.

Maka quickly raised her hand and asked, "Professor Stein, should we really be dissecting endangered animals?"

"Of course. We need to dissect and study them while we can before they're all gone."

Something tells me this is going to be a long class.

Timeskip to the next day

It was getting close to eight, almost time for the boys to come over. I fixed myself up, making sure I was perfectly symmetrical while waiting.

I looked at myself in the mirror, seeing everything looked perfect except my hair. I gave a quick look of disgust before heading downstairs.

I then heard the doorbell and quickly went to the door, opening it to see Soul, Blackstar, and Crona.

Soul grinned. "We're ready whenever you are."

I looked at the clock to see it turn to eight o'clock exactly. I went outside and locked the door, since Liz and Patty had gone out with Tsubaki and Maka.

Since we were having a guy's night, they wanted to have a girl's night. I walked beside Crona while Soul and Blackstar led the way.

I gave him a small smile and said, "I'm glad you decided to come out, Crona. I figured you wouldn't want to come to something like this."

He rubbed his arm. "Umm, w-well...I didn't really get much of a choice. Blackstar insisted that I had to come."

I nodded. "Ah, that explains it. Either way, I'm happy you're here. We don't get many chances to just hang out, you know?"

He nodded and smiled before replying, "Yeah."

We suddenly stopped in front of a club. Soul looked back at us. "We're here."

I looked up at the building. "A nightclub?"

Blackstar shook his head and laughed. "We're not here for the club! What we're going to is much better!"

Crona and I were led inside. I noticed Crona trembling and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I don't know how to deal with things like this!"

Soul looked at him. "Don't worry, Crona. We're not staying here."

He gestured for us to follow him. He led us down a small set of stairs and into a dark hall. We went down another set of stairs until we came to an open room.

I looked all around the room. There were crowds of people cheering, and in the center was what looked like a chained off arena.

"Where are we?"

Blackstar yelled out, "WE'RE IN THE UNDERGROUND BATTLING ARENA!"

Soul grinned. "It's really cool, skilled meisters are able to fight against monsters in the arena. The monsters are summoned by a necromancer who works here. Don't worry though, she's not a threat to anyone."

"WOOHOO, LET'S FIND OUR SEATS!"

I rolled my eyes at Blackstar as he rushed over to some front row seats. We followed and sat down in the front row with him.

Luna's pov

I sat in the back room where the competitors wait for their battle. I've only been doing this for about a week and I've already got a reputation as the undefeated champion.

That's right, I haven't lost a battle yet. Drake and Drew transformed and slipped over my hands. As I got ready, the door opened and a familiar pest walked over to me.

"Good luck out there, Silver Wolf."

She says good luck but she doesn't mean it. She's been hanging around just waiting for me to lose.

"What do you want, Princess?"

She flicked her blonde hair and held up her rapier. She acts like she's all that but she's just an amateur that's never even fought in the arena before.

"I'm here to compete of course. We're fighting in the arena together."

"What?!"

She smirked at me before saying, "I'll show everyone that I'm much better than you."

"Tch, you wouldn't last one minute in the arena. Whatever, just stay out of my way."

After a few moments, the announcer spoke to the audience.

"Our next match will be a tag team battle! Our first competitor is a newbie who will make her grand debut! Please welcome, The Celestial Princess!"

People clapped as a blonde girl with a rapier entered the arena.

"Our next competitor is someone we all know very well! Her beauty rivaled only by her ferocity! The undefeated champion of the underground arena! Give it up for, The Silver Wolf!"

Everyone clapped and cheered as I leaned over to Soul and asked, "Champion?"

He nodded and grinned. "The Silver Wolf is awesome. She's never lost a battle once. Plus, she's really hot."

I heard a group of guys behind us yell, "We love you, Silver Wolf!"

I watched as a girl entered the arena, gliding her clawed hand against the chains as she passed by them, making a scraping sound.

My eyes widen and a quiet gasp escaped my lips as I quickly recognized the familiar girl.

Luna's pov

As I stood beside the Princess, I glanced over the crowd, sensing something familiar. My eyes landed on the boy with black hair and three white stripes.

I quietly told my weapons, "The reaper's here."

The twins questioned in unison. "What? Lord Death's son is here?"

