Chapter 1: Twins
Jess's P.O.V
Ivor took off running, the flint n' steel in hand. I gave a small growl and turned to the others.
"Come on," I said. "We have to make sure he doesn't get himself killed." They nodded and we all took off running. Of course it had to turn night right then. The sun went down and the moon light shined brightly, lighting our pathway. Ivor was just feet ahead of us. Thinking back to our adventure at Murder Mansion, I thought he said he had bad knees. I made a mental note to bring up on that later cause he's definitely slightly faster then us right now. I pushed myself to go fast and soon I was running right beside.
"You couldn't have taken off while it was still light out?" I hissed a him.
"Well sorry for wanting to explore new world for treasures." He hissed back. I rolled my eyes before we both had to go to a screeching holt, the others coming to a screeching holt behind us. Creepers, skeletons, and zombie blocked our path. Well, I thought to myself, if we're going to go explore new worlds, it's best we get some practice now.
Third Person
Jess sprung forward taking a zombie out of play as Axel and Emily started throwing out tnt. Olivia and Petra fired arrows at the creepers and Lukas took out a zombie going after Jess while she was blocking a skeleton's arrow fire with her sword. In a few moments all mobs were gone.
"Ivor, is there any chance you'll go home?" Jess quizzed him. "No, there is not." He replied, crossing his arms stubbornly. Jess heaved a sigh. "Then we better hurry to the temple before more mobs come". He nodded and they all took off again, slicing mobs along the way. When they finally arrived at the temple, they quickly entered it and went through the portal.
"Well Ivor," Jess started "you wanted to come, which portal do we go though?" While Ivor pondered and looked at the portals, Lukas shuffled over to Jess.
"You have the Atlas on you, right?" Jess nodded "I grabbed it seconds before we took off after Ivor," she said bringing it out and showing it to him. He nodded before Ivor exclamed, "I doubt we've gone through this one yet!" He started bouncing up and down like he did when he first saw Harper's hideout. Jess went over and look at the portal Ivor chose. It was a green and yellow clay portal. It was... different though. Jess took a closer look. It had spirals on each clay block the middle of the portal had the same spirals in silver. Jess told the others to go through, she wanted to inspect the portal further, though Petra insisted on staying with her.
"You never know if there are dangers around." Petra stood against the bottom blocks of the portal while the others went through.
Jess's P.O.V
"So why exactly did you want to look at the portal?" Petra asked. I let out a sigh. Might as well let her know, maybe she could help. I stood up straight from my bent over position and faced her. I pulled a spiral necklace that was the exact color of the portals.
"My twin brother Jesse made two necklaces, one for me and one for him exactly like this. This portal, it might be part of his doing." Petra's eyes widened when I said 'twin brother'. "Since when did you have a brother?!" I sighed and told her the story
*Flashback*
Me and my brother, Jesse only 6 and me only 5, were playing in the fields by our house on the meadow. Our mother and father watched us play before going back inside to start cooking dinner. Jesse, being as curious as he always is, wanted us to explore. Though I was nevous, I felt the same sense of adventure he did, as I do now. We went further out to the woods a few paces from our house. We found a secret little clearing, were a tree stood with foot holes here and there, almost like a ladder. We climbed to the top and it was like it was a tree house built by mother nature herself, for it was not touched at all by people. We played there, my brother and I, until we saw smoke coming from our house. We raced down the ladder and to our home, only to see it ablaze with fire. We didn't know who did it, we saw the person's eyes. They were red as blood, cold as stone, the blood like red was as dark as the night sky itself. We stayed together for a few years when Jesse turned 11 and I turned 10. We had been searching for the person who did it for 5 long years. On the anniversary of our parents deaths, the 6th year, Jesse said that he was older and I was younger I should be doing kid things, not searching for a killer. He told me to stop and that ever year again on the anniversary, to meet at the little tree house. So we did and on the 9th time I went there, he was holding the spirals he said that was long as we we're wearing them, we'd always have each other. And he said he stole a spell book from a witch hut he had found. He said he found one that would keep siblings together, even when far apart. So we carried out the spell. We cut our palms and put the blood on the necklaces and said the chant:
'Siblings should never be apart let these gifts keep us together. Let us be one with each other, love each, and never be far from each other. Let these gifts be there to hold us together, and may the special bond we share never be broken.' When we finished repeating the chant for the 5th time, we put the necklaces on and they sparked to life with the same color they are now. And never did the colors fade. But the next time I went there, Jesse wasn't there, but a note was. It read,
Dear little sis,
I know I was due to be here, but trouble has come to my home. Remember I alway have and always will love you. If the color on you necklace should die down, it means that I am dead. If this is to ever happen, don't morn over me for too long. I still want you to live your life to the fullest. Have adventures, get friends, gain enemies, have fun. Below this note is a basket I placed with one of the pigs I rescued resently. His name is Rueben. He lost his mother when he was younger. Care for him please.
Never forget me,
Jesse
I looked below him and there was Rueben. And until his death I loved him, because him and the necklace were the only things keeping me going. When Rueben died, it stung. There was a bit of my brother gone.
*End of Flashback*
I hugged myself as I finished telling Petra the story and noticed the other had come back through.
"So that's why.. with Rueben..." Lukas didn't have to finish before I nodded. I was already on the verge of tears as it was. I sniffed a bit before shaking my head.
"Come on, let's go and have another adventure you guys." I said giving a smile. They nodded and gave me a smile back. We all walked through. This portal was on the ground and the exit portal was right beside this portal. I raise my eyebrow and took in our surrondings. It looked like my old home. Lukas put a beacon at the portal before we started walking forward towards a hill. When we got to the the top of the hill, what we saw made us freeze. There were a few homes and those houses we lit on fire. I felt my blood run cold. Then I say those eyes. Those same eyes that lit my house and my parent on fire. The same eyes that I spent 5 years looking for. The same eyes that made my brother leave to look for. And then I saw him. My brother. Older, looking exactly like me. Same short brown hair and green eyes. He was hiding behind a fallen tree with 5 or so others. He broke from behind the tree and confronted the man with THOSE eyes from a distance. The man laughed and said something back. Then he dissappeared. But in his place stood many zombies. Enough for him to easily take on, but they had full diamond armor, diamond swords, a few had bows, did they know archery? How's that possible? I growled as the others turned to me.
"Is that..?" "My brother." I finished Ivor's words. The other people with my brother joined him and took out most of the zombies before their weapons broke and they got surrounded. I growled again. "Come on," I said to the others, "let's go kick some zombie butt."
Whoo! 1527 words written NOT including this author's note! So... do you guys like it? Criticism is welcomed and ideas are too. So how did I do for the first chapter? I'll try to update soon! I'm actually already writing the second chapter!