"Don't worry about him. We've got more important things to worry about."

After my statement, the glowing ring appeared on the ground in front of us. I got in my battle stance, claws raised as a bear-like beast emerged from the ring.

I could see the scared look on the Princess's face. The monster stared at us with glowing red eyes as it growled. It let out a roar before charging toward us.

I dodged to the side and clawed it as I passed by. I saw the Princess do the same, slashing her rapier across its side. The creature roared in pain before swiping at me.

I ducked under its claws and backflipped away from it. It then turned toward the Princess and swiped at her, knocking her against the chains.

I got in closer and slashed at its side again. As it tried to knock me away, I dodged and slowly circled around it, slashing at it every chance I got until I found myself in front of the Princess.

I turned toward her and yelled, "Get up!"

She struggled to get up and ended up still slumped against the chains in the corner. This girl was useless.

I turned back toward the bear to see it rushing toward me. I jumped up, hooking my claws into the chains above, and swinging over the beast, landing on my feet.

When I turned around, the monster was standing over the Princess, claws raised. The Princess brought up her rapier only to have it knocked right out of her hand.

I heard Drake quickly say, "We have to help her!"

Before I knew what I was doing, I ran forward, sliding under the creature's legs. On the ground in front of it, I stood up on my hands and kicked the bear right in the chin, causing it to stumble back as I stood up straight again.

The monster shook its head, disoriented after that kick. Before it could regain its composure, I rushed forward and slashed away at it before kicking it in the face again, knocking it back.

Seeing the beast bloody and out of breath, I lowered my claws. It slowly approached me as I slowly walked forward, meeting it halfway.

Now standing in front of each other, the monster towered over me. I heard the audience gasp as it roared and stared straight into my eyes, growling.

I glared at the beast, a quiet growl only the creature could hear erupting from my throat. After a short stare down, the bear backed away from me in fear.

I smirked as the monster started disappearing into a glowing ring and the audience cheered and screamed.

"She's done it again, folks! The Silver Wolf has won yet another battle! And this is the first time a monster has ever forfeited out of fear! The Silver Wolf is truly a champion!"

The Princess managed to finally get up out of the corner and grab her weapon before approaching.

"Thank you, for saving me. I'm sorry about what I said before."

I held up my hand, gesturing for her to be quiet.

"I only saved you to stop you from ruining the arena battle's reputation. If a meister was killed during something like this, the arena would be shut down and I'd lose my source of entertainment. You're a pathetic excuse for a meister. Next time, you should think before you get yourself in a situation like this."

I turned and left the arena, leaving her shocked and hurt at my words. As I headed home, I let Drake and Drew change back to human form.

Making it home, Drew asked me, "Do you think maybe you were too hard on that girl?"

"Pssh, I'd say I wasn't hard enough. She was useless. If I wasn't there, she would've died."

"Calm down, Lulu. Don't be so dramatic."

I looked at Drake, my anger rising.

"Dramatic? I'm not being dramatic! People like her shouldn't be allowed to be meisters! They're a disgrace...!"

Feeling myself starting to change, I held my head. Calm, I must stay calm.

I sighed. "I'll be in my room."

I rushed up to my room, shutting the door before sitting on my bed. I crisscrossed my legs and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths to calm myself.

I'm not going to change. I'm not going to change. I'm not going to change.

Kid's pov

Seeing Blackstar and Soul cheering as The Silver Wolf left the arena, I pondered to myself.

If she was here, she must be staying in Death City. I wonder if she'll be joining the DWMA like father said. She definitely has the skills for it.

Why do I still get a strange feeling from her? There's something different about her, I just don't know what it is.

I suddenly noticed Ragnarok pop out of Crona's back. "Come on, dummy! Let's go already, I'm hungry!"

Crona got up to leave and Soul and Blackstar followed. They looked at me as I stood in place.

Soul frowned. "Something wrong, Kid?"

"No, it's nothing. Go on ahead, I'll join you in a minute."

He shrugged and the three of them left. I walked around the arena, checking in the backroom only to find that that girl was nowhere to be seen.

Did she leave already? I was hoping to meet her, but I guess that will have to wait. I stuffed my hands in my pockets before turning and leaving the arena.
